Holidays to Bridgetown, Barbados

Bridgetown is the capital of Barbados and commercial hub of this enthralling island. A town of contrasts, this is where Caribbean Calypso culture muddles with the island's colonial history, creating a unique atmosphere found nowhere else.

Beaches Near Bridgetown

Looking for sun, sea and sand, then head to Pebbles Beach to the south of Bridgetown. This long strip of white sand is one of the best beaches in the area and is a popular area for sunbathers and snorkelers.

Bridgetown's culture

For those looking to explore the history and culture of Barbados then Bridgetown is the place to start. There are plenty of buildings and monuments that are leftovers from the island's British rule to see from George Washington House to the Parliament buildings and statue of Lord Nelson. The entire downtown area and south to the Garrison Savannah military base is a UNESCO world Heritage Site and is brimming with history.

Shopping Opportunities

No visit to Bridgetown is complete without a bit of a shopping expedition. Broad Street is the main shopping thoroughfare and offers a good range of Duty-Free opportunities although we would also recommend the pedestrianised Swan Street which runs parallel. Don't miss out on a visit to the Mount Gay Visitors' Centre, where you can find out about the production of one of Barbados' most famous exports, Mount Gay Rum.
