Peaceful & Serene Haven

Review by Akwesi B Ghana

Went on a 100+ team member business trip in April,2022 to Swahili Beach Resort and I must say Swahili beach resort is a great place. Shuttle was timely in picking us the moment we arrived at ukunda airport from Nairobi. Resort has a great view overlooking the Indian Ocean...

A Serene and secured environment. Pool was clean, and not too deep and safe for anyone and we had lot of fun swimming during the day. What caught my attention the most was the Swahili themed architecture which is unique. Food and cocktails was awesome and we had lunch at the poolside with live-band music on our last day, kitchen staff were very accommodating, friendly, courteous and always ready to offer whatever we requested without any hesitation. Rooms were always clean and mosquito free. We had a great conference room for our business discussions on our business review days. Menza the security manager was also very helpful in directing me around Diani. Took some time out to also visit the spa located overlooking the India ocean. Also, not to forget, you get to connect with nature with the trees and monkeys around. Definitely coming back with my family & friends. Thanks for your exceptional hospitality.

Beautiful resort with amazing grounds and pool. TERRIBLE beach area

Review by treely22 Jersey City, New Jersey

The resort itself is beautiful as far as the groups. The pool is stunning as it is a multi level tiered infinity pool. I have seen nothing like it...

The downside is that the beach are a is beyond terrible. There is seaweed literally everywhere covering the beach. The staff shovel a small pathway to walk down to it but that is it. Also the resort is built on a coral reef so you cannot even walk out to the beach. I had no idea it was that bad so I was very disappointed. My husband and I walked down about 20 minutes and was not much better, it is that whole area as it is all coral reef. There are also sea urchins so you have to be careful if you attempt to go closer to the water. Now lets go to the positives, which there are many: the grounds are beautiful, the breakfast is free and very nice, the patios and balconies are spacious, rooms are beautifully decorated, 90% of staff are beyond friendly, spa is cheap, and is 2 minutes from the air strip. I want to give a shout out to a few staff who were wonderful to us. Adam from Baharini Bar/Restaurant, Mercy from the reception, and Paul in security! A few things that were bummers but did not significantly impact our trip: When we went there were flies everywhere. While that is not the resorts fault obviously, they do not have candles or anything out to deter them which as a 5 star resort I do believe they should as it makes it impossible to eat. We had to constantly ask for a candle when we ate. We got the half board which included dinner. Almost every seafood option is excluded and if you want them you cannot simple upgrade and pay an additional fee you have to pay FULL price for them. I was disappointed in that. I wished you could of paid an additional amount versus having to pay the same as someone else who did not pay for half board. Some of the services is slow. I had to call 4 times to get washcloths as they were not left in our room one day. The womens spa had no private working shower. One shower that had a door was broken, the other shower that worked had no door so you were in the open for others to see. The cashier at the money exchange was not friendly. They also did not have money for us to exchange so I would not count on exchanging anything on the resport There is a market with multiple shacks to buy things right outside the main doors of the hotel. Do not buy from the people on the beach area. Overall if you love the pool and a beautiful resort you will be happy. If you want to see the beautiful part of Diani beach with white soft sand and a nice beach then I would go elsewhere as we did not get to experience that part.

Amaizing customer service

We checked in at Swahili and were stunned by the architectural design of the facility, everything went on well as planned , the services were splendid and courteous especially from day one Emmanuel and Edna front office, Food and beverage manager Juma who let us take over the music, Sofia always smiling and goes above and beyond, Chris & Timothy make the best cocktails, Samuel waiter very cheeky and makes jokes . Overall best experience my daughter planning to bring her friends from Australia to celebrate her 21st.

Gorgeous facility, poor beach access!

The service, rooms and outdoor amenities are quite possibly one of the best you can get in Diani. The food and restaurants are also pleasantly diverse, big shout out to Shadrack the chef. Unfortunately, they got the wrong end of the stick if you really prefer pristine 1st-row access to the ocean. The area the hotel is in is full of coral rock and seaweed...

You would have to walk further down for better beach access. This is no fault of their own I suppose but I did find that a little disappointing.
