Perfect Beach Resort

Review by Y1970COmarkg

We just returned from a wonderful week at Galley Bay. This was out first time to Antigua and Galley Bay Resort and will be back. We have been going to Mexico over the past 10 years and found each returning trip to be more commercialized, sea grass issues and the resorts becoming less relaxed...

Galley Bay is for people looking for a quiet vacation with a room on beachfront with a real ocean view. All rooms are ocean front and we recommend staying on the bottom level. It was nice to walk out of your room to be right on the beach. If the beach, is your main reason for vacation, this is the perfect place. If you like to play music or be entertained, this is not the resort for you. Out of all the resorts we have been to over the past 10 years (adults only 5-star resorts), Galley Bay ranks as one of the top we have stayed at. The Pros over all other resorts we have been to: room locations all on the beach and unbeatable views. Beach and water was perfect for snorkeling and long walks. Atmosphere was quiet and relaxing. Staff reacted quickly to any request with no wait. Cons: rooms were good, but missing some details. (Galley Bay is remodeling some rooms) Grounds not as tropical or perfected as other resorts.

Exceptional 2 week holiday

Review by IanS584 Oxford, United Kingdom

Thank you Galley Bay for our fantastic 2 week holiday and especially many thanks to Cederic, Nathanial and Derek who were exceptional and attended to our every request. We stayed in Room 27 on the ground floor leading straight to the beautiful ½ mile long beach. Thank you as well Shilo and Kelly for the well run water sports centre...

We enjoyed eating at Gauguin and Ismay’s but did not fancy the Seagrapes restaurant. Some exceptional staff to note are Alfred who was always smiling and worked really hard, Paulette who kept our room spotless, the talented chef Patrick, cocktail star Natasha, rain man Ordel for serving in pouring rain and to the countless other well trained staff. We do hope to return someday soon and would recommend this hotel.

fantastic hotel and Island- we will return!

Review by S4987ANkarens

We are just back from an amazing trip to Antigua and stay at the Galley Bay Hotel, having extended the original 10 nights to 14 shortly after arriving from the UK, and a year of lockdown! The highlight of the hotel is the beautiful white sandy beach reached directly from our hotel room (premium beach front suites-room 27) which we walked along daily (1/2mile length) with both the Guarguin and Ismays Restaurant at either end, which alternate during the evenings. A gorgeous fresh fish lunch can always be found at Guarguin thanks to Chef Patrick, and the food at both is of a high quality. We weren't so keen on the Sea Grape (Main) restaurant, but chef Nathaniel, did his best to help remedy that and provided delicious tropical fruit for breakfast and omelettes to our own taste. The management, Cedrick and Derrick were always on hand to come around and chat and try and fix any issues that we might of had, and were very approachable. Another highlight was the fantastic water sports centre.(all included) Shilo and Kelly would regularly take us out on the Hobbie Cat, and they taught my husband to sail...

They were very patient and entertaining and they would take us over to the next door bay, and snorkel over the 1905 ship wreck or visit fort Barrington. The snorkelling here and directly in front of Ismays is wonderful with lots of tropical fish to see. We took our own snorkel equipment but the hotel will provide it for you. We also tried the kayaking which is also included. There is great nightly live band entertainment with lots of dancing, even from the waitresses! It generally lasts 2 hours and finishes around 10 or 10.30pm due to the local curfew. The hotel was about 80% occupancy we were told but it never felt you were on top of other guests, and there was plenty of space to relax and swim alone. 2 weddings happened during our trip and it looked like a beautiful occasion, and certainly a good destination to get married. The staff were all friendly, and tried their best to help you, but a special mention to Natasha, who made us her own version of a Porn star Martini, Amanda at Ismays and Gaurguin, Andrea, Sadi, Sandy, Alfred with his water jugs! and Order who battled a fairly heavy tropical down poor to bring us our lunch. And not forgetting Paulette who kept our room clean and tidy despite a lot of sand being brought in from the beach!

So Wonderful I Can't Stay Away

Review by JFsB Fairfield, Connecticut

I confess: this was my second stay this year, and my 5th visit in all. What brings me back is the unparalleled service (everyone from the front desk, to customer service, wait staff, housekeeping is simply wonderful) and the gorgeous beach. The food is always freshly prepared and tasty...

The premium beach front suite is my preferred room category and is very comfortable. I'm glad to see tourism picking back up; there were about 120 guests in May compared to the 80 that were there in January. Having hurt my feet on the first day, I was grateful for the buggy service to get around. Also, the COVID testing couldn't have been more organized and I was amazed to get my results in less than 12 hours. If you are trying to chose between Galley Bay and any other resort, don't hesitate and book here immediately. I like the Elite Islands Resorts so much, I'm already book at the St. James in Antigua in October.

Traditional Old Caribbean

Review by Saratennis Boynton Beach, Florida

Loved Galley Bay. Having patio right on beach was heaven. Food could be improved on and menu updated but it was a perfect respite after the lost year of the pandemic...

People were most gracious and accommodating. Hope to return. Definitely not disappointed.
