Anyone travelling to BARBADOS, please be alert to whats going on there. If you worked all year and save some money going on a 1 week vacation this is not the place to be. We travelled there on the 2nd January which was my anniversary and later in the week my birthday...
Went with a negative test, when we landed at the airport, we were given a red band and have to do a test 5 days after the first test. The hotel will not let us leave our room, we had to pay a special taxi to take us for the test and return without going anywhere. We were leaving that Friday, did not get to do anything for the full week was on quarantine the whole week, the text came back friday 12 noon, my flight was 8 in the morning so we could not travel, had to rebook hotel, rebook flights. Thursday I decided to pay to get our test done for the next flight since that was past 5 days. The cost was 180 USD. per person, they promise 24/48 hours, it came back in about 60 hours and again was not accepted at the airport because it was past 72 hours by the time we got to the next flight, so at the airport we had to pay again 102. USD each for another text at destination point. It cost us an extra 1500.USD to do nothing, I was literally going mad staying in the room with no wifi for the full 5 days. This hotel do not have an area for visitors waiting for a test result to relax at, also no room service for cleaning on for food, you have to stay in your room. I was told other hotels have an area downstairs where you can get out of your room and relax but not here. GM was kind enough to give us a discount for the next 3 nights. This is not a place to spend you hard earn money for you will not enjoy it at this time of COVID LOCKDOWN.
For $400 per night I expected something special, and the photos looked amazing on the internet. But as soon as we arrived we felt something was amiss.
Service was poor at check in...
The landings and hallways had so many bulbs out that I literally thought someone had turned the lights off. I felt like I was on the set of “the Hobbit” every time I walked down the out of date hallway.
Our “island view” room looked out on the parking lot and very busy, noisy coast road... even though the hotel seemed half empty. We were surprised they could not have chosen a nicer location for us. There were some weird things about the room like no clock, no light switch inside the bathroom, not enough towels, etc.
All activities are now cancelled due to covid, and the gym is closed. Despite being right on the beach, the dining area is an indoors-style area. Even for $400/night breakfast was not included, with an additional cost of $30 US per adult which would have been another $100 daily for my family - while we could easily walk across the street to the food court (which we did) and feed everyone just as well for $50 or less.
All in all, since none of the amenities were available, food was overpriced, and all the beaches in Barbados are just as nice as Accra (or nicer), we didn’t see any reason to stay... so we left.
I planned a 5 day stay at this hotel for my sis birthday. I did a pre-visit as I wanted to make sure the room was good enough for her! We had an ocean view suite and it was lovely! Large patio with a breathtaking view!!!, spacious suite with a jacuzzi, tiny fridge, coffee pot and kettle(tea & coffee as well) and generally a clean space. The corridors however and the elevator smelled a lil off but I assumed this was because of lack of use. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful from the very start and this made our stay really great! The hotel had very few guests(the island was on lockdown for Covid months before and was very slowly coming back to life). The hotel had Covid protocols in place. We noticed they kinda kept the areas dim(lights were off everywhere), I was forced to ask if they didn’t turn on the lights!! The pool side was always empty which we didn’t mind anyway...
Saw the GM many times and his family around(very friendly). We ate breakfast at the restaurant every morning. It was mainly us in the restaurant. The staff were friendly(sometimes not as). The breakfast was lovely some days(sometimes not) and we did order the same things everyday!!!
We used one of the days and invited our family over for a Day-pass on my sis actual birthday! It went well but the rain poured! We tried to make the best of a wet day by the pool! All in all we enjoyed ourselves enough to extend our stay by a few more days. However when we went back up to our room, after a long day of sightseeing. Our cards wouldn’t work to let us in the room. I called down for them to send someone up with replacements and the front desk guy said we have to come down for them! I was very annoyed and let him know this. Well.. we received the cold shoulder from him for the rest of our stay. Luckily they were other very friendly front desk staff so his behavior could be ignored. I have since used this hotel as gifts to family members as weekend staycations and as Day-Passes. I do recommend this hotel but please remember this is time of Covid so do not have very high expectations of hotel activity . Just come and relax yourself, enjoy the beach, pool and each other’s company.
Sad to say this hotel wasn’t a bit like the photos. Very run down which we could’ve forgiven if they had at least tried to give better service but the staff seemed fed up and tired too. At Breakfast for example it proved almost impossible to get an omelette as the lady cooking them would retreat behind a screen and only come out if she had to! Sadly, food was mediocre at all times and rats could be seen around the dining/bar area so we chose to eat out. The bar area was just as bad at serving you as was the pool bar...
Sun beds were placed so close to one another on the beach that you couldn’t get off your lounger without shuffling to the bottom. It takes a lot to put us in a bad mood on hol and we decided to simply upset his as a base to sleep. Certainly wouldn’t want to repeat the mistake so will book elsewhere for our next vacation.
The staff here are rude,. It seems to be most of them The room was worn out and dark,. Loud music being played by other customers by the pool enters out room every day and us really annoying
We won't be back here , it's out of date, the rooms are worn out and the hotel itself isin good need of modernisation,
The staff could do with some entry level customer service skills to say the very least.
Not a good place to go if your looking to relax ..
