We’ve just returned from a fantastic stay and honestly had the best time!
The hotel facilities were brilliant, the food was excellent, and we particularly loved having the choice of à la carte restaurants. We managed to dine at them all and thoroughly enjoyed every one, although the Lebanese restaurant was a particular favourite of mine!
The staff were absolutely fantastic throughout our stay – always friendly, welcoming and happy to help. A special mention has to go to Alexandra, who helped us on several occasions and was just brilliant. She really is a credit to the hotel!
I’ve noticed some reviews mentioning rowdy groups of golfers, and whilst I can understand the comments, we genuinely didn’t find it to be a big issue. It’s a large hotel with plenty of lovely spaces, so if a group is a little noisy, it’s easy enough to move somewhere quieter. It certainly didn’t spoil our experience.
We also opted for the purple band upgrade, which I would definitely recommend. For us, it was worth it for the higher-quality branded alcohol alone! The executive lounge was another lovely bonus, especially being able to enjoy a slightly later breakfast on those mornings when we fancied a lie-in.
Overall, we had an absolutely fantastic holiday. Great facilities, delicious food, lovely staff and a brilliant atmosphere. We came away with lots of happy memories and would 100% return!
Thank you to everyone at the hotel for such a wonderful stay! ☀️🍹
treat you different if you dont upgrade to purple bands, my room 557 was an uprade although we wasnt told this until the friday, after a chat with guest relations lady called tamara she was lovely and seemed to want to reslove issues. we arrived on the previous sunday, we had air con issues that it wasnt cool enough so was uncomfortable to sleep in and after several complaints i was told that it wont go any colder and reducing it due to time of year, also our premium upgraded room had a few crack across the wall and outside the tiny balcony where the doors are the crack goes round it. the bathroom was nice but ceiling had no ventilation for steam to escape so the ceiling was peeling. seemed like its been rushed to be occupied. i dont feel like ive had a holiday. some staff was nice others ignored you .The corridors echo so noisy guests was a downside. the only positive is that the food was great even tried the greek which was nice. we tried the executive suit it wasnt impressive its a small room facing the road and not alot to choose from so i dont think its worth it . This holiday wasnt worth what we paid nearly £3000. the weather wasnt great rained most of it and a few storms obviously not anyones fault.
Nothing is too much trouble at this hotel. We arrived after a significant delay, middle of the night and starving, but a warm welcome and sandwiches were waiting for us! The first night I couldn't sleep because the mattress was too hard for me (personal preference because my other half loved it), a quick mention in the morning and when we returned to the room a thick mattress topper had been put on the bed - amazing thank you. The room was cleaned exceptionally well daily, in fact the whole hotel was kept pristine and staff were so friendly. Soft, warm beach towels and always plenty of sunbeds no matter what time of day. I have to say Maintenance was impressive; one day one of the trolleys broke a section around the pool, literally within 10 mins the broken bit was replaced! We don't drink alcohol really but there looked great choice, and the caramel iced lattes and frappes were plentiful. Hydration stations were around the hotel to top up on water and we had bottled water topped up in the room daily. Food I have to say was superb; one of the best all-inclusive we have been to. The difficulty was restricting ourselves! Oh and the desserts - yummy! Prepare to put on a few pounds.... There are a few speciality restaurants and we tried the Asian, but to be honest the buffet had great variety and speciality nights. We didn't venture outside the hotel during our stay but there is a bus stop right outside with great service, and a few bars and shops within walking distance. We have seen the ruins previously so this time didn't feel necessary to visit as I'm sure they are still ruins, and from previous times the harbour offers a lovely meal. Overall great value for money and we will definitely return. We went basic all-inclusive. However, there are some minor imperfections, but that is really down to some guests not the hotel. On the whole most guests were really considerate. Yes, like others say, it is heavily populated with golfers, who generally aren't an issue. There was also a large wedding party stayed during our week and they were lovely. Entertainment, is ok and typical of a hotel, except for the Freddie Mercury Tribute who was really offensive, (particularly if you are from 'up north' and female) in fact several people left during the act (including us), which was a shame because he was one we were looking forward to. A couple of guests in the swim-up rooms below our balcony got a little too 'amorous' in the pool in full view of the 5 floors of rooms above them; part of a bigger group who struggled to hold their alcohol and were VERY loud til about 3 - 4am into the night and around the pool during the afternoons once they resurfaced. Thankfully that was just the last couple of days for us and the exception to the norm. On the whole noise levels were as to be expected in a large hotel, but generally music stopped at midnight, so just the odd couple of stragglers heading back to their rooms. Lastly the bathroom towels could do with updating as a few were looking a bit threadbare and lose fibres dangling - guess that's down to the laundry company but slightly lets down the hotel image. Oh and we didn't have a drying airer on our balcony, so nowhere to hang wet swimwear. (room 315)
We enjoyed our stay at the Leonardo Plaza Cypria Maris Beach Hotel & Spa.
The staff were consistently pleasant and welcoming, our room was spacious, and the shower was very good. The food was generally good, with the speciality restaurants being a particular highlight. The entertainment was also good and added to the overall holiday experience.
There were, however, a few disappointments. Booking the speciality restaurants was unnecessarily difficult, as there was no overall calendar view showing availability. Instead, we had to check each day individually, often only to find that no tables were available. In the end, we visited the very friendly customer services desk, who make the bookings for us without any difficulty. It would be much better if this could be done easily through the booking system.
The bathroom towels were somewhat thin, some were threadbare and well past their best, which was disappointing for a hotel of this standard. The fruit juices also did not taste like genuine fruit juice.
The hotel felt somewhat clinical, largely because of its size. Much of the evening entertainment takes place in the lobby, which lacks atmosphere and feels rather uninviting, with little sense of a cosy place to relax. Entertainment at the pool bar was very good. We would also have appreciated a comfortable outdoor seating area where we could enjoy a drink without being surrounded by smokers.
Overall, the hotel has many positives, particularly its friendly staff, spacious rooms and good food. However, improvements to the towels, restaurant booking system and relaxation areas would make a noticeable difference and help bring the experience up to a higher standard.
Absolutely love this hotel - second visit and both times have been brilliant. The food is really good, the premium drinks upgrade is great. The entertainment was spot on and Kev in the exec bar is a gem 👌🏻
