Our 2nd time in Crete and first time at the Royal Belvedere Hotel, we had a brilliant holiday here as a family of 4. The hotel has everything you could possibly need while you are here, the food was fantastic every day while we were there, our room was clean, spacious and well maintained including a lovely sea view over Hersonissos. All the staff here are friendly and helpful and the bar man Babis is a star...
So we are returning to the Royal Belvedere in Aug 2020, cant wait to come back see you soon.
My friend and I visited this hotel for four nights in October. The hotel is quite large, which is not a problem, but it had no atmosphere. The lobby bar did not open until 5.30 pm, and the only bar open was the snack bar, and the beer there was awful! It may have been near the end of the season, but to me that is no excuse...
We were on full day trips every day, and we could not get a drink!
The food was awful: not four-star. It was cold and the plates were freezing! When I asked for a dish to put my cereal in at breakfast, I could not hold it, it was so hot I nearly dropped it!
The room was quite a way from reception and we had to negotiate steps with suitcases.
On a positive note, the reception staff were very friendly and very helpful. The room was lovely with a fantastic sea view, and the cleaner was really nice.
I will not be going back....
This is a perfect hotel to stay in for a holiday in Crete with family or friends ( or both ). It has delicious food in the form of a buffet,4 pools that you can swim in or relax on the side on a sunbed ( one of them is a baby pool ), rooms with a view of hersonissos, great animators, so you can leave your kid there for a while and it's close to : a beach ( star beach ) where there's a water park and has an entry fee of 8 euro fora whole day, a street where there are many shops and restaurants, many normal beaches suitable for a day out with the family and a walkable distance to the Aquaworld Aquarium & Reptile Rescue Centre. Definitely stay here if you are coming to Crete, you won't regret it !!!
Stayed here for 4 nights as part of an RSD tour of Crete. The hotel is a sprawling resort hotel situated uphill from the slightly seedy Hersonissos.
Our room, in the main block, was basic, worn & with very few amenities. The only redeeming feature was a sea view but even this was marred by the noise from the kitchen below.
The dining experience here for breakfast but particularly dinner was a nightmare...
Finding a free table in the canteen like dining area could take 10 minutes, then you had to join a scrum to get very mediocre food from 2 small hot food stations & 2 cold food stations. Not a relaxing or enjoyable experience.
Trying to attract the attention of a waiter to place a drinks order was also hit & miss, so we gave up.
Reception staff & bar staff were brusque & unfriendly. However, the ladies who cleaned the rooms were lovely & did an excellent job.
Really didn't enjoy the stay & would never recommend. Nor would I recommend the RSD tour.
This hotel and the Imperial Belvedere share all their facilities so there are a lot of pools and other sports. It is clearly mainly a family hotel with children's activities and animation for all ages.
I was there out of season so it was quiet and very pleasant but there are a lot of sunbeds so there should not be a problem even in high season, I guess.
The beach is a long way from the main building and across a busy road...
The most direct route involves walking through another hotel (Star Beach) to reach it, all of which could be a problem for families.
The rooms are large and very clean with plenty of hot water.
I only ate breakfast there but that was fine. As I was not all inclusive I cannot comment on the included drinks but the bartenders in the main bar made a mean Margarita and an excellent G&T as well as having some nice wines by the glass all at reasonable prices.
