As Greece was a safe place to travel according to our government we had booked this resort from 13-27 July 2020. Due to corona restrictions there was no Swedish table at the restaurant. Meaning, a hotel personnel is putting the food you choose on a plate so you have do get a plate with main food, salads, dessert and fruits...
When more people arrived this resulted in huge queus before breakfast, lunch and dinner. As the hotel is not fully booked, you will have to order cleaning yourself at the reception. Unfortunately, it can happen that cleaning forgets you and you will have to tell the reception again to no forget to clean your room. The hotel is mostly filled with families so the animation was also only for children. I must say, it was pretty weak and boring, even for the children. Maybe they had cut in the animation team due to crisis. Having an all inclusive you can use two bars for your free drinks. One of them has also a little 'restaurant' that serves as a lunch place. Again, it might be due to corona restrictions. In conclusion I can advise you to not except superb service or experience from the hotel, mainly due to corona restrictions and the impact of it. There is still plenty to do outside the hotel with cities as Rhodos, Lyndos and Faliraki. You can rent a car for €20 a day.
It was delightfull that we could come to Rhodes afterall this universal mess! and coming to Blue sea resort to stay was a great desicion we've made. Beautifull people, kind workers. It was a pleasure :)
Lovely staff, great facilitys, near the beach, lovely poolareas ,great tasty food and drinks great rooms Easy to go to Rhodos town or Lindos by the localbus
I want to visit Blue Sea beach resort soon again I hope and pray that there will be single rooms for single-travlers soon it is a bit expencive for singles now.
During my 2-week stay at this hotel, I contemplated a lot on how to rate it. On one hand, the staff was first-class and struggled hard to make up for all the flaws, on the other management obviously only cared about making money. So my final grade of 4 stars is combined of two grades: I'm giving 5 stars to the staff and 2 stars to the management. The hotel room was big enough, but the bathroom was tiny...
The room seemed somewhat outdated, for instance our balcony door had a faulty lock. There was a safe, an air conditioning and a fridge at the room. Wi-fi signal was poor and only working in some parts of the room. The hotel facilities overall seemed well maintained. There were enough sunbeds at the pool, however they seemed to be in shortage at the beach, especially when more guests arrived. Some of the sunbeds were broken and still put to use. The animation team excelled. I've never seen such a coherent bunch who would be so welcoming to everybody. It was the first time animators actually encouraged friendship amongst children even though they spoke different languages. I also loved how they incorporated songs in different languages at minidisco - usually they only do German songs (have no idea why 🤔 - as if Germans are the only ones that matter). I also loved activities at the pool, especially morning stretching and yoga. The hotel management took safety measures due to covid-19 pandemic seriously. On entering the hotel and spa, they measured our temperature. The maids only cleaned our room upon explicit request. We were advised to use the stairs instead of lifts. The restaurant had floor signs to mark where you should wait. There was no self-service, staff filled our plates and cups following our orders. Staff also provided us with cutlery. My main disappointment at this hotel were beverages and food. Most drinks were watery, even Cola, whereas juices were too sweet, so I ended up drinking water. Mostly, there was a line at beverage bars (main restaurant, beach bar, pool bar). Dinner at the a la carte restaurant was such a let-down. We only had 3 courses altogether. The first and third course were the same salad and dessert for everyone. We only got to make a selection at our main course, where we could choose among fish, lamb and pork. The plating was unimaginative, fish was bony. The restaurant was indoors and had a suffocating atmosphere. The service seemed pushy and felt like a fast food restaurant. I strongly advise against attempting the a la carte restaurant, you'll have a much better experience at an also disappointing main restaurant, where you can at least sit outdoors. Finally, to the main restaurant. It followed safety measures appropriately, but since it was understaffed, everything quickly fell apart. At every point, there would be long lines. Don't be surprised if it takes you 20 minutes just to get your food, drinks and cutlery. The staff worked quickly and tried hard, but just couldn't follow the demand. The situation got worse when a large German group arrived. They failed to follow any of the safety measures, trying to put food on plates by themselves and disrespected safety distance. There was noone to advise them how to behave - it seems this hotel has a curious preferance of Germans who can get away with everything. Even the staff at beach and pool bar got so used to favoring Germans, that they would talk to you in German despite you speaking to them in English. Menus were repetitive and the food lacked seasoning. I've always loved Greek cuisine, but was let down this time. Since a lot of activities were discarded or diminished because of the pandemic, this hotel is overcharging its service. I paid as if everything was still available, and got just a glimpse of it. Beside the friendly and hardworking staff, the only thing I'll remember from this hotel will be lengthy lines just about everywhere (which got me even more at risk of contracting disease).
Stayed for a week at Blue Sea in October coming to the end of the season. Couldn't fault the staff, or the rooms themselves, we had a lovely time here. The staff are very attentive, we arrived at 4am due to an issue with our flight being delayed and the receptionist who greeted us at the time offered to bring us food from the restaurant which was so kind! We declined as we just wanted to get some sleep at that point...
While we were there we had to complain about noise from the room below us one night and again this was dealt with professionally and efficiently by staff members.
The hotel is right on the beach, the swimming pool is great, and the entertainment is wonderful. We really enjoyed the local tours that were on offer (would recommend Popai tours!) through the reception.
The only way I would say this hotel was let down was just by the lack of staff manning bars and crepe counters during the day and in the evening, there was always a long queue to get drinks which was frustrating and put me off even bothering to go up for anything.
The food was also a bit average, I wouldn't say it was four star quality food, maybe three star. The hotel's buffet service is plentiful but it just felt a bit lackluster, and the a la carte restaurant was also a little bit disappointing. We enjoyed our meals away from the hotel more than we enjoyed the ones there.
If you are a Brit wanting to travel here be aware it is primarily a German hotel for German tourists.
All in all a good trip.
