Disappointed

We visited the hotel with friends to celebrate my 60th birthday. My friends had been before and had enjoyed in previous years. The hotel itself was clean and is situated opposite a lovely beach. Staff in restaurant and pool bar we’re good but unfortunately I cannot say the same for the reception. I had tried many times to book the restaurants but due to being a party of 8 everything was full ( was offered the jungle but at 60 years old I didn’t fancy a child’s theme restaurant. After many days without success I managed to find 11 spaces on Salia restaurant but once I entered four people it was then booked .I spoke to reception and then was told to speak to the manager who was unavailable, so spoke to who I believe was asst manager. When I explained that I was unsuccessful in booking he said he would try his best and email..that was the last I heard from him . My friends payed for a cake to celebrate my birthday and my daughter emailed to enquire if they put a bottle of wine in the room for my birthday, but unfortunately the lady replied that there was more than one person with my name and if she gave arrival/departure date or room number she would look into her enquiry My daughter didn’t have my room number but clearly give arrival and departure date also my husband name, unfortunately the lady did not reply again. I appreciate that many changes have been made Since the pandemic but that should make the Seabank value the customers they have with the hope of a return visit...I certainly won’t return

Disappointed second trip

Review by Blueeyedstar84 Westgate-on-Sea, United Kingdom

This was our second stay at DB seabank, following our honeymoon here 7 years ago.

We came with great expectations as our honeymoon was wonderful however we were very disappointed with our stay.

The Pros

Good food, catering for vegetarians and vegans Clean rooms Lovely spa experience (head to toe by Sonja)

The Cons Hotel looks and feels tired Gym equipment needs to be replaced and updated “Pool view” = Second floor view of toilet block with pool hidden in background (2443) No hot water / water pressure in room Squeaky bed resulting in lack of sleep every night Lack of consistency with rules - smokers in non smoking sections (never enforced), kids in adult only sections Silver wristband to show 2nd visit, gives no benefits at all No one monitoring swimming pool resulting in glass being dropped in pool at night and hurting kids next day

The issues with the water and bed were reported on day 1, day 2 and day 5, but there is a lack of communication and urgency with the staff...

After complaining for 2 days, and the staff sounding fed up, I gave up and just accepted the room as is.

Malta is a beautiful country, one I have visited 5 times. I would visit again but would not use this hotel.

Filipa&Lourdes Portugal to Malta'22

We loved our stay at DB Seabank Resort & SPA and we highly recommend it! We were pleasantly surprised by the positive in several respects. The entire staff was extremely friendly, receptive, attentive, kind and collaborative. A special thanks goes to Jonathan Porta (from Coral Restaurant), to Shruthi GounGoud (room cleaning area) and to all the reception, service and maintenance staff. Fantastic overall. Note 5! There are 7 restaurants in the hotel, several swimming pools and one of them with an area reserved for people over 16 years old. Areas with shades, playing fields, swimming pools for children and adults, entertainment, etc. The room was fantastic, with 2 balconies facing the pools and view of Parish Church of Mellieha, 2 sofas, table, chairs inside and outside, spacious and cleaned daily with rigor and care...

In turn, the environment is also peaceful, which is important for a good quality sleep during the holidays! The hotel is spacious, clean and well-organized, so that we don't come across crowds of people. The internet signal is good throughout the hotel. The nightly entertainment was amazing and different! The hotel has very good professionals/artists, dancers and singers and the shows were versatile and fabulous. Well located in terms of geographic location: beach and public transport in front, with the possibility of traveling to various points of visit on the island, as well as with information available in the entrance hall and at the reception, where employees/tour guides from agencies were daily excursions, of which I highlight the kind and friendly DIANE! The food, especially at the Buffett Coral Restaurant, was varied, based on the most European standard and well prepared. Congratulations to the team.

  • As aspects to improve and constructive criticism to make DB Seabank Resort & Spa even better, we leave the following:
  • We suggest the existence of at least one person who communicates in the Spanish language (already widely used worldwide), since they speak only in English (and not always an easily understood English, which is natural given their language of origin is of different countries and continents).
  • We believe that there should be more options for Vegetarian food (as there was only 1 option at each meal) which limitate us.
  • Typical Maltese dishes were not presented.
  • The fruit was basically always the same type, not varying much.
  • Restaurant hours should be reformulated and managed more flexibly, for example: Laguna Restaurant, with afternoon snack, only between 4pm and 5pm, which greatly limited its use.
  • It would be equally useful and more hygienic to have a space with showers and water taps to remove sand from your feet when coming directly from the beach so as not to dirty the hotel lobby. In summary, we give a very positive assessment of everything, and we recommend this Hotel/Resort!

Fantastic holiday!

Review by Julie K Preston, United Kingdom

Just returned from 11 nights at the DB Seabank! Had a wonderful time! Amazing food-booked into their other restaurants no problems, and enjoyed the food at every one of them. Great service! Exceptionally clean. Pools are great too for kids and adults! Would definitely recommend and we’ll definitely return!

Good quality All Inclusive Hotel.

I have never been able to get up whenever I wanted on holiday and still been able to get a sun bed. These were plentiful in the adults section, which was a revelation!! The adult only swim up bar was a great concept but the water looked a bit dirty and it was so hot it was like a hot tub so we swam in the main pool. This was very overcrowded but it was August so we expected that...

The hotel was very clean and in my opinion didn’t feel run down at all. We had a sea view room which did overlook the road but with the door closed you couldn’t hear the traffic. The view was worth it and as the balcony was in the shade we didn’t have any problems with the air con. There is air con and a fan in each room and we often had to switch the fan off because we were too cold at night.

The food was varied and of good quality. The restaurants were so easy to book so I’m not sure why people struggled. We did book using the QR code and on my phone from our room as soon as we got there and managed to get into three restaurants in a week. All were for an 8:30 sitting. These were still a buffet service which was a bit disappointing. The best meal was the Levant Middle East restaurant. The food was amazing. The Brazilian was disappointing as I feel the cuts of meat weren’t of high enough quality or cooked well enough for this style of restaurant. There was a lack of snacks throughout the day like I’ve had at other AI hotels and I was disappointed that you had to pay for ice cream. However I think the quality of the food in the restaurant was probably better because of this.

Overall it was a lovely restful holiday.
