Albufeira

The aerial shot of the Auramar Beach Resort says it best. Here is a beautifully positioned hotel in a stunning location on the Algarve headland looking out to sea. So no wonder the Auramar Beach Resort is such a popular choice for holidaymakers to the Algarve. Here is a hotel that gives you those unparalleled views, and the opportunity to make the most of the wonderful beach for which the Algarve is famous, but also puts you within easy reach of Albufeira and all its amenities.

Minutes to Albufeira; seconds to the beach - come to the Auramar Beach Resort:

As if there wasn't already enough to recommend it, the Auramar Beach Resort provides all-inclusive accommodation, making the stay as comfortable as the views are spectacular.

All the twin / double rooms are air-conditioned and come with private bathrooms and balcony. Rooms are kitted out with satellite TV (4 UK channels), fridge and a room safe. Irons and hairdryers are also available on request. Sea View rooms are available, you must book a superior room or pay locally for an upgrade if there is availability.

There is a whole world of entertainment waiting for you at the Auramar Beach Resort too. With two exceptional swimming pools, children's pools and a heated indoor pool, you can enjoy a variety of swimming experiences inside, outside and in the sea. With a sauna and relaxing massage service also available in-house you can ease away any lingering tiredness if you've swum a few too many lengths. There are plenty of activities to enjoy on dry land too: ranging from billiards to tennis, and featuring a mini golf tournament every summer.

For a quintessential Algarve holiday, try the Auramar Beach Resort. Close enough to Albufeira and all its amenities, but pleasantly secluded, the hotel is the perfect holiday spot. And you'll never forget those views!

Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.

Mixed bag - see the good and the bad in this review

Review by TheThirdPlanet Brighouse, United Kingdom

This hotel is a bit of a mixed bag of good and bad but overall it’s pleasant.

The good: 1) plenty of sun loungers - just get your towel on them by about 9am or you’ll not get one 2) the food is very nice although sometimes it can be a bit cold. Even food just brought out. Generally a good selection...

Excellent deserts 3) it’s generally clean and tidy 4) showers are powerful and no problem with the water temperature

The bad: 1) by far the biggest issue is the queues for ALL bars (day & night). Expect to spend half your holiday queuing. They could address this by having self service beer and soft drinks but they don’t and if they only have one person serving, it can take some time. You get the impression the hotel tries to save money 2) the times which the day bars open are strange 11:00-18:00 for the pool bar; 14:00-18:00 for the kids bar. So don’t expect to be able to get food and drink all the time - you can’t 3) on windy days (and you will get them) the umbrellas which protect you from the sun can turn into flying missiles. The supports aren’t solid enough and I did see multiple people almost get struck in the head. The poles and spines could easily take your eye out.

The OK: 1) rooms are basic but you should be aware of this by the photos 2) the entertainment on a night is a bit repetitive and very basic. Only 2 of 14 nights had a performance which was very good (guest performers) The rest were not creative. As an example one was bingo night

Would I recommend this hotel? Well it’s not bad as long as you are ok with the negatives above.

Great 3* hotel

Review by honest_gurrrrl London, United Kingdom

I thought this hotel was very good for a 3* hotel. The hotel was very clean and the facilities were good.

The deck chairs around the pool area were a bit worn but otherwise fine...

All inclusive was good. Pools were nice and one pool was deep so it was okay for kids to jump in etc.

Food in the dining area was good with a variety of meals everyday and a good selection. Good vegetarian options as well.

The rooms were very dated and although cleaned regularly they could do with updating.

I’d like to thank the reception staff, unfortunately I forgot his name. He was there on the night of the 26th, grey almost shoulder length hair and a slight limp. He waited for us and kept us a bag containing some food to tie us over for the evening. I thought this was such a lovely gesture. In general the reception staff were very helpful.

We were an Asian family and I did feel like a lot of people stared at us. Maybe not but collectively we did feel slightly uncomfortable. It wasn’t too much of a problem.

Location of hotel is great!

Overall I was very pleased staying here. It exceeded my expectations of a 3* hotel and would highly recommend to families.

Astonishing location, but needs a bit of improvement

Review by Noam_66364 London, United Kingdom

We stayed from the 15th to the 23rd of June - LOCATION: The Resort is set in a beautiful location on the cost, literally 3 min walk down to the beach, an astonishing view of Albufeira Old Town, which is a nice 30 min-walk across the beach. There are 3 outdoor swimming pools, one up 3.2m deep, and the other up to 1.7m deep, and then a small one for children, and one indoor pool, but I preferred to spend time at the beach honestly, because that's what I came for. There is also a small, beautiful area called "The love tree”, with a swing facing the panorama, where you could have left a shell with your name...

ROOM: The room was spacious and nice, with a nice balcony facing one of the swimming pools, and a small corner facing the ocean, however, when we booked, we asked for a sea view, and I don't believe it was respected, as we were on complex C ground floor, but the resort was fully booked so we kept the room. Cleanliness was always great, with fresh towels every day, but when I called reception asking for 1 extra set of towel and bath math for the bathtub/shower on the first day, I was told they only give set of towels based on the people occupying the room, so no more than 2 sets. Thankfully, the cleaners left extra towels and bathmat for us. Beds were very comfortable and when requested, room and linen were changed accordingly. I asked for extra hangers and they gave me some straight away. They don’t provide hair dryer though, so I would advise to bring one from home (I usually don't use it on holiday, but I believe it should be provided for any guest necessity). FOOD: We opted for the all-inclusive package - the Aura restaurant was all you can eat buffet, and the food was overall tasty and nice but, I think they need some improvement: Not enough variety of food (since some days there was the same food for both breakfast, lunch, and dinner), except for dessert and Ice cream area. Secondly, I think the quality for some meals/food should be checked better as I had two unpleasant episodes: On my first day I wanted to try a GF muffin, which was served in small packages, but when I opened it, was all mouldy and the odour was quite unpleasant. I notified this to a waitress mentioning that I might have gotten one that was out of date, and I also apologised and mentioned I didn't want to cause any troubles, but then I saw her going to her supervisor, and I'm afraid that my comment was not taken nicely as none of them came even back to apologise or something. I've worked in hotels so I know what it means receiving complaints, that's why I felt guilty on informing them, because I didn't know how they would take it, but my intentions were just to make them aware in case anyone else would have complained about. It was an unlucky episode I get it, I wasn't expecting a special treat or refund at all, because overall, breakfast was always nice, but maybe a little apology and thank you for the feedback might have been appreciated. Another unlucky episode was on my last day, when I opted for tomato pasta, which surprisingly, was very sweet, even my friend and partner tasted it, just to make clear I wasn't dreaming, but I didn't want to complain about it. In terms of the cocktails at the bar, I'm so sorry to say it, but anything I ordered during my stay was tasting water. Plus, the drink list for all-inclusive package was not quite clear and very limited: I had to pay for a gin tonic with Hendricks separately, which I did with pleasure because at least that one was tasting something. Few things that I found little strange were that you had to pay a deposit of 10 euros, for having a key for the room, and only one key was provided, if you wanted 2, you should have paid extra 10 euros. secondly, the use of safe in the room was chargeable either 5 euros a day or 15 euros a week, but I get it's the resort's conditions. STAFF: Reception staff was friendly and available, they helped us on booking our airport transfer as well. Cleaners were super friendly and kind, the animation staff was very friendly and funny, but I personally spent most of the time at the beach or outside the resort itself, so I only enjoyed few activities. Restaurant staff was fine, but I didn't find it quite friendly, needs a bit of improvement. Last thing I was slightly sad about, was that I wanted to go for a massage, but the resort didn't have the massage therapist available; I know it's not their fault as all the hospitality industry is facing understaff problems, but I would have enjoyed at least if they had a place to suggest for massage. Overall, we had a nice stay, but I don't feel like giving them 5 stars because I believe they should do improvements, which I'm sure they will for the future. I will come back at some point especially because of its location. Thank you for everything and hope to see you soon. :) PS: A bit of advice for all travellers: Since there's the option to have meals in the restaurant terrace, DO NOT LEAVE ANY FOOD ON THE TABLE while you're at the buffer, because the cheeky sea crawls and seagulls will steal the food LOL

Great hotel, great location and amazing food

Review by wherejoeygoes London, United Kingdom

We stayed at Auramar for 9 days with the all-inclusive package and were certainly not disappointed! Upon checking into the hotel on Day 1, we received a complimentary glass of champagne from the reception staff. I must say a special thank you to Ion who gave us an especially warm welcome upon arrival.

The hotel's location is perfect - giving us direct access to the beach (Praia dos Alemães) with many beautiful bars and restaurants nearby...

The hotel is a short walk from the Albufeira Strip and a 20-minute walk to the Old Town. The hotel does offer a free shuttle service to the Old Town which runs multiple times a day. We used it a lot as it was a thoughtful and convenient amenity. This reduced the need for taxis during our stay.

The food was exceptional. Every day there was a diverse range of tasty meats, salads, sauces and loads more. By day two, we were excited about what was in store for our lunch and dinner buffet meals.

The room was clean, with a stunning sea-view balcony overlooking the main pool and Praia dos Aveiros.

This was our first time in Portugal and we had a lovely time as a family at this hotel; would absolutely recommend it!
