Areias de Sao Joao is one of the Algarve's most popular tourist resorts and the newly refurbished Belver Hotel Da Aldeia takes full advantage of its excellent location set just half a mile from the famous Praia da Oura Beach, a golden stretch of sand perfect for sunbathing and which offers a variety of watersports. The hotel is only a little over a mile from the centre of Albufeira and we recommend you visit just to wander around the quaint streets of the Old Town or enjoy a drink as you watch the sun go down over the Mediterranean Sea.
The Belver Hotel da Aldeia offers a fabulous selection of facilities to ensure your stay is comfortable including swimming pools for both adults and children and boasts a well-landscaped garden. The hotel has a choice of restaurants including a traditional Portuguese restaurant as well as a Sushi tapas bar serving a range of mouth-watering delicacies.
Spacious street view rooms are air-conditioned/heated with a private, furnished balcony. All have en-suite facilities, satellite TV, direct dial telephone and a safe deposit box (on request). Standard pool view rooms are available at a supplement.

Run run and never look back... Why? Just because the hotel ha no sense of service... It's only quality is being not too far from sea... Hotel is on reservation on all expedia booking and other despite it is fully closed due to Covid19... If I could score less I would do it...
Stayed here the beginning of October, our rooms weren't ready when we arrived but Leonardo on reception told us where to leave our cases and we went for walk. Our room faced the strip which was noisey until 4 in the morning, which I enjoyed people watching with a glass off wine on the balcony. Rodger the barman on the terrace was lovely and helpful (thanks Rodger) x The rooms are basic but clean. I would definitely stay here again. Thanks to Leonardo ,Rodger and the rest off the staff for a brilliant holiday.
Imagine our shock when we arrived to stay 1st feb -4th 2020. Sign on the door said closed until the 22nd Feb for renovation!! Luckily our taxi driver waited with us and had to drive us 10 minutes down the road to the Belver as directed by the sign on the door. Phew, all ok right?! Nope!!! The belver had no record of us at all...
Thankfully I had email confirmation and correspondence from last June about my passport so I could email the belver so they could charge the Aldeia for our stay. Nightmare! We’re still at the belver now and it’s slightly out of where we wanted to be (€10 one way to the new town). Not happy but at least we didn’t have to sleep on the beach! We only wanted somewhere to lay our heads and by the looks of things, I’m sorry but it’s gonna need a lot longer than the 22nd of February to spruce it up.... looked VERY worn down. Don’t bother guys, trust me. Pay a little more and stay elsewhere!! We booked through booking.com but they never knew about it being closed either, quite happy to take our money but said that it’s done through “3rd party” so they couldn’t do anything for us!
Hotel very basic, near the a strip as i dont mind music but it was absolutely amazingly loud even after a load of beer i still woke up, nearly everyone or tried to move to other side of hotel which was nealy as noist take ear defenders or ear plugs and im not joking, food just okay, coffee machines in restraunt were good, staff try their best but due to the noise they get lots of complaints, id personly stay in the old town area if i go again, best bar here is wild&co expensive drinks but theirs most nights live bands on, merc taxis are cheaper the the tuk tuks, but its your choice, i do like albufeira though, lots to do, the old town is crazy at night and very nice beaches... 😜
Reading some of the review on here myself and my partner were absolutely dreading arriving at this hotel.. however we had a great experience! Our room was a pool view (which we paid for at time of booking) room 116. Was spotless, room was cleaned daily with fresh towels...
Dont get me wrong the room was dated and would benefit from a lick of paint however we honestly couldnt complained about the room one bit! The food wasnt great intact we were half board and ate out 5 out of our 7 nights! One of the men in the restaurant I assumed was the manager with the way he went on, not professional what so ever and always appeared to be more interested in catering for the bus trips that visited the hotel most nights instead of the hotel guests that were paying good money to be there! If visiting I would recommend self catering as the food is really really bad!!! All hotel staff were very friendly apart from the man in the restaurant.
Great Location, plenty of places to eat and drink around! Short walk from the beach too!
Great size swimming pool, very deep! Was freezing but it is October!! The pool was dirty and could do with being emptied and filled again! I did however see chemicals etc being added to the water to clean!
Entertainment a couple of nights on our holiday! Great laugh, however we were out and about most nights!
I love portugal and have visited many times! The hotel is in a great location! It is only a 3* and you can tell why! However we were just glad that our room was clean! Disappointed about the food however we would return to this hotel however make sure next time we are self catering!
Overall we had a fab holiday!
