Great place with some potential

Review by frank_B_ch Switzerland

Food, very good. Unfortunately after dinner no outside bar open, Indoor bar at the reception is not really cosy. Staff is very friendly and helpful...

Rooms a big and clean. Maybe a refurb at the outside dining area would also do. Other than that we do enjoy our holidays, enjoying the weather and the beautiful beach

View only partial view.

Arrived 1-2 hours early, happy to hang out by pool until check-in. However, it was odd how the room was conveniently ready exactly at check-in time, not a minute sooner.

Room was supposed to have view, it was only a partial view. Best to not stay on the far left wing as the palm trees will obstruct your view on the top floor (they are shorter to the right, hence a partial view if you angle yourself towards that direction on the balcony)...

Given the price of the hotel and room with a "view", I called to ask about the room and lack of full view. Spoke with two individuals and neither did anything about it. Even if your full view rooms are "full", I would of imagined you would compensate in another way. That was not the case.

Main pool is nice and was surprising quiet given the size of the hotel and that the adult pool was closed during my stay. Close to beach. Spa is lovely, and quiet as well.

Overall nice, but not worth the price paid.

Missing stuff

Stayed here for a family wedding, I was with my partner and two young children (3y old & 7m old) I came very prepared with baby food and bought lots of ella’s kitchen pouches with me from home. Unfortunately after the first day we came back to our room and over 10 pouches were missing. We spoke to the concierge who found it quite funny and said ‘the house keeper wouldnt take baby food I know her’...

We of course wasn’t happy with the response so spoke to the manager who said he checked and no one took our stuff. So we were basically being accused of lying about our sons baby food. Definitely not a 5 star hotel, they dont know how to treat their guests.

Relaxing and happy memories of a family event

Review by 193garyk Horsham, United Kingdom

We stayed at the VidaMar for 11 nights. The primary reason for the trip was a family wedding, at the VidaMar. We arrived late on a Saturday evening, following a delay to our flight, the transfer was around 45/60 minutes...

The reception area is large and well presented with the accommodations accessed corridors either side of the reception area. Check in was straight forward and the staff member who checked us in was polite and informative of all the issues we needed to know for the coming days.

We paid an upgrade for a room over looking the pool which was situated on the first floor. The room was a good size well presented. Decent sized bed. Bathroom was of a good size with power shower. There was a decent number of power outlets for charging purposes. In room safe, which was easy to set up, balcony with table and chairs with a nice view of grounds looking towards the beachfront.

The day to day house keeping teams were hard working in all areas of the hotel. From your room to the halls, reception and the outside areas. We had no issues with our room through out the time we stayed and were impressed with the level of cleanliness and presentation on a daily bases.

We only stayed bed and breakfast. We found this to be of a good standard. Large selections of pastries, cereal, fruit, cooked meats and cheeses. The cooked elements were of a good standard. Including bacon, scrambled eggs, beans, mushrooms, tomatoes and a short order cook who did fresh omelettes and fried eggs to order.

The pool area was kept clean and presentable. You are given cards for pool towels which you exchange each day. There is a poolside bar and restaurant for drinks and light meals. Which was again well staffed and it’s menu was simple but adequate for a light meal during the day. You could either sit at a table or have your food in takeaway containers at the poolside. There are three pools well spaced out. The only issue the was the age of the sun loungers. There is access to the beach which has a bar and restaurant a short walk away. The beach is clean and had a mixture of locals and tourists.

As other reviews there is only one bar, located in the reception area. It closes at midnight. Even though there were queues sometimes, the bar staff always worked hard and the prices were not overly expensive. The spa is on the lower floor and has a separate pool. We had a treatment each and was more than happy with the standard of our session. There is a small shop on the lower which is very limited. However there is a supermarket within ten minutes walk of the hotel with a decent selection of all day to day items you may need to during your stay.

The VidaMar is situated 10 minutes from the marina and 15 minutes from the old town. Uber are available or the reception are happy to call you a taxi if you prefer. Usually wait time is 10/15 minutes so bear this in mind when making plans.

The VidaMar is a nice hotel in a quiet area. The staff are hard working and engaging. The food (breakfast) is of a decent standard. We had no issues with any elements of our stay and would be happy to stay there again in the future. Elements of the resort were not open simple because they are not needed. Due to the reduced numbers that are currently visiting.

As I said we attended a family wedding at the VidaMar. The service and reception went off perfectly and everyone had a fantastic experience. Again staff worked hard and made sure that everyone’s needs were met.

We wish all the team at the VidaMar well and thank them for a very enjoyable holiday.

Just who exactly assigned 5 Stars?

Review by Lonnie S La Crosse, Wisconsin

The resort is sprawling and has all of the amenities that you would expect, but where they received their “5 star” rating that they tout is beyond me. The room was spacious and comfortable. Check in was fine...

We had a relatively late check in and we were hungry so we called to make sure that we could eat at the buffet dinner, we were told to hurry because last seating was being completed. Arrived to chaos, our service was left to a confused bus boy who asked us to write out our drink orders and tried his best as he tried to find a “head master” who never came. Bugs were terrible outside so we moved indoors which created more confusion with servers. The atmosphere resembled a mid level ski resort food court. Meanwhile, diners were seated for another hour after we were told that seating was closed and we were lucky to get in. Overall dining at the buffet was disappointing at best. Regarding our room, it was comfortable to be sure, but the room safe did not work and plumbing for the water saving toilets was also not working correctly which doesn’t seem to reach 5 star level. We did enjoy our time at the walkway accessible beach, but the beach is not private, cabanas are run by an outside company and open to the public. Overall, this a nice, affordable family resort, but does not approach “5 stars.”
