Upon arrival you are greeted to the most horrific smell of smoke throughout the entire lobby area. There is a smoking room behind reception and the door is left open so people may as well be smoking inside the hotel. If you don't love the smell of smoke you will probably feel like you could be sick every time you go through the reception area. As I had read bad reviews about the first floor I asked upon check in if we could stay on a higher floor...
The gentleman said no, it wasn't possible as though the rest of the rooms were booked. They weren't - this is during covid and not peak season and we noticed there weren't many people about. We would later find out that this floor was well known as the "Fiesta Floor" and we were a family travelling with our parents. Our room was right above the smoking room and stank of smoke and made me feel constantly queasy. As well as this there was a pool table directly below my bed, so after a long day of travelling we were kept awake until after midnight with the sound of people hitting pool balls. From around midnight until 6am we had multiple neighbours up all night shouting, screaming, being very intimate, running multiple baths and showers and playing loud TVs and music. The walls in this hotel are paper thin so we had to ensure every single sound. We were awake all night and visited and called reception multiple times to ask for something to be done about it. When the noisy people were asked to be quiet they shouted crude and horrible things at us. The night porter could not speak English but communicated that he could not move us or kick them out until the next day. The whole thing was a nightmare and ruined our short weekend as we were exhausted for the rest of our stay. We were moved to a higher floor the next day which was better but the walls were still paper thin so you could hear everything your neighbour was doing. As well as this, our key card was not working - we walked back down and back up the 4 flights of stairs (didn't want to get the lift because of covid) to reception 3 times, waited 10 minutes each time to be spoken to and each time the woman told us that it was working and to "try again". After that she finally sent a maintenance man to fix it. We expected a refund for our first night as we had paid for somewhere to sleep and didn't manage a single wink. We made sure to express our concerns every day to the reception. One gentleman (the only one who seemed to care) advised that he would refund our parking as compensation - we still advised that we expected a refund for the night of terrors. At checkout the girl at reception said she wasn't aware of the situation - which is unacceptable to have had 5 very upset guests stay and not communicate it to the staff who would be working on the day of checkout. She put her boss on the phone to me - he was very angry and aggressive and said that it was bank holiday so he could not deal with the request, that we would not be receiving any compensation and that his colleague had even lied about the parking refund. He said that we should have let them know that we were unhappy before check out so that they could have fixed it - we had complained about 6 or 7 times during the first night and had made sure to remind several people at the reception at least twice a day for the rest of our stay that we were unhappy and were expecting a refund. Every person we spoke to said that the manager was aware of the situation and will see what he can do. A few days later we were sent €38 despite paying €195 for the first night and €68 for parking.
We have been to this hotel before and we were very pleased but after this visit we will not return to this hotel again. Let's start by booking a room with a hot tub and unfortunately when we arrived at the hotel and although the reservation was made six months in advance our room was not and we were given a regular room temporarily, which meant that the next day we had to go through a discomfort room again. At the time of the reception we gave the wrong ticket to the room and we had to go down twice to reception until the correct ticket was received. The thing that most bothered us was that from 11am to 5pm there was no air conditioner in the room !! You could not rest, you could not be in a room full of heat at the reception said it was the hotel's procedures. This ruined our entire vacation there (and we had a week at the hotel) In a dining room there was not always food that was prepared or especially varied with the desserts, the desserts were not replaced at all. Sadly disappointed
Just as a starter, the Hotel staff is really trying but with mediocre results.
After booking we asked the hotel about their parking and didn’t get an answer. The hotel got own parking places for reasonable prices but they were booked out hence we had to go to a 1km distant parking for 20EUR per day.
Check-in was ok, the room is actually nice, clean and modern...
And breakfast is good and a great offer. Now the problems:
The hotel is in the middle of quite a lot of clubs, the noises can be heard through all of the windows until at least 2-3 (nothing the hotel can do about it).
The pool on the roof is great with two jacuzzis and a small pool with a great view. However hotel staff doesn’t enforce their rules (dogs in the pool area, at least not in the pool). Face masks while being in open area (or face masks half heartedly put)
No additional services like arranging trips, some music etc. elevators really limited so you might need to wait 15 minutes with your luggage as again Someone actually wanted to go up but was called down and needed to stay in one of the two elevators (and they are small). Dogs also seemed to be allowed throughout the hotel and with the clubs next door are not the happiest (at least they calm down rather quickly after barking).
TV Spanish only even so the hotel has really international guests...
Would I book the hotel again? No, is it bad neither... but I think for the party folk it is too expensive and family oriented, for families too loud. My bad Lloret is still Lloret.
I travelled to Lloret De Mar with wife in August 2019, stayed at the Astoria Park for a week, half board, lots of pluses and minuses here.
Pluses: Excellent food, buffet breakfast (churros & chocolate) and supper (chocolate fountainS, lots of fresh fruit), very close to the beach, nightclubs, supermarket, tourist market etc... Phenomenal front desk staff, spoke multiple languages, and very helpful with local advice. Special thank you to Joanna who was extremely knowledgeable and helpful for us. Also, very comfortable beds/pillows, in room fridge if you ask for it.
Neutral: Pet friendly, great if you have a pet, if not.....
Negatives: Paper thin walls, you can hear barking dogs, noisy neighbours (lots) and sex in the neighbouring rooms - makes sleep a little challenging. Rooms could be updated a little, bathroom very clean but otherwise a bit disappointing. There is a pool on the roof, but it is microscopic, and closes very early in the evening. Not a big deal the sea is a couple blocks away. VERY noisy neighbourhood and windows that do NOT shut out the sound. If you want to come to Lloret to party, this is THE perfect hotel for you, if you want a good night's sleep, maybe check somewhere else further south.
I have to say we could not fault this hotel. Staff, which I believe is so important were excellent, the location is so central it was fantastic. It rained while we were here and because we were two minutes away from the bus station we just hopped on a bus and saw some great locations...
Buses are linked with trains so any journey is on time and linked so you will not miss a train if you are going by bus. i have to say that all the shops closed at 9.30 pm as out of season so do not expect the same as Benidorm or Alicante at this time of year . My review , my second time here and i will return again. Last visit in Oct. and was way bussier
