Benalmadena

This beach-front, luxurious hotel boasts a privileged position on the sea promenade for leisurely walks and right on the Benalmádena marina. Those staying at this up-scale accommodation option will be able to appreciate the varied entertainment and dining offer in the surrounding area. Moreover, Malaga airport is a mere 20 kilometres away from the premises. All the spacious and contemporary guest rooms are the best spaces in which visitors may relax during their stay. They include useful amenities such as tea and coffee making facilities and the superior rooms also offer exclusive welcoming amenities and scenic views from a large balcony. Guests can unwind at the spa and wellness centre and sample delicious international and Mediterranean specialities at the on-site restaurant. The hotel is also provided with a large swimming pool for guests to get a good sun-tan at the deck.

Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.

A nice hotel but tired, in need of TLC

Review by vanessa c Leicestershire, United Kingdom

This hotel is in an excellent position, in walking distance of the Marina, shops and bars. Bus stops to other resorts are outside the hotel. There is a lift down to beach level...

Rooms are good, hairdryer, kettle & tea, coffee renewed every day. Rooms facing the pool get the sun in the morning, rooms facing west get the sun in the afternoon, which we prefer. We requested a low floor room and got 2nd floor which meant we didn’t need the lift. Those higher up had to wait for lifts especially at meal times. Breakfast was good, with everything from porridge, fruit, eggs & bacon, omelettes, pancakes. Two toasting machines which were useless. Long queues as we had to put bread through the machine 3 times to get any colour on them. Dinner was ok, with some different themes but basically buffet choice. We usually found something we liked but the food was always lukewarm. There is one microwave if you want to warm your food up. In the Bar, prices were not bad, entertainment a bit hit and miss, but good entertainment two nights we were there, but lots of bars around the hotel too. Go to the bar and order your own drinks, rather than wait for waiter, as we were charged wrong a couple of times. The PoolBar was ok, not much choice of food. Staff were always friendly. If you have an early flight, be aware your room won’t be ready until 2 pm - not so good if you have been up since 2 am. Reps were always around too. My tip, get a taxi to the airport, Malaga airport is horrendous, taxi was €23, which meant we got to the airport before the coaches, and straight through. Many people missed their flights as security and passport queues were horrendous. Also, don’t shop in Duty Free, go straight through into security and passport control, there is another smaller Duty Free air side. Overall a good holiday, but the hotel needs sprucing up really. Not enough public toilets throughout the hotel, one ladies toilet in the Lounge Bar, with long queues. Pool toilets not bad. By the way, we felt Ill on the last but one day, thought it was the heat affecting us, however we tested when we got home and we’re positive for Covid!

Best holiday in many years

Review by Lynton S Manchester, United Kingdom

I was researching the Tui Riviera Blue Hotel, probably six months ago, the reviews were mostly positive and the location looked ideal, a ten minute walk to the most beautiful, vibrant and colourful marina, hosting numerous shops, bars and restaurants. So, as my wife and I hadn’t holidayed for around three years and I was approaching a big birthday, we decided to take the plunge and celebrate that special occasion for 2 weeks, from April 17th at the Tui Blue Riviera Hotel in Benalmadena. This is an “adults only” hotel, very much focussed on comfort, relaxation, excellent cuisine, entertainment and sensational customer service...

If that sounds like, “you” then hopefully, this hotel is very likely going to meet all your expectations. The hotel is bright and airy, with spacious, bedrooms, super king sized bed, large bathroom, “walk in,” shower, balcony and in our case, a side sea view. Our room (510) was spotlessly clean and maintained beautifully each day, with towels changed frequently, sometimes each day. There is so often criticism regarding food in hotels, but my wife and I came to a very immediate conclusion, that, with such a choice of cuisine at the Riviera, if you weren’t able find something to eat at this hotel, then truly, holidays are not for you, because whilst everything was beautifully presented and skilfully produced, whether for breakfast or dinner, there was always a generous variety of both traditional and continental hot dishes, both vegetarian and non vegetarian, including fresh salads, fresh fruit, etc, etc, etc – something for everyone. The standard of service in the restaurant is second to none, (you could even have the meal as you preferred by your own personal chef at,“Show Cooking”) and the girls work so incredibly hard in order to maintain a very high standard – tables are cleared and re-dressed and food replenished, in lightening fashion. Although every person connected with the restaurant was fantastic, I would love to personally mention and thank two persons in particular. Firstly, Roberto, the very experienced Italian Restaurant Manager, who reserved a convenient, same table for us, due to my troublesome Sciatica and the lovely, Carmen, who equally looked after us every day and took a personal interest, making sure we had everything we needed. Evening entertainment in the lounge/bar was varied and whilst, perhaps, not to everyone’s taste, I felt the standard was pretty high, with the likes of tributes to “Abba,” “Michael Jackson,” “Il Divo,” etc, were all received with enthusiasm and complemented by Rai and Christina who presented the nightly shows as well as fronting Tui’s daily animation team. Also worth mentioning one lounge bar team member, “Ana,” (my wife’s new “Soul Mate), who has the most endearing personality – nothing was too much trouble for her and finally I would like to mention and thank, “Mar” who works behind reception. Reception is the first point of contact between guest and hotel. She has a fantastic way with all her guests and I’m sure she will have a great future in hospitality. So in conclusion, there is much to say about the accommodation, the food, the entertainment etc etc, at the Riviera, but it is, without question, the Riviera staff who are at the forefront of this hotel’s success and the reason why, clearly, so many return year after year. Thanks Tui, for a great holiday.

A lovely week away

My husband and I just had a lovely weeks break in the riviera, the hotels in a great position with access to the beach or to the main road. The food was really good, more so the evening meals than the breakfast but plenty of choice. A good size pool area and an outside daytime snack bar is available...

The hotel was nice and quiet and in a good location to go for nice walks along the prom. We have visited the hotel twice before over last few years and will do again. Benalmadena is a lovely place to visit.

Excellent Hotel

Review by 730jeremyh Bedfordshire, United Kingdom

Stayed here for 7 nights end of April and the whole experience was excellent, all the staff we encountered were very friendly and helpful. The food at the pool bar was very good and reasonably priced and the main restaurant for breakfast and dinner was excellent, I know it’s all personal choice but even fussy eaters would struggle not to find something to eat, we thought all meals were very good and worth giving the a la carte one a visit too. The room was spotless and very spacious...

We sent a couple of requests in advance and both were actioned by the hotel. The evening entertainment was very good on most nights but again is down to personal choice and will not suit everyone, although at one end of the bar they had a telly showing football most nights which was good for some extra entertainment. No trouble getting a sun bed at any time of the day only a few early risers bagging a few beds. The views from the pool and restaurant were excellent and would definitely visit this hotel again.
