DON’T EXPECT TO SLEEP AT NIGHT!!

BE WARNED THAT EVERY NIGHT there is music that is not blocked out by the double glazed doors. It comes from the roof top chill out bar, that while we were there had no more than 6 people in it ever. BUT tonight, Thursday, there is an incredibly loud DISCO right underneath our part of the hotel (poolside) that you have absolutely NO CHANCE of sleeping through. Reception tell me it may go on until 12.30 ‘maybe’. They don’t care clearly or everyone that books ‘poolside’ room as we did for the view would be warned of this...

It’s absolutely unacceptable that you book a room that cannot actually be slept in until 12.30 and they aren’t even sure about that! Goodness knows what a family with children would do. DO NOT GO TO THIS HOTEL! unless you don’t want to sleep.

Superb holiday in an amazing location

My wife, myself and my 12 year old daughter stayed at this hotel from 28 May to 4 June on an all inclusive basis (travelled with Jet 2 holidays). It was our 4th attempt at trying to stay here, given the pandemic. We were not disappointed at all and very pleased that we pursued our stay here...

We booked a premium room which was on the 6th floor - the views were amazing. The staff were brilliant and were always only too willing to help. I thought the food was excellent, with a good selection of dishes at each meal. The rooms were very nice and quite spacious. La Cala De Mijas is a truly lovely resort, with an array of shops and bars. The beach is fabulous and very clean. We had an excellent holiday and would definitely like to return again next year. Thank you to all the staff for looking after us so well and for your patience with me practicing my Spanish!!

Definitely wouldn't recommend.

Very poor quality hotel. Definitely would not recommend! There is no way this is a 4* hotel. I'm actually pleased we never booked all inclusive...

The buffet was substandard. Food was just sitting in oil, although the cold foods ie salads looked fresh. I arrived about 1am, there was only a security guard at reception who didn't speak any English and it took about 30 minutes to finally get checked in. The air conditioning in the room didn't work, 3 times I reported it and am still waiting 7 days later for someone to fix it.

You have to pay €10 per day for parking!!

Beach towels are provided ONLY ONCE YOU HAVE PAID A €10 deposit. OK fair enough I understand that HOWEVER if you want fresh towels you have to pay another €10 to cover the cost of cleaning!!

The pool area is unkempt and bins are over flowing. I'm yet to see a member of staff cleaning the grounds.

The toilets in the pool area are pretty clean however 3 times I went to use them and there was no toilet paper and no one to ask so be prepared to walk back into the hotel to use them or go back to your room.

The location is great and is situated right on the beach.

The staff at the beach bar were by far the most friendliest.

The evening entertainment was pretty diabolical with very little 'entertainment' actually happening.

There was one particular man in reception who was by far the rudest and most unhelpful person I have ever dealt with. He definitely should not be in the hotel industry.

The bedrooms were spacious and clean with plug sockets by the beds. The maids kept the rooms nice and towels were changed daily. There was plenty wardrobe space and drawers. I bought my own hangers as I know in most hotels you don't get many.

There is no tea or coffee facilities in the room but there is a fridge and a supermarket up the road so you can keep your own drinks chilled.

There is a TV on the wall, just your standard UK channels.

Definitely won't be coming back that's for sure.

Great location

Stayed at the Vik grand 5th to the 9th, it is a great location for the hotel. We found it to be a very clean hotel and very helpful staff, right on the beach. Only niggle was the choice of food and for me the tea as being British we do like our tea and the tea bags were not strong enough also be good to have little milk jugs as we had to use a cup...

But out of a hundred I’d deff give it 98 %. Thank you for a pleasant stay😀

Great Holiday

Review by Lveetee Derby, UK

Lovely hotel. We had a fourth floor room on all inclusive basis looking across the car park to the sea. It got the sun all evening so was perfect for me while waited hours for my daughter to get dressed for a night out...

Lovely room too.

The food was amazing - simply the best I’ve had on an all inclusive basis. A wide variety of choice but not very English. Don’t expect any chicken nuggets and fish fingers for the kids! However, I found the food to be of an extremely high standard. The buttermilk chicken one evening and Turkey kebabs were fantastic. Absolutely delicious.

The staff were fantastic. Everyone was really friendly even though they were very busy during Easter week. The room was cleaned daily and fresh towels left out. The bar staff were very welcoming and friendly, working with a smile on their faces.

A few things that didn’t suit us were that the pool was too shallow. Fine for an Easter break but I would be a bit frustrated in summer when you really want a swim. There was also very little entertainment in the hotel and the all inclusive snacks and times weren’t very well advertised. Just as well really because we were full from the meal times but I found that a bit confusing.

However they were minor issues and we had a fantastic holiday. Thank you to everyone at the Vik Gran for looking after us so well and making our stay a memorable one.
