Perfect for couples for adults only. Excellent value for money. Well situated and with a breathtaking view from all rooms...
Nice big balconies. Helpful and Service minded people in the reception. Breakfast very good with many different fresh fruits and juices
I booked the Royal ses Savines hotel for 5 days in June and paid in full in advance. The hotel then had to close due to Coronavirus and Catalonia Hotels cancelled my booking. I have repeatedly asked for a refund of my money but despite numerous emails and phone calls no refund has been made...
I spoke with Mónica at the hotel’s reception and with Angeles in Marketing, then with Isabel in Support. Each said they would arrange for my refund to be paid but nothing has happened. Last week I spoke with Jesús from Catalonia Rewards and he also said he would get my refund paid but still nothing. It is now 3 months since my booking was cancelled and 8 months since I paid in full for it but I have still not received any refund. This delay is extremely disappointing, especially from a hotel group with a good reputation like Catalonia Hotels. I would urge people who are considering this hotel, or any other in the Catalonia Hotels chain, to think carefully before making any booking at this time. I would certainly advise not to pay in advance because it is extremely difficult to get any refund should things go wrong. It would be great if Daniel Cortina Ullate, D. G. at Royal Ses Savines, could act to help me receive the refund that I am owed.
I’m not sure what to think about this hotel. Let me start with the positive things: the hotel is in a very nice area, the rooms are large and all offer sea views, and they have the largest bed I’ve ever seen in a hotel! The hotel itself has two swimming pools with nicely manicured gardens, and the rooftop pool has very nice views over the sea. Staff in general is friendly too!
However, we expected more of the hotel considering all the excellent reviews we had seen...
When we arrived, we found the hotel only has 5 (!) parking spaces which are shared with its sister hotel Ses Estaques. The nice receptionist indicated it was no problem to leave the car on the hotel premises for that night, and advised us for the next nights to park on the street behind the hotel. The next morning we had a paper on the windshield indicating we should not have parked there. The following night, we tried to find a parking space in the street (as advised), only to find there was barely any parking space available - in the end we had to walk quite a distance to the hotel. For two hotels with together 200+ rooms, 5 parking spaces seems a bit.. Scarce?
During one of the days we decided to chill by the rooftop pool. Only there we found there is no bar - there is a phone which you can use to order drinks from the pool bar on ground level. That works, but in the afternoon (16h) there is no food menu at all. You can’t even order a small snack. Moreover, we were told we were not allowed either to order some food via JustEat - the only option was to walk downstairs, look at a menu of a local restaurant which they have connections with (their own restaurant was also closed) and order there. No thanks. In addition, there was no music at all at the pool, which might appeal to some guests - we missed it a little.
The breakfast is okay. They offer a good selection of different cheeses, meats, a bread selection, fruits etc. Eggs can also be prepared to your liking which is very nice, and also here, the staff is excellent! If you want a coffee, ask specifically for a Nespresso though - they have Nespresso machines which are fine, but the coffee/espresso coming from the “normal” machine (which you get if you don’t specify what you want) is not the best - to put it mildly.
Finally, we were a bit surprised by the reservation policies. Catalonia claims they always offer the lowest rate on their site if you join their Rewards program. Being a member of this program also offers a free upgrade. I did join the program for this, only to find that Agoda (and several other OTA’s) offered the same room for EUR 150 less (6 night stay) than their “special rewards rate”. I sent an e-mail to the Catalonia reservation department and the hotel itself to ask if they could match the rate (which they should be able to considering the commission they pay any OTA).
The reservation department answered by saying “We have the lowest rate. If you book via Agoda we cannot fully guarantee your reservation. The lowest rate is <the rewards rate>”. This was, as I explained them, 150 euros more expensive than the Agoda rate. The front desk also answered with a very kind e-mail, saying they unfortunately could not make bookings themselves, and in this case recommended us to book via Agoda. We’ve done so, and I mentioned my Rewards number in the booking. Of course none of the perks was offered upon arrival - we could upgrade to a better room for 50 euros a night extra. We gladly declined.
All in all, the stay was certainly not bad, but we won’t be returning. We have stayed in many hotels in Ibiza, and there are plenty of other options with a better breakfast, good F&B options also during the day, and a more Ibiza “chill” vibe. However, if you want a more traditional Spanish hotel, extremely quiet, with large rooms and with decent facilities (and if you don’t have a car!), you can’t go wrong with the Royal Ses Savines.
My review will be short as it is quite similar to others you have already seen: Positives: Room size = big Nespresso in room Good amenities (shampoo/conditioner etc/) Very efficient and friendly staff View from room and pools is picture perfect. Breakfast food quality very high Good cocktails Negatives: The room rate is very high - try to stay in June or September when the prices are more reasonable
Very short and nice walk to marina area and downtown for dinner and bars. Enjoy your stay
My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights in September 2019 prior to staying in a villa. We joined the chains loyalty club when booking and were upgraded to the best room in the hotel on arrival! Breakfast is served in the adjacent building, this was fine apart from the raging storm which flooded the hotel and it's grounds!! We loved the place so much we're back there for a chill out at the start of Sept this year after a villa stay.
