I discussed all matters I'm about to write about with the Customer Services representative who offered me an apology, a room upgrade, a free meal, a lounge bed on the rooftop terrace but I didn't want or need any of those things. It was a bit late by then and the more I think about the experience, the more it worries me.
I arrived at about 9.30pm on a Thursday night. I was staying in a room by myself with family and friends also staying at the same hotel...
I had already checked-in online as requested via an automated email from the hotel but this seemed not to make a difference to the check-in process when I arrived. It took a while, but I was given a key card.
I went up to the room and entered the key card, walked in and realised that the room was already occupied.
I quickly exited, went back to reception and explained they had given me a room that was occupied. At the time, I got no apology, just huffing and puffing. Unacceptable. Eventually, i got given a new key card for a room that wasn't occupied by anyone else.
I was embarrassed. It also made me feel very, very unsafe. If i could walk into someone else's room, would someone be walking into mine?
The customer services representative was apologetic but only contacted me because I emailed the main Melia brand 'quality' email address on Friday. She didn't contact me until Monday. I was leaving on Tuesday. I asked for a free late checkout which would be beneficial to me which I was given.
There were other issues; lack of water in the room (you can't drink the tap water), no pressing service as detailed on the website (we were attending a wedding), bad wifi (tricky when filling out Covid-forms for travel) but overall I was disappointed by the service from the staff - all of whom seemed demotivated, miserable and as if guests were more of an annoyance than anything else.
This is not what I would have expected from a Melia, and particularly at the price we paid.
It's a beautiful hotel in a beautiful location so a real, real shame that they have got so many things so wrong.
Just returned from a wonderful stay at Sol Beach House, given the time of season it was fairly quiet which made our stay even more relaxing.
We booked a Beach House Xtra room in the newer block of the hotel and it was gorgeous! Top floor with amazing views and sunrise. Spacious and loved that the bed faced out to our sea view...
Semi open plan bathroom, ideal for couples (or friends who are comfortable with an open shower!). Spotlessly cleaned every day, the cleaners work their socks off, huge credit to them, we would return from breakfast to find the room ready again.. amazing! Rituals toiletries and white robes provided (not the Desiguel ones that were mentioned on the site but totally ok). A few things due to COVID not provided like the Bluetooth speaker (but was provided when asked at reception), paper cups instead of usual coffee cups etc, I’m we could have got anything if we asked.
Breakfast is outrageously good! Something for everyone, dairy free options, huge range, we were totally spoiled! Loved the fresh Ensaimadas!
The staff were so so friendly throughout, on reception, the restaurant, cleaners and huge thanks to the rooftop bar staff for making our stay special and keeping the amazing cocktails flowing! Plus the breakfast staff who work tirelessly to keep the tables clear and ready for the large number of guests. Poor guys having to wear masks throughout the day but all for the best interest of the guests and their own safety. Was really appreciated from us!
Location is not the area for parties in Ibiza if that’s what you’re after instead Santa Eulària is a perfect base for decent beaches, good restaurants and just switching off - Ibiza town is only half hour in a taxi (€30 each way). Niu Blau is the closest beach walkable along the coast about 10mins.
Would definitely return to Sol Beach House without a doubt!
As expected a relaxing break in a good location looking out on the Mediterranean Sea. Sol Beach Hotel never fails to impress with friendly staff and good facilities. Excellent food and good service...
Can’t wait to return.
Had a great stay at this hotel the rooms were spotless a credit to the housekeeping staff who work very hard and are always very friendly . We came back to the room on the afternoon of my partners birthday to find a bottle of carva and a pot of chocolate’s very nice touch thank you. There is so much I could say good about this hotel and the staff but overall I would like to say a big thank you for making my partners 60th such a special one she was blown away . We will look forward to seeing you soon.
We stayed at the Sol beach house from 9th to 16th October 2021. We had booked a relax suite and our room was stunning. There was a modern, open plan bathroom, walk in wardrobe, separate toilet and huge bedroom facing the sea with the most amazing sunrise every morning...
Bluetooth speaker and Nespresso coffee machine and blackout blinds that kept the room dark.
We stayed half board and sort of wish we had just booked bed and breakfast. Breakfast was amazing. Everything you could possibly want with many hot options cooked fresh for you. Evening meal was a choice of about 4 main courses that you order from the QR menu. Help yourself to starters, salads and desserts. The quality of the food was good but repetitive and I struggled to get a steak cooked to my liking, sending it back twice then giving up and having chicken. We also enjoyed going out to eat at various restaurants in ‘restaurant row’ in Santa Eulalia.
The hotel is spotlessly clean. All public bathrooms were immaculate. Temperature checks on check in, hand gel everywhere and they are meticulous in ensuring guests wear their masks in inside areas.
The hotel is set on a cliff top. There is a large supermarket 5 mins walk away and it takes about 10 mins to stroll into Santa Eulalia where there is a good choice of restaurants, shops and bars as was as a sandy beach.
The hotel was quiet while we were there as near the end of the season. Never had an issue getting a sun lounger, lots of choice to choose from around the 3 swimming pools. Pools were icy cold and the daytime entertainment was watching people enter the pool. The only entertainment provided was musicians sometimes at breakfast or after dinner. The hotel has a resident cat called Be Be who likes to stroll around and snuggle up on the sofas.
We don’t tend to return to hotels as we like to try new places but overall our holiday was very enjoyable and relaxing and Sol beach house provided the perfect opportunity to chill. We received complimentary Sangria as a welcome gift and some Prosecco and chocolates on my birthday. Thank you Sol beach house.
