Lovely hotel with terrible air conditioning and the worst entertainment!

Review by 1234emma Durham, United Kingdom

Hotel decor, furnishings and cleanliness all top notch, BUT we wouldn’t stay again. The Air Conditioning is centrally set, both rooms are like ovens. Entertainment depressing, no iron in room, at the quiet end of Lara beach...

The a la cartes are a scam, not as many as advertised, for example the sushi, teppanyaki and Chinese are all one, as is the Mexican and Tapas.

Stars were everyware but not five star.

Review by pubaddict1 Pontefract, United Kingdom

We visited Royal seginus recently and had a good holiday. The hotel is large and spacious, very clean and of good spec. The bedrooms are large and are cleaned regularly to a good standard...

The staff around the hotel work tirelessly are friendly and go out of there way to make your stay a positive one. The food in the restaurant is plentiful and of a reasonable standard. It was great to see no covid restrictions in the restaurant and you could serve yourself. The drinks were again of a good standard and most things were available. The pools and slides were clean and well maintained and the kids loved it. Animation team where were you, fourteen days and barely seen them. Evening entertainment was shockingly poor and a big let down has there is very little to do outside the hotel. Overall we had a good holiday but with a few changes it could have been a great one.

Candid and Truthful Review from someone who holidays 4 times a year

Review by MarkHellewell Birkenshaw, United Kingdom

So we as a family love the Antalya reigion of Turkey, and travel here 2 - 3 times pear year on average.

We stayed at Side in December over Christmas, and we are returning back to the Royal Seginus early June 2022 that was booked over a year ago, and we decided to squeeze an extra 2 weeks in April, so this was our first massively overly awaited first time to this resort.

We had stayed at Aska Lara which is across the road from Royal Seginus and we had heard great things about it.

So we arrived to the hotel and we were very impressed with the stunning quality of the reception / hotel lobby, as it is stunning...

We checked in very easily and one of the most impressive things about this hotel is the central lift shafts, as they make everywhere accessible in a matter of minutes.

So now to avoid rambling on I am going to include some Pro's, and then Con's and then what I would suggest you need to know when going etc...

Pro's

  • Amazing choice of foods, with the main restaurant having loads of choice daily and a huge selection of breads etc. Throughout the day there is always places to eat, weather it be at the main buffet, or the beach restaurant, or the snack stations offering Baked Potato's, Kebabs, Waffles, Ice Cream or Turkish Breads.

  • Great choice of Water Slides and kids water park and a very impressive fairground that is open from 4.15pm until 5.30pm, and then 7pm until 9pm (included in price)

  • Great kids club, with very helpful lovely staff that would often go out of their way to help you. Open 10am until 12pm and 2.30pm until 5pm, and then Kids Disco at 8.30pm until 9pm.

  • Pier is amazing and massive, and has a bar on it which is open 10am until 6pm.

  • Rooms are amazing, and have their own steam rooms for 2 people!!!!

  • 9th floor rooms are amazing and two story, however for the money if you are a larger family it would be better just getting two rooms.

  • Gym is amazing and open pretty much all day every day.

  • The majority of the staff that I encountered were great and I literally cannot fault them.

  • Great choice for families!!

Cons (as I said I will be very honest)

  • So our biggest issue was that the hotel was still in Winter mode when we got there, however advertised by TUI it was in Summer season. We arrived and the Pier was closed, the water slides were only partially open, and also the fairground was only partially open and only open for a hour a day. Whilst this was annoying we did speak with the Guest Relations ( Volko ) who is a really decent bloke and anyone visiting who has an issue should speak with him. Over the holiday things started to open up which was good and by the end of the holiday pretty much everything was open.

It is a shame that we missed the evening shows as they were due to start in May, however the animation did what they could with what they had.

The BIGGEST issue that we had by far though was the air conditioning in the room and this escalated into a big issue because the reception staff who dealt with this were purely incompetent. We were just told that most people like hot air from the air conditioning (in a country that is over 20 degrees C most evenings). When Guest Relations and the TUI Rep Cenah got involved it did get sorted, however it put a very negative feeling in us with it.

Our TUI Rep on site Cenah was very helpful to me on this holiday and is an asset to TUI.

We also had an issue with the same Reception staff member who will not be named in this review but he is a Manager, and we asked what time our check out was as we had booked a late check out with TUI, and rather than check it, he just barked uncomfortably that we must come at 10am and it was £10 a hour for late check out. We kept advising that he had it wrong and we would like it to be checked, and he was quite rude until a lady stepped in and checked, and advised our check out was 6pm. Rather than apologise he just argued with her. This is something that should be addressed. Maybe a language barrier, but this behaviour isn't acceptable in a hotel like this.

  • Pools were very cold throughout the resort including the indoor pool. I am sure that this will be different in June as it will be hotter but it would have been a little better if they would of heated maybe one pool or the kids area at least.

  • The hotel shops are very overpriced, so if you need anything, come out of the hotel and have a walk to the left as there are loads of shops.

  • Spa is more expensive than most of the hotels in the area with massage's being around £50-£70 for a hour compared to most of the recent hotels at around £35-£45 a hour.

If anyone is going ensure you insist on a room that has Summer Time Air Conditioning and not Air Conditioning that is set to Winter mode.

I am also quite a big tipper as I think that the little bit of money it costs you, it can really help the staff out, and trust me these guys and girls made the holiday amazing. I do think that even without tips they would have been like that also but id say 50 lira now and again goes along way. This is like £2.50 to us.

Anyway we are back in June, and we would love the hotel to consider what we have advised including the fact that the amenities weren't available to us as they were shut and hopefully they can offer us a nice room etc...

This is a great 5* hotel though, we just had a couple of small issues but the staff on a whole were amazing and helpful. I am sure we will book this at least once a year moving forward.

The worse experience we ever had

We arrived late afternoon. At reception two guys didn’t speak neither language apart Turkish, so other staff didn’t know other languages other. Apart from two ladies at guests relation, but their English was very poor...

They weren’t welcoming and looked exhausted. The hotel itself is very luxurious, but nothing else positive could be told. So, the staff of the hotel not interested to serve you, didn’t approach to offer anything either. If you ask for something, be prepared wait for ages or sometimes didn’t do what we were asking for. Rooms have been cleaned very bad. They just change towels & nothing else. Rooms just were full of dust, our white clothes were dirty, so we couldn’t wear them as cleaners don’t wipe the dust in the shelves. Food is awful. I don’t know how it could be eaten. Chicken dry & hard like a rock, meat the same. Most food didn’t look appetite, lots of fast food. The food & deserts are the same every single day. Slides have been working but not all of them. Be aware, that if your child under 12, adult must go with a child on a slide. Only a few slides where our child could go on his own. Entertainment is rubbish. At 8:30pm kids disco for 30 mins & at 9:30 for adults. Was either live music or bingo (you have to pay 5 euros to get a ticket). Was more fun for children rather for adults, children were running everywhere. Be aware that doctor office on flour -1 isn’t for free, the visit costs 125 euros. However, there are the shop and pharmacies just 2-3 km walking from hotel on the left. Only was pretty much edible - kebab (outside), some fruits & veggies. They cooked a few days the fish, that was full of bones - that could be very dangerous for children. Strawberries & grapes looked terrible. The desserts are just different shapes, but all are the same - chocolate mousse or panacotta. Eggs weren’t hard boiled, as inside egg yolk was runny. Every evening there was a mirror cake, that quickly have been distorted by others guests. If you like the suchi, bring your own soya sauce. The fish wasn’t fresh in the suchi either, salmon wasn’t peach, but grey color. Most food are cooked in lots of oil or chilli. Food incredibly tasteless. Unfortunately, we chose this hotel as liked the photos, but it’s not what you get. All the staff were walking with miserable faces or paying attention to people who spoke Turkish. Fairy ground some days didn’t work, or worked by closing down earlier. You have to walk around 10 mins to the beach. All juices were made from concentrate. We expected way more from this place. Lots of guests were disappointed with their entertainment, so after mini disco we only could go back to the room. The food & entertainment must be improved, so their staff. I was happy to be back home.

Amazing experience

Review by sojbaba1 Widnes, United Kingdom

This holiday was a last-minute holiday but was a fantastic holiday. The hotel, well what can I say, it was absolutely fantastic and can't fault it at all. We went all-inclusive, best decision ever, the staffs were top notch and very great, friendly and always on point with a smile on their face. The room was very good and they provided us with a court bed for our 5-month-old baby. very clean room and loads of space in the room. The hotel is well equipped. Lastly, the food, wow I can't even fault it with the amount of delicious varieties that were available and also had chef available to make almost anything you want fresh. We are even planning on going back there again next year with the rest of our whole family we we are all looking forward to.
