The boutique Pigeon Island Beach Resort is located on a secluded beach in Nilaveli, on the east coast of Sri Lanka. Named after its native colonies of blue rock pigeons the island is dotted with palm trees and beach coves. Nilaveli is known for its year-round sunshine, colourful coral reefs, warm blue-ocean and soft, white sandy beaches. Visited this week for a very enjoyable 3 days. Having the place to ourselves we benefitted from the friendly and very accommodating staff. We enjoyed very comfortable and clean air conditioned rooms with sea views...
The dining room was well serviced by the staff and the food was excellent with all choices well catered. The beach was kept neat and tidy and as wide as a 6 lane highway and a nice comfortable walk from our rooms. The resort also featured a large swimming pool, gym but sadly the Spa was closed due to current health reasons. Happily reccomend this resort and very likely to revisit.
Stayed here in early Nov. the concierge, Lori was EXTREMELY helpful, recommended some great shows & places to eat.. the room was GREAT, we appreciated the valet service, checkout was a breeze...
We will certainly return and tell all our friends to stay @ this location.
Nice hotel with direct access to the Nilaveli Beach!
+Big, clean rooms +Good breakfast buffet +Nice view on the beach +Clean, big pool +Helpful hotel manager
-Unfriendly and warily employees at the reception (especially the elderly woman), they tried to trick us (be careful with the tuktuk prices they tell)
Spent two nights at this excellent resort and enjoyed it very much. The cleanliness was at 5 star standard and the food was freshly made and exceptional. The staff were very attentive and friendly, specialy Bobby who kept the pool and the beach to a very high cleanliness level. As this was off season the sea was rough but there is plenty of attractions to keep one occupied in Trincomalee which is nearby. I have no hesitation in recommending the resort
The staff were wonderful, all so helpful and eager to do all they could to make your stay perfect. There is little to do local to the hotel, you can walk along to a few shops. We had some wonderful trips with a local fisherman we met on the beach, snorkeling, dolphin watching - and yes we saw a whale and calf too! - and a lagoon trip...
The chefs here were top class and liked to come chat to see if you enjoyed their food - which we always did. Black and Brown the beach dogs are adorable!
