This morning, you'll explore the cradle of Western civilisation with a fascinating tour of Athens. Discover the rock of the Acropolis, crowned by the dramatic ruins of the Parthenon, an immortal symbol of Ancient Greece, get lost in the narrow lanes and alleyways of historic Plaka and experience the bazaar-like atmosphere of Monastiraki, home to monasteries and markets. In the afternoon, you'll have the option of exchanging city streets for sea air with a visit to Cape Sounio home to stunning, sheltered coves as well as the mesmerising Temple of Poseidon. Built in the 5th Century BC as a tribute to the Greek god of the sea, this picturesque ruin sits spectacularly on a cliff-top jutting out into the Aegean Sea and on a clear day you can see a whole host of Greek Islands from its evocative perch.
