Discovering the cradle of civilisation and over 5,000 years of history, this tour combines not only the ancient but the modern as well. As you visit the awe-inspiring Parthenon, the Corinth Canal and Olympia, the birthplace of the Olympic games - you will be enthralled by this country that has so influenced western culture even to this day.
Depart London on your scheduled flight to Athens, where you will be met by a local guide and transferred to your hotel for a welcome dinner.
This morning, you'll explore the cradle of Western civilisation with a fascinating tour of Athens. Discover the rock of the Acropolis, crowned by the dramatic ruins of the Parthenon, an immortal symbol of Ancient Greece, get lost in the narrow lanes and alleyways of historic Plaka and experience the bazaar-like atmosphere of Monastiraki, home to monasteries and markets. In the afternoon, you'll have the option of exchanging city streets for sea air with a visit to Cape Sounio home to stunning, sheltered coves as well as the mesmerising Temple of Poseidon. Built in the 5th Century BC as a tribute to the Greek god of the sea, this picturesque ruin sits spectacularly on a cliff-top jutting out into the Aegean Sea and on a clear day you can see a whole host of Greek Islands from its evocative perch.
Following breakfast, you will embark on a journey to the remarkable Olympia via the Corinth Canal, a vision of Greeks more than 2000 years to separate Peloponnese from mainland Greece, it was finally completed in the late 19th century. Moving on to the ancient site of Mycenae, admire one of the most important archaeological sites in Greece which dominated the eastern Mediterranean world from the 15th to 12th century B.C. Next you will visit the impressive site of Epidaurus where you can admire its principle monuments; the temple of Asklepios (god of medicine) with its ancient hospitals, the Tholos and the magnificent amphitheatre, considered one of the purest masterpieces of Greek architecture.
This morning you will visit the archaeological site of Olympia, the birthplace of the Olympic games which includes the sanctuary of Zeus and remains of all the original sports structures erected for the ancient games. The Atlis (sanctuary to the Gods) is an absolute must see and has one of the highest concentration of masterpieces from the ancient Greek World. The Olympic torch for the modern games is still lit here before continuing to Athens to be handed to the host country. Continue to the delightful temple of Epicurious Apollo, the best preserved ancient temple on UNESCO's heritage list and extensively studied due to its marvellous variety of characteristics.
Following breakfast, cross the Rio-Antirrio bridge, one of the world's longest multi-span cable bridges to commence your tour of the Pan-Hellenic ancient site of Delphi, famous in all its antiquity for being where the oracle of Apollo spoke. According to mythology, two eagles met in Delphi, sent by Zeus from the ends of the universe to find the navel and thereafter is was considered by ancients to be the centre of the world. Legend also has it that King Leonardis of Sparta visited the Oracle before leading 300 Spartans in the battle of the Spartans. On arrival into Delphi, you will transfer to your hotel for the evening.
This morning begins with a visit to the mountainous village of Arachova which nestles at the foot of Mt. Parnassos. The afternoon is spent at leisure for you to explore Delphi at your own pace or should you wish an optional excursion will be available to the UNESCO listed Hosios Loukas Monastery, the epitome of the Byzantine architecture built in the 11th century.
Following breakfast, you will depart for Athens where you will have time at leisure to enjoy Athens at your own pace. In the evening, enjoy a farewell dinner to conclude your memorable tour of Greece.
After breakfast, you'll be transferred to the airport for your return flight to London.
If booking more than 10 weeks before departure a deposit of £250pp will need to be paid at the time of booking with the full amount payable at 10 weeks prior to departure. The deposit applies to adults and children. If you are within 10 weeks of travel then the full balance of the holiday will be payable.

This tour is accessible to most people with an average level of fitness and normal mobility. It involves moderate days of walking on uneven paths and small hills, and getting on and off coaches and boats. This tour is not suitable for anyone with walking difficulties.
The minimum number of passengers on your tour will be 10 and the maximum number of passengers will be 35. If in the unlikely event your tour does not reach the minimum passenger numbers, then you may be asked to change to a different date. A full refund will be made available to you should this alternative not be suitable.
This is an escorted tour, meaning that you will have the services of an English speaking guide during each excursion ensuring that you have first-hand knowledge at all times.
The currency in Greece is the Euro. We recommend that you exchange your currency before you leave the UK.
You will need to take some extra money with you to cover any meals where these are not mentioned on your itinerary and personal purchases, such as souvenirs, drinks and snacks. Approximately (£500) per person should be sufficient for the duration of your tour. Please also bear in mind that there will be several shopping opportunities throughout your tour. Credit cards are accepted in nearly everywhere in Greece, except streets kiosks. Tipping is at your discretion, however we would recommend approximately: EUR 3-6 per person per day. Tips are accepted in the local currency; however it is asked that if you do not tip in the local currency that you only pay with notes, as coins cannot be exchanged. As normal practice you may be asked for your credit card details on check-in at the hotel in order to cover any extras incurred during your stay. If you do not have a credit card, you may be asked for a cash deposit. American Express, Diners Club, MasterCard and Visa are widely accepted in hotels.
