Washington DC

This morning enjoy a guided tour of the USA's capital city and seat of political power. The focal point of the world's largest democracy is, of course, the Capitol Building, with its iconic classical dome, home to the Senate and House of Representatives for over 200 years. At the opposite end of the National Mall is the impressive Lincoln Memorial, where the arresting statue of the seated Abraham Lincoln stares sternly down, his immortal Gettysburg Address inscribed for all to read. From these same steps, Martin Luther King delivered his legendary 'I Have A Dream' speech to over 250,000 civil rights supporters. The 3-hour tour will provide memorable views of other signature landmarks, including the impressive Washington Monument obelisk, the poignant Vietnam Memorial, and the most recognisable of them all, the White House. The afternoon is free to discover more of the capital at leisure. Guests often choose to visit some of the excellent museums and galleries clustered along the National Mall, such as the Air and Space Museum and the National Gallery of Art, amongst many others, most of which are free to enter.

  • Breakfast
Philadelphia via Lancaster County

Journey into the heart of Pennsylvania and the rural back roads of Lancaster County, home of the Amish community. Witness the simpler, centuries-old lifestyle of the 'Plain People', centred around family, farming, and faith. Discover the traditions, customs, and trappings of 'Dutch Country', where horse and buggy is still the mode of travel and working windmills dot the landscape. Reflect on this slower and more peaceful way of life as you travel on to Philadelphia and return to the 21st century. A fascinating tour of 'Philly' will encompass several famous landmarks which shaped American history. See Independence Hall, where the Declaration of Independence was signed, and the Liberty Bell, an iconic symbol of American freedom now located in the National Historical Park. Check into your hotel and enjoy an evening at leisure within the city.

  • Breakfast
New York City

After breakfast, it's time to head for New York City and a juicy bite of the Big Apple. Upon arrival enjoy a tour of 'The City that Never Sleeps', which will open your eyes to the countless iconic sights and landmarks New York has to offer. Feel the racing pulse of the city in kaleidoscopic Times Square, visit the legendary theatreland of Broadway and gaze at the iconic Empire State Building, once the tallest structure in the world. From the art deco beauty of the Chrysler Building to the glass and steel empires of Wall Street, the world's financial powerhouse, and Central Park's green haven, New York is a city of contrasts. An afternoon at leisure offers the chance to explore more of this enthralling city - perhaps a visit to the awe-inspiring Grand Central Station, or a trip to Liberty Island and the Statue of Liberty on the Staten Island Ferry. Get a taste of the bohemian life - and fantastic food - down in Greenwich Village. Alternatively, escape the hustle and bustle of the streets and return to the tranquil mid-city oasis of Central Park to relax.
