Experience mouth-watering food at one of the local hawker centres or splash out at one of many stylish shops and treat yourself to a Singapore Sling at the famous Raffles Hotel. However, Singapore is not all about shopping and eating. Minutes away from the centre you can find outdoor activities, a contemporary art scene as well as sparkling reservoirs and green forests - the 'Lion City' will not disappoint.

Day 1: UK to Yangon

Depart London on your scheduled overnight flight to Yangon.

    Day 2: Yangon

Upon arrival in Yangon, transfer to your hotel before exploring the most recent former capital city of Burma. Known as Rangoon until 2005, a strong British presence can still be felt amongst the grandiose mansions and colonial buildings which make Yangon such a fascinating city to visit. With gold being a true symbol of greatness it is no wonder that the glittering golden stupa of the Shwedagon Pagoda rises over one hundred metres in height above the ground.

    • Dinner

    Day 3: Yangon to Bagan

An early morning transfer will take you to the airport for a short flight to Bagan. Start the day at the busy Nyaung Oo market where the locals gather to sell fresh produce, clothing and handicrafts. The nearby Shwezigon Pagoda dates back to 1090 and is one of the oldest and most impressive monuments in the region thanks to its immense golden dome that shimmers in the sun. Continue on to the Wetkyi-in Gubyakgyi-a cave temple famous for its frescoes and rare ancient paintings from the Bagan period. Following lunch, your group will visit the Ananda temple considered to be one of the best preserved masterpieces of Mon architecture before ascending the Shwesandaw Pagoda for a spectacular sunset view over the surrounding landscape.

    • Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

    Day 4: Bagan

This morning enjoy far reaching views from the banks of the Ayeyarwaddy River before driving to the largest temple in Bagan and on to Mount Popa, to visit a volcanic peak dedicated to the legendary 'Nat' spirits.

    Day 5: Bagan to Mandalay

Journeying to Burma's religious centre of Buddhism, you will visit Mandalay Palace, the residence of the last Burmese monarchy. Continue on to the spectacular Buddha image at the 18th century Mahamuni Pagoda and then ascend Mandalay Hill for panoramic vistas of the city.

    • Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

    Day 6: Mandalay

Today, visit the town of Pyin Oo Lwin; founded by the British in 1896, it soon became the summer capital where many colonial half-timbered buildings still remain. Enjoy some time wandering around the beautiful Botanical Gardens before heading back into Mandalay and retiring to your hotel.

    • Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

    Day 7: Mandalay

A stop in Amarapura reveals the famous U-Bein bridge, the oldest and longest teakwood bridge in the world before returning to Mandalay for a boat ride to Ava where a horse and cart will take you to the beautiful Bargayar Monastery. Day 8: Mandalay to Inle Lake

Following your morning flight from Mandalay to Heho, you will be driven to the banks of Inle Lake where a boat will be waiting to transport you to your hotel. Located in the heart of the Shan Plateau, the stunning lake is home to the indigenous Intha people who are renowned for their unique technique of 'leg rowing' the traditional boats. Discover the Phaungdaw Oo Pagoda, the most respected on the lake and visit Paw Khon village to observe the locals silk weaving and creating their handicrafts. Return to your hotel for dinner and an evening at leisure.

    Day 9: Inle Lake

Today's tour will take you to the Indein villages on the mainland. Along the way there is the chance to see the fascinating floating gardens where indigenous people grow local produce in the lake that sits at 2900ft above sea level. Explore the stilted houses of teak and bamboo that line the banks and hundreds of pagodas dating back to the 17th century before experiencing lunch in a local village restaurant. On the way back to the hotel a stop will be made at a silver workshop to see how this family business hand crafts beautiful jewellery and other products from silver ore.

On your final evening in beautiful Burma you will visit the Chaukhtathgyi Pagoda and its colossal reclining Buddha and then the opportunity to do any last minute shopping at the 70-year old Bogyoke Aung San Market. Designed in British colonial times, it is still often referred to by its old name, Scott Market.
