One of Sliema's foremost attractions is its elegant promenade, so it should come as no surprise that the Diplomat Hotel, set on the promenade, and overlooking the sea, is one of Sliema's foremost hotels.
Sliema's many shops, bars and restaurants are all close at hand and there's a real feeling of being at the heart of things when you're staying at the Diplomat Hotel. The Sliema casino is a stroll away, as is the IMAX cinema and Super Bowl. Truly, this is the place to be for a best of both worlds holiday – exciting entertainment and exhilarating views – you can have them both.
You might be forgiven for thinking that the Diplomat Hotel trades purely on its enviable location; not a bit of it. It's just as well regarded for its amenities and for its four star standards. This isn't just a place to stay, but a welcoming and comfortable home for however long you're lucky enough to stay.
The air-conditioned twin rooms are all tastefully furnished and arranged and all come with a small side sea view balcony. Each has an en suite bathroom and, wonderfully, an orthopaedic mattress. So you can see, your comfort is very high on the list of priorities!
You can pay a supplement for a sea view room with a French style balcony – it really is worth it. But even if you don't, each and every room will feel like home. Your amenities include satellite TV, direct dial phone mini bar and drinks making facilities. And don't forget, the excellent hotel staff are on hand to ensure you're well looked after.
Even with all of the attractions and entertainments of Sliema to enjoy, the Diplomat Hotel gives you more. You'll love the rooftop pool and the hotel bathing area – a magnet for sun-seekers and swimmers, and you'll even have free access to a nearby seafront lido with watersports and scuba diving on offer.
Getting to know Sliema can become a bit of a passion. With so much to see and do, and such a wonderful hotel to see and do it all from, you'll be perfectly set up to make the most of your Maltese holiday.

Good hotel which catered well and was comfortable.
Well done Mercury, see you next year.
This is my forth stay at this hotel and I found it just as good as previous times and I would stay again, it is in a good spot with bus stops nearby.
The hotel is well located and the staff were friendly and helpful. I would strongly recommend paying the extra and booking a sea view room.
Hotel in excellent position with beautiful views. The staff were efficient, welcoming, and very friendly.
Good hotel, the room with full font sea view was great. Although on a busy main road we did not find the traffic a problem as we were on the 6th floor. Very clean with good room service and the staff were friendly and helpful. We did not use a lot of the facilities but the pool, bar and entertainment were adequate. We would go back to this hotel.
The staff were very helpful and friendly
This is a great hotel, staff are always very helpful and will always go the extra mile for you.
I always say treat them as you would
Like to be treated and you will have a great service
Staff were very friendly and efficient, especially in the restaurant
Staff were very welcoming and most obliging. Great value for money.
The hotel was first class. We will certainly visit next year, using Mercury obviously!
Pleasantly surprised by the overall professionalism of your company.
Very good service from booking throughout the holiday.
A lovely, well organised holiday. We would travel with you again. The hotel was friendly with helpful staff and the airline were excellent.
A very well organised holiday, very many thanks to all concerned. Extremely helpful and friendly staff, special thanks to Evelyn in the restaurant, chef Ian and the two superstars of the Lobby Bar, Karl and Louis. I hope to return in the near future.
Overall the hotel very good and the staff were excellent. We would definitely stay there again.
Generally very pleasant
I was booked to stay at Hotel Imperial. However, when I arrived at the airport, the rep told me I would be staying at Diplomat Hotel instead. This worked out very well for me-it was a lovely hotel on the seafront, the food was excellent and the staff were all very kind and friendly.
Pleasantly surprised not only by the hotel but how helpful & friendly the staff were both on the reception desk and in the restaurant so much so I hope to be able to return again next winter God willing..
I had a very Pleasant stay, the room was nice and big , very clean, serviced every day, the staff were all very friendly and helpful, Evelyn in the restaurant was a extremely helpful lady, Louis in the lobby bar was also very helpful, in fact I could not find fault with anyone at the hotel, I have worked in hotels for about 20 years and I was very happy with this one, I will be going back there again.
Friendly, family-run type hotel. Dining staff were particularly welcoming. No hidden costs. Gym and computer access good. Very conveniently placed in Sliema for access across the island.
Would have liked a wider balcony but loved the direct seaview from our room.
Brighter lighting in the room for reading we would prefer and some/one easy chairs/ sofa.
More fresh fruit would have been appreciated
We found the hotel to be clean pleasant, and friendly . Food excellent , and we would give special praise to the chef called Ian .who was highly thought of by all the guests. The very busy waitress called Evelyn was an inspiration and never stopped making sure all us guests were happy. All round a very pleasant hotel to stay in for a holiday, we will definitely use this hotel again when we return to malta.
Staff were friendly and helpful - a good atmosphere!
