I feel a little bit guilty to bring up anything negative to say about this hotel but there are some areas which could be improved. The room was lovely; always cleaned to a high standard and if there was anything we needed the staff was very quick to respond and sort things out. The breakfast room is a semi open area with no air condition, which made it a bit balmy and sticky during the morning meal. Same with the reception area. There is a pub/restaurant and a Thai restaurant on the premises but no guests! This may be partly due to the corona virus effect (mid-March 2020) but the prices were quite steep...
Especially the pub could have been a nice gathering point for hotel guests, either after coming back from an evening meal or perhaps on evenings when you choose to stay 'home'. To get to the pool area you have to cross a busy road; which wasn't much of a problem as friendly staff helped you across by stopping the traffic (or rather stopping you from taking any risks). The pool is of a good size and allows for some exercise swimming, if you feel that way inclined. However, there are not enough parasols to match the number of beds. The wooden sun beds around the pool are decent but the cushions are old and manky and not cleaned at night time, just folded up. This should be done under any circumstances; but especially now (corona virus). Many of the plastic sun beds on the beach are broken and cracked and not cleaned down after the day's events (nor their mattresses). The food in the pool bar is reasonable for a midday snack and complementary fresh fruit and coffees are served once a day (this may vary depending on your booking, I guess). There was also, at times, a lingering smell of sewage around the pool, towards the beach, which may, or may not, be the fault of the hotel. In short, the pool area - which is a good spot with lovely views - could be made to be so much more. There is plenty of room, inside and outside, and with a bit planning and initiative the whole area could become much more vibrant and welcoming, for instance for evening events. The pool’s closing time is officially at 7 pm but staff started to clear up, sometimes as early as 5.30, almost making you feel as if you should leave.
We stayed in a Lamai Suite, which was a lovely, large, air-conditioned room but with just a Juliet balcony. The room was very clean and well equipped although the super king bed was rather hard. Clean towels, toiletries and tea and coffee were provided daily as were water and soft drinks. The breakfast was good although none of the common areas of the hotel were air-conditioned...
There are two eateries in the evening but they are not well frequented and no entertainment is provided. The lovely poolside restaurant closes at 7 on, which is a shame as this would be a popular venue for guests and non-residents alike. The pool area is beautiful but there were too few parasols. The sun beds on the private beach were in a terrible state of repair and were filthy as was the beach area in general. There was also a bad drain smell in the area. No water activities were provided such as paddle boarding, kayaking, jet ski, snorkelling, speed boat trips etc despite the location being ideal. For evening entertainment it was necessary to take a taxi into Lamai town, which was only a few km away, but too hot to walk; the road was also busy and quite dangerous to walk along. The taxis don’t use their meters and therefore overcharged for the short trip, which cost 200 baht each way. The staff were friendly but it was difficult to make oneself understood in English and it was difficult understanding responses in English.
Staff was welcoming and super helpful to us as it was our first time in Thailand, we were upgraded to a larger suite upon arrival and were accommodated Thai massages in our rooms. The pool facility was lovely and we thoroughly enjoyed the restaurants on site as well. Would definitely stay again.
Great room, super comfortable bed, lovely decor, very clean. Extremely helpful and kind staff, very efficient and friendly. Pool area is nice, and hammock on the beach is terrific. All in all a very enjoyable stay, extremely good value, and the staff could not have been better - thoroughly recommend.
On arrival I was greeted by smiling welcoming faces, checkin was slick and effortless. Walked to the room and shown my delightful colonial style room. I was pool facing with a balcony...
The room was clean, spacious and had everything one would need.
The location is just far enough from the busy central town area that you can walk along the beach to the central area.
There are two pools - one within the the hotel and the other just across the road on the beach. There is a person to stop the traffic and for your to get across safely and once you are there the people will look after you.
There are a couple of restaurants on site - The greedy pig - nice friendly and the Pad Thai.
I stayed for 8 nights and felt safe and welcomed.
