Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
Room was very comfortable and spacious, had everything we needed. It was a garden view room. The staff was very accomodating, and nice, we were satisfied with the service. Everything was clean - from rooms, restaurant, common areas and gardens. The beach and pool areas are really great, the beach is very spacious and nice, there is enough sunbeds for everyone even at full capacity. Beach is very quiet and relaxing. There is no music at the beach, and I really liked that, so I spent all my time there. I would recommend this hotel anytime, I plan on going back. Soma Bay is great, everything is connected - the shuttles are available to go anywhere. There are all sorts of ammenities available - from snorkeling, diving, etc.
During my stay at Soma Bay Sheraton, I appreciated the nice view and the room itself was comfortable. However, the service had several unacceptable problems.
First, I was the only guest there at the swim-up bar one time. I ordered a drink, and the waiter stepped onto the counter and placed the drink beside his feet, which felt extremely disrespectful. In contrast, throughout my stay, I don’t see any other guests served in this manner.
In addition, regarding the Italian restaurant, when we checked in, the receptionist told us that reservations were required at least one day in advance. She kindly offered to make the reservation for us at the time we requested. But when we arrived at the restaurant, they said that there was no reservation under our name and initially discouraged us from walking in, even though there were plenty, plenty of empty tables. Only after we suggested making a complaint did the staff check again, and then we were allowed to sit down.
Lastly, after the hotel offered to prepare breakfast boxes for our early departure, we were told at checkout that no such request was recorded.
These inconsistencies made the experience very frustrating. I hope the hotel can improve communication and ensure all guests are treated professionally and respectfully.

Lovely spacious room with plenty of cupboard space. Huge bed with comfy pillows. Balcony - small, as was on a corner. (A manager told us we could have asked to move rooms, but really wasn't that much of a problem.) Fridge and large kettle provided. Room kept very clean, thanks to our housekeeper. We were in room 1243.
We loved the beach with calm, warm sea. Short walk to jetty and ladder down to sea with 100s of colourful fish. Short walk across a bridge and across desert, down to the shore where you can access another part of the coral reef. I saw an octopus and my partner saw an eagle ray, as well as loads of different species. This hotel is great for divers and snorklers.
We liked the food, especially the Thai, Indian and Malaysian. We ate a lot of ice cream and fruit. The desserts looked beautiful but were often a bit dry. They did their best to keep birds off food. Even have a 'bird control' man! Lovely servers. Only tiny complaint is that when we asked for ice we didn't always get it. Place kept so clean and beautiful! All staff, including cleaners and gardeners, had a smile and 'hello' for guests. Most staff seemed to speak several languages.
Little bit of hassle arranging late check out, as the system was down. But turned out alright in the end and we kept room later for free.
In summary, do not hesitate to book this hotel. Not a place for partying, but great for swimming, relaxation and good sleep. Can't stop thinking and talking about it.
This is our third time visiting Sheraton Soma Bay and we still love this resort. By now, the reconstruction work is completely finished, all amenities are fully operational.
All rooms have been renovated, new furniture is very nice and comfortable. Bed is very comfortable, A/C works great (free of charge) and Wifi is also pretty fast. Usage of minibar is free of charge now, only thing is that it is filled in once a day, upon request. Room is cleaned and towels are changed daily. Shower gel, shampoo, hair conditioner, body lotion and hand soap are also provided, as well as a hair dryer. Wardrobe is very big, and there is a small safe also (which is too small to store a laptop, but no issues, nobody would even touch any such thing).
Pool area has also been renovated, it's even better than before. More loungers and parasols are around the pool, and there are new wooden "cages" built which are perfect for two people, provide shade for the whole day and even small pillows are available. Beach towels are available around the pool and the beach (you get towel cards when you check in, this needs to be handed over to the staff in order to get the towels).
Main restaurant (Bistro24) is also renovated, looks wonderful, and food is simply amazing, with wide variety for each meal (even salmon and sushi are available each day). Chef Warren is super kind and friendly with all guests. Waleed was our waiter most of the time, he is also extremely kind and helpful, he always has some nice words to the guests. He remembered us from our latest visit last year.
Pool bar opens at 9AM now. New thing is that they have authentic Turkish coffee as well, besides the usual soft drinks, spirits, cocktail, water, beer, coffee, etc. Khaled and Rehab were taking care of us each day, they were also very kind.
Around the pool, some life guards are always there, Ehab was the kindest of all.
The main bar (&More) is also fully renovated, it is now a very cozy place, both inside and outside on the terrace. Wardany is working here now (he was working in the pool bar last year), and he immediately remembered us when we entered the bar on our first day.
Right now the Sea View restaurant (which was the place for lunch in the past years) is still under renovation, so it was not available, but as we heard from Chef Warren, it's going to be operational again in couple of months, once the furniture arrives.
There is a new Italian a la carte restaurant where you can have dinner with reservation made at the reception. We tries it once, and all the food we chose was fantastic.
Cleanliness is perfect everywhere in the resort.
All in all, Sheraton Soma Bay is still a wonderful place to stay, we will keep returning every year for sure!
