Food: 9,5/10 Main buffet has great variety and quality. Seafood night + live pasta station are winners. Desserts are better than most hotels in Sharm. Face painting, treasure hunts, cookie decorating. Open 10-1 & 3-5. Mini disco nightly at 8:30 PM. Ages 4-12. Parents get real break time. Sport Animation: Water polo, beach volleyball, darts, yoga, aqua gym every day. Team is energetic but zero pressure. They join you if you want, leave you alone if you don’t.
Verdict: Great food, insane kids club, and animation team that keeps everyone busy. Tired kids + happy adults = perfect vacation.
Our stay at SUNRISE Montemare Resort was absolutely amazing. The resort is beautiful, the rooms are spotless, the food is delicious, and every member of the staff made us feel welcome. However, the real highlight of our vacation was Mr. Haytham, the Restaurant Manager. His professionalism, kindness, and genuine care for every guest are truly exceptional. From the moment we entered the restaurant, he greeted us with a warm smile, made sure everything was perfect, and always took the time to check that we were happy and comfortable. Mr. Haytham has an incredible ability to make every guest feel special. His attention to detail, outstanding leadership, and dedication to providing the highest level of service made every meal a wonderful experience. He is a true asset to the hotel and deserves the highest recognition for his hard work and commitment. Thank you, Mr. Haytham, for making our holiday so memorable. We will definitely return to SUNRISE Montemare Resort, and one of the main reasons will be the exceptional hospitality we received from you.
Highly recommended!
This hotel from the outside looked incredible. We arrived late on a TUI flight, got a private transfer to the hotel. We were welcomed with a strawberry juice drink and a cold towel, it was 34 degrees at 11:30pm! Checkin was good, staff were so friendly and loved their 'welcome home' mantra. We got taken to our room on a golf buggy which was a swim up pool room. Air con was brilliant and a god send. We unpacked and got into a very comfy big bed. 1st night was great as we were so tired. The next morning we went to breakfast starving and this is where my red flags started. Breakfast times are advertised but honestly if you arrive after 9 there will be nothing worth eating left! My scrambled was separated bouncy and cold, the 'toast' was cold and took 3 goes in the toast machine to turn beige, the bacon was cold. If you want coffee you'll queue for ages while your food gets even colder made by 2 slow coffee machines. Bread display is impressive and bread selection good. Butter is not offered often usually margarine and not near the bread.. it's by the salad dressings usually in ice which did make some sense but more could be offered in ice by the bread. Would make more sense for filtered coffee and tea to be served by waiting staff and would reduce main restaurant traffic it was complete chaos!! The hotel is obviously on offer in Europe as I heard no English spoken.
The pools are lovely, well looked after and if you tip a towel guy he'll help bring you drinks all day and also reserve you the best poolside beds. Many were booked up by 7am. We stayed by our pool room sunbeds avoiding the main pool as it was noisy which was what we were avoiding.
The Island bar poolside serves sandwiches, pizza, burgers, drinks but did get busy. Quality but great again but pizzas are freshly cooked. Staff were great here and again if tipped looked after you well. There are regular shuttle buses from bus stops around the hotel that take you to the main restaurant and reception. From the beachfront to reception there about 150+ slippery steep marble steps. So if your mobility isn't good just wait for a bus.
The jetty on the beach is beautiful and snorkeling off it very popular. You can hire equipment for 2 of us for masks & flippers was £18. You'll also be sold speed boat trips and diving lessons.
Beach has sunbeds and beach shelters and does get busy. There's nice shallow bit of seaside water great for kids to paddle in. You can go to adult only areas for a bit more quiet. Some even have safes that you could lock stuff up in.
On arrival you're told you can book into the a la carte restaurants and Felucca the seafood restaurant which you pay extra for. We paid about $96 for dinner here, setting was lovely, Ramadan our waiter super polite and attentive. The food for what we paid was not great tbh. Tasted as though it was all frozen or overcooked not fresh fish, I wouldn't recommend the extra expense. But the setting was lovely.
The restaurant booking system in the main reception area is ridiculous, we queued for ages and had to keep re-entering all our details constantly. We did book Basilico Italian for a dinner. Sadly this experience was also marred. I'm not trying to be a winjing pom but the food here was not great. The service even worse, we had a very rude waiter who we did mention to the manager and got an apology for. We got offered only 1 drink throughout the meal, a frozen panna cotta which was vile for desert. I would also not recommend this restaurant a la carte is isn't!!
The evening meals at the main restaurant have themes each evening. But again the quality of food for what was sold to us as a 5* hotel was terrible. All inclusive buffets aren't usually great but I really struggled to find much to eat that I enjoyed. I lived off bread and tasteless cheeses and often didn't even bother going to eat at all. The deserts look good but all taste the same and many were still frozen. Again if you don't get there early you'll be lucky to get much at all that's edible. This hotel really should review the food quality on offer under it's 5* umbrella. For food I'd struggle to give it 2*.
I also got ill on my 3rd day of my 10 day stay with 'Pharoah's Revenge' as it's so called. I will blame the food. My husband got sick on day 5. We were vigilant with the water, only using bottled water for teeth brushing, obsessive hand sanitising, no ice in drinks and we were very ill. The pharmacy opposite the hotel was very handy!! I'm home and still sick losing 6lbs in weight.
If you have allergies of any kind you will struggle here. I witnessed people using forks they'd got prawns/fish with then move and grab cheese with. There were no labels that were easy to work out. Nuts were everywhere and on most things so deserts could cause an issue for nut allergies. Fruit displays are good and people are obviously taking whole bunches of grapes and ffrui back to their rooms. It's not challenged at all by the staff.
You don't get served drinks you have to go join a queue outside in the heat to get draught beer or any wine always served to you in hot glasses that have just come out the dishwasher. Soft drinks are poured out from larger bottles and very small in size. Would be better to have self serve drink dispensers especially for kids. There were a pain when this been waiting patiently to get a drink while your dinner was going cold inside.
The 'ice cream' machine served watery weird flavours that melted on impact in the pot. Very disappointed in this as it's a quick win pudding for kids. A lot of deserts were set puddings but set with who knows what. No labels to advise vegans if it was gelatin or not.
We did see some people get served wine in the smallest wine glasses I've ever seen but think that only applies if you flash your cash at a waiter.
Our room housekeeper Salah was wonderful. He cleaned everyday, gave us extra of items when we needed it. Like much needed extra toilet paper and bottled water when we were both sick. The pools are cleaned daily. We had a small fridge in the room but it didn't get very cold so drinks were cool rather than cold. A bigger fridge would be better so you could keep any fruit, chocolate or drinks purchased on excursions from melting.
The hotel grounds are beautiful and well cared for. The plants are sprayed often so we had no mosquito bites at all.
Coffee in reception is very nice and the staff very friendly here. Cocktails are ok but often served in small glasses.
We did 2 boat trips, highly recommend the VIP Tiran Island for snorkeling but you will have to pay to hire equipment.
You can take taxis direct from the hotel to Farsha café which was hot but fun and STEEP with many stairs. Soho Square also worth a visit for some good food and shops selling silver, gold, perfumes and a lot of fake stuff. But good vibes here.
My advice for staying here is be careful with your food choices, enjoy the grounds, tip tip tip to get the service the hotel sells you but you'll only get if you look after the staff. Don't use the shop at the hotel, we paid £15 for a tube of Pringles and some biscuits for our room and the shopkeeper then had the cheek to ask for an extra tip because he gave us 2 packs of cheap chewing gums!!
The hotel white party on the beach is cool. Foam party looked great on Mondays but not for me. The entertainment team work really hard in such heat to give you a good time.
There is an option to upgrade to The Posh Club which seems more private and hopefully better food but we weren't offered this and no idea how you'd get it. But looks like you get access to a quiter pool, rooms and restaurant. But possibly worth it if you're thinking of coming to this hotel and want to avoid some of the mayhem.
We paid in excess of £3.6k for our 10 day stay through TUI as a couple all inclusive with a swim up pool room. We probably forked out another £1k in trips and tips and more tips so wasn't cheap. But sadly I'd not return to this hotel, the food quality and illness we had ruined it for us. But lovely location, areas need bringing up to standard to qualify if to be 5* in my opinion. I'd rate this hotel a 3* against other stays I've had.
What a hotel. We have stayed in nice hotels before but this is without doubt one of the best. My wife and I agreed we could not find anything to complain about. The staff were unbelievable especially around the oasis bar. There was nothing to much trouble for all the hotel staff. Food was great bars and restaurants were lovely especially the Italian. The gardens were stunning they were working all the time to make sure the lawns and trees were immaculate. Honestly if you want a fantastic holiday just book this hotel. We will return.
