Parrotel Lagoon Resort Sharm El Sheikh

We returned today from 2 weeks at Parrotel Lagoon and we had a wonderful holiday! I absolutely promised an honest review to help those with concerns (like I did) before their holidays and hopefully share some tips.

We were a party of 10 across 4 rooms (another family joined us for the second week of our holiday too) on first impressions the hotel is very grand and not what we expecting- however, it soon became apparent that the whole place is extremely run down. I wouldn't say the hotel is dirty but more neglected. We had rooms in blocks 2, 5 & 6 around the main pool and one over in the newer blocks. That room was much nicer (not cleaner but more modern) the room on the ground floor was clean but needed fumigation for mosquitos (which was done quickly at 1am when reported to reception) and out of the other rooms one was ok, however, my room was extremely dirty. My husband cleaned the bathroom with things I had taken with me and I went to bed not feeling too hopeful, but things really did improve. I saw my cleaner the following morning and he asked how my room was, through translate and photos I explained I wasn't happy and that evening after we returned from the pool the room was spotless and smelt fresh. All the bedding was gleaming, fresh towels and water. We had towels, plenty of water and clean bedding from that moment through our whole stay. The rooms are huge! And the beds surprisingly comfortable, really big pillows and brand new mattresses. And to us just a base to store our belongings, sleep and get ready. For that, they were adequate. Noone else in my party had a problem.

We found the food selection to be small and repetitive but we always managed to eat. We only went once to the main restaurant and wow- cattle market! My 3 yr old was actually pushed to the floor in about 30 seconds so we left and only ate in the quieter English restaurant. The currys were really nice, salads and bbq at lunch, pizza oven, nuggets and fish goujons for kiddies. The bbq was super tasty and the food well spiced. We never had undercooked food and none of us were poorly. Breakfast was small but some boiled eggs, porridge, croissants did me until lunch.

Take refillable cups. The cups are tiny. And for me the drinks were the worse part of the all inc. Really poor selection, often warm. Local vodka, gin, rum & brandy. Mixers coke, sprite, tonic. Some days the vodka and coke and gin and tonic tasted ok, others they were horrendous and just tasted like chemicals. Hit and miss. Some bars you could get fanta and coke zero was a rarity too. Soft drinks were water, and 2 juices (one was orange and I think one pineapple) never tried these as they were illuminous. Beer was either bottle or draft. I preffered the draft for my shandy as it was actually cold. Wine was only served in restaurants, choice of red and white. I drink white at home and tbh this wasn't bad. I'd liken more to pinot. Again wasn't overly cold so needed an ice cube. I'd get a couple before I left the restaurant so I could take them with me. Coffee machine was fine. I found 2x latte and a shot of espresso was the best combo in my travel mug. Took our own sweetner. We mainly drank alcohol we took with us tbh. Many english families around the pools were doing this. Blokes were happy with the beers though. There was also an all inc cocktail menu, I tried a couple and just tasted like sugar and juice. Not actual cocktails.

The bar staff work tirelessly and will bring drinks to sunbeds etc. Infact every staff member we encountered here was just brilliant, helpful, polite and really kind to our children. Nader was the best bar man by far!

We sat around the smaller pool mainly and the 2 life guards (both Muhammeds!) Were lovely. Got our sunbeds each morning, played with the kids, helped my 3 yr old with her swimming, made us laugh. I can't fault these guys.

The water park on site is really good and the grounds of the hotel are immaculate, which is weird that they have let the rest run down like they have.

Poolside toilets are revolting... so avoid those! 🤮 but this can't be blamed soley on the hotel but on some grotty guests.

Wifi is poor across the hotel tbh.

I used the gym around 3 times in my stay and it was perfectly adequate for a hotel gym.

We visited the hotel beach, we didn't use the shuttle as it was mayhem but took a taxi. Lovely cabanas are available free of charge and you can use your all inclusive at the beach too.

We didn't find the small shop too badly priced for crisps, ice crems etc. And the little ice cream stand was only 1$ a scoop. We tipped in USD small notes. USD and GBP are accepted everywhere. And if you tip the staff they really look after you... REALLY! I know you shouldn't have to tip for service but we did and were looked after - don't hate the players hate the game 🤣🫠

We ordered Mac Ds one evening ordered from reception, had 2 nice meals at Arab Bucks, had 2 AMAZING nights at the Hard Rock 3 hr bottomless- really you have to do this it's a brilliant night out, a boat trip and quad/buggie safari both booked with Nabq Tours for excursions.

We were worried about this holiday, we were looking to change... but all in all for what we paid it is pretty much the all-inclusive experience we expected. The hotel isn't expensive, we paid less than £1,000pp for 2 weeks all inclusive bang in the middle of the school holidays. It was a budget trip and honestly we had a great time. We made it fun and made the most of what we could enjoy. The hotel wasn't the best but also not the worst. The pools are nice, the staff are lovely and the area is really nice too. It isn't expensive to eat out either.

We wouldn't return to the Parrotel Hotel Lagoon Resort but are glad we went and enjoyed our holiday ☀️🩷🐪🇪🇬

The hotel doesn't deserve more than a 3-star rating. It lacks untapped potential, has been unrenovated, the food is monotonous and subpar, and the reception is poor. They forgot to collect our luggage from under the room, even though we asked for it upon checkout. Compared to hotels like PickAlbatros, JAZ, and Rixos, it's a paltry 3-star, nothing more.
