We stayed at Jacaranda Indian Ocean Beach Resort as a family with two older teenagers, and it turned out to be the perfect mix for us of relaxation and activities. The hotel’s gardens are large, lush, and beautiful, and the beach is right there — quiet and not crowded. The Swahili-style buildings and the laid-back atmosphere make it easy to slide into slower pace. There is a nice pool area with plenty of sunbeds, a pool bar for refreshments, a free library, and complimentary tea and coffee served in the afternoons. Adding to the atmosphere were the cheeky monkeys living on the property.
The location is perfect. In Diani, most of life happens on the beach, so having a hotel right on the sand with its own private and long stretch made a huge difference. Just a short walk along the beach is the Kongo River mouth, where locals gather in the afternoons — we enjoyed strolling there, and it is also possible to try bodysurfing in the ocean or a ride in traditional boats on the river.
Our rooms were spacious and comfortable — a little worn in places, but with very good beds. Breakfast became a highlight with a generous spread of pastries, cereals, tropical fruit, juices, cheese, ham, hot and cold dishes, and eggs made to order. On some mornings, there was also a Swahili breakfast with local dishes. Evenings at Jacaranda were chill with daily cultural shows like acrobatics, African dance, and traditional Maasai performances — it was really both impressive, charming and fun.
And then, the staff, they were truly exceptional — genuinely warm, charming, inviting, polite and with a good sense of humor – they all made us feel truly welcome and their warmth and charm and attentiveness really made our stay.
An exceptional hotel and exceptional service We had a wonderful stay at Jacaranda Indian Ocean Beach Resort. The hotel is beautiful, the service is excellent, and the staff are incredibly attentive. But I would especially like to thank the manager who went above and beyond for us this morning. Due to an unexpected flight schedule change, I was at serious risk of missing my international flight from Nairobi. I explained the situation to him, and within just five minutes, he had taken the matter in hand and found a solution for us. He personally arranged a private transfer to Nairobi and made sure to find us an experienced and reliable driver who knew the road perfectly. He immediately understood the urgency of our situation and acted incredibly quickly and efficiently. Thanks to him, we had a real chance of making our flight. This is what exceptional hospitality looks like: listening, understanding and taking action when a guest really needs help. A huge thank you to the entire Jacaranda team, and especially to this gentleman for his kindness, professionalism and efficiency. We will remember this gesture for a long time. ❤️ Highly recommended! 🌴🇰🇪✈️
Thank you everything, we had a good memories.Food was okay, fruits the best, and staff too. Amani and the team was best entertainment ever🤗
Good things : Staff is very kind, beach is great, they have activity at night which is great fun.
Not that great : Food was very average, resort is very old so are rooms and bathrooms. Shower dont work properly. I wont recommend, many better options are available in this area. Also they dont allow even half an hour extra post checkout time of 10, so please keep that in mind.
Great environment, good food and entertainment. The beach was clean. The room was comfortable.
