Be live Experience Marrakech Palmeraie

From arriving to leaving on our short 3 night break, it’s been wonderful. The food is typical all inclusive, but cannot fault it at all, always something nice to eat, waiters were there promptly to clear plates and top up your wine at the table with the small touches of arm behind their backs. The drinks were acceptable, especially the wine, I would have liked to have seen a couple of more cocktails or a fizz on the menu. You never had an empty glass whilst sitting at the bar with the bar staff being so attentive and the touch of the olives and nuts were just perfect. Around the pool the loungers were comfortable and the snack/ pool bar again was excellent, Omar and Fatima do a fabulous job, thank you, always smiling. Our room was just perfect, very comfortable beds, clean and big bathroom, lovely bedding and towels were excellent quality and changed daily. Really missed a kettle in the room though and could have done with a small mirror on desk/vanity unit. A big thank you for animation team for doing an excellent job even has the music around the pool spot on, we will return

We visited here for 1 week early November and had a great time. I personally thought it was well worth the 4 star rating it has.

Checking in Check in took a long time however this was because there was a new staff member who was training. Whilst waiting someone brought us all over a mojito mocktail arrival drink. One of the other guests who arrived at the same time as us started shouting at reception when she was told they required tourist tax and a deposit to be paid. The tourist tax is implemented by the government and not the hotel and the deposit was returned at the end of the stay, plus we paid by card and it was only £30. We were also all told that our rooms wouldn’t be ready for another 1.5 hours (3pm) but that there was a place for us to change and we could use the facilities right away which we didn’t have a problem with but the same couple again shouted at the reception staff. The reception staff handled this very well and stayed calm, despite being shouted at for something out of their control.

Room We had booked a standard room but upon entering the room realised the hotel had upgraded our room which was a nice surprise. We were given a pool facing room that had a downstairs area and an upstairs area, 2 wardrobes, 2 bathrooms which one had a bath and one a shower so we were really happy with our room. It was very clean. Fresh towels were always provided and I couldn’t fault any of the facilities or cleanliness of the room. The only minor flaw was that towards the end of our stay we had a neighbour join the next room who would bang up and down the stairs ALL night and this kept waking us up. The maids were very polite and always said hello. One day we had booked to go ok the hotel shuttle for the evening to Marrakech and so went to the pool in the morning then wanted to come back and shower so kept the do not disturb sign on our door. We left at 4pm and when we came back it had still been cleaned despite it only being accessible late in the day which was great.

Food There was a buffet which served breakfast, lunch and evening meal. Then there was a pool bar which had a snack bar and everything was fresh to order. Some lunch times they did a bbq outside and every day they would put out a little buffet by the pool of pastries, crepes, fruit and drinks. The pool bar food was really nice. The buffet food was fine, however much better if you went at the start of service where everything was put out fresh. Always plenty of options and we didn’t get ill even with eating salad and meats. We used the A La carte resteraunt and that was nice too. We didn’t like the starters and was served cold soup, but the mains of beef and tagine were delicious. There was plenty of drinks available, even mocktails.

Entertainment There was entertainment all day and every night. In the day they did archery, football, kids club, aqua aerobics and more. At night they did karaoke, quiz night, a belly dancing show. Entertainment was always good and the staff were working every night we were there so clearly work hard.

Other Facilities of the hotel were great. The pool area was clean and spacious. There was a kids pool with slides. There was a gym my partner used and he said it was good. The hotel offers a free shuttle bus to the medina you just have to book a day before. We did a day trip and also an evening trip. Drops you right by the main square. Inside the hotel there is a cash machine and a shop which sells clothes, jewellery, typical Moroccan goods and snacks. There was an issue with flies but that isn’t the hotel that’s part of marrakech. Another issue we kept on encountering was that our room key kept failing and every 2 days we’d have to go to reception to get it reactivated. We didn’t have an issue with sunbeds on weekdays but on weekends it seems the hotel gets very busy for people visiting as a weekend break and so those days sunbeds were hard to get, even out of season in November.

Overall I had a great time and would stay at this hotel again if I was to visit Marrakech.
