Fati is the best and reda is the best
We arrived in July 2026 for our 10 day holiday. Arrival was easy, and the hotel staff were very helpful in getting our bags to our room.
Our room was tidy, but cleanliness wasn’t the best. Stains on the curtains, the grout in bathroom and ants everywhere. I mentioned it to the front desk and was greeted with an “Ok” After spending more time, they’re everywhere. So it seems like a normal thing.
So if you’re planning to stay, keep food off sides and in the fridge.
There are stray cats everywhere and if you’re a cat person, it’s a dream. Unfortunately I am not, and wasn’t too happy when the cats kept trying to sneak into our room.
The entertainment staff are very friendly and the kids loved joining in with kids club. They were too pleased with the kids water volleyball as other kids kept fighting. Which granted isn’t their problem, but something could have been said.
The food was like a usual all inclusive. The toasties at lunch time were a nice touch.
Overall it was a nice stay, I don’t think I’d rush back but that’s just a personal preference.
What a great stay we had at this hotel. We are a family of 4 ( 2 children, aged 12 and 17), travelling with my parents, so 6 of us in total. We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. I feel some of the reviews on here are a little harsh, hence writing this review. At no point did we have to fight for sunbeds. We could easily get 6 sunbeds even at 10am around the edge of the pool. The pool staff were brilliant, they would happily move parasols and sunbeds so you didn't have to. They were very attentive, polite and friendly. All pools were clean woth life guards present, The main pool was warm and pleasurable to be in, not overcrowded (not cold like other reviews have mentioned). We didnt have to queue up en entry to restaurants. We never struggled as a group of 6 to eat together. Staff were very attentive and set up a table if required. Sometimes food wasn't replenished quick enough for the number of people waiting. Plenty of options if you're not a fussy eater. In the main restaurant there was a different theme each night, although I feel more could be done to emphasise this and would often be a few dishes. Rooms were spacious, cleaned daily and the beds were comfy. They had duvets, rather than just a sheet like a lot of hotels have. The air con in the room (block 4) worked well. There are no lifts but reception promptly arrange for assistance if required. All staff were pleasant, they didn't look for tips but appreciate them and tipping did get you better quality service, as it does in most hotels. The animation team did a great job. We didn't get involved too much with the daily activities as we wanted to relax but the option was there. They weren't pushy at all. All in all a lovely family holiday. Lots of relaxing and memories made. Would return.
1/5 – Privacy breached, complaint investigated and dismissed
We stayed at Hotel Riu Tikida Dunas as a family in August 2026 on a two-room, all-inclusive booking. Unfortunately, our experience was extremely disappointing, and what happened afterwards with RIU Customer Relations has only added to that disappointment.
The most serious issue was guest privacy.
My wife and I had the hotel's red DO NOT DISTURB sign clearly displayed on our room door. Despite this, a member of staff entered our room while my wife and I were being intimate.
We were absolutely mortified.
A hotel room is supposed to be a private space, and when guests have specifically displayed a Do Not Disturb sign, I cannot understand how that instruction can simply be disregarded.
This was not our only DND issue.
On another morning at approximately 9:30am, a cleaning staff member repeatedly knocked on our door despite the red DND sign. I called through the door explaining that we were asleep and asking to be left alone. The knocking continued.
Eventually, out of frustration, I opened the door. To my astonishment, the staff member simply wanted to ask whether a sock belonged to me. I pointed directly at our red Do Not Disturb sign. She looked at it, looked at me and shrugged.
On several mornings while walking through the corridors to breakfast, I also personally witnessed cleaning staff knocking on other guest-room doors despite red DND signs being clearly displayed.
There were plenty of other disappointments.
We found the air conditioning extremely poor, the hotel generally tired and run-down and unpleasant smells in areas of the property.
Entertainment was extremely disappointing, there was very little evening atmosphere, bars closed surprisingly early and there was no room service.
Despite paying for a four-star all-inclusive holiday, we found ourselves leaving the resort and spending additional money in outside establishments for food and drinks.
After returning home, I made a formal complaint to RIU Customer Relations.
RIU told me that its staff undergo rigorous training regarding guest privacy and Do Not Disturb signs and that rooms displaying DND signs are registered as non-serviced.
RIU also confirmed that its electronic door-lock system records entries with timestamps and staff identification.
I therefore specifically asked RIU to investigate those records.
RIU subsequently informed me that it had conducted what it described as a “thorough internal investigation” with hotel management and stated that there were “significant discrepancies” between the events described in my complaint and its verified operational records.
RIU said its operational logs, electronic lock audits and internal staff records were confidential and could not be shared externally.
They subsequently refused my request for financial reimbursement and informed me that they considered the matter fully investigated and closed.
I respect RIU's right to state the outcome of its investigation. Equally, I stand by what my wife and I personally experienced.
The fact that we did not immediately go to reception and describe an incredibly embarrassing intimate incident does not mean that it did not happen. We had just been walked in on during an intensely private moment and were mortified.
I gave RIU the opportunity to investigate the complaint and resolve matters directly. Unfortunately, their final response has done nothing to restore my confidence in the hotel.
People reading this review can make up their own minds. I can only describe honestly what we personally experienced, what I witnessed during our stay, and what RIU subsequently communicated to me.
We expected a relaxing four-star, all-inclusive family holiday. Based on our experience, the condition and service of the hotel, the repeated problems surrounding our Do Not Disturb sign and RIU's subsequent handling of our complaint:
We would not return to Hotel Riu Tikida Dunas and cannot recommend it to other travellers.
