Paradise Found

Review by S1max Norfolk, United Kingdom

We stayed in Conch a premium waterfront cottage at the beautiful Cocobay Resort 27/07/21 – 10/08/21 booked through BA from the UK. We had the most wonderful, relaxing holiday and this hotel will forever hold a special place in our hearts. The resort is so beautiful and the whole Cocobay team are the most lovely people we have ever had the privilege to meet anywhere in the world...

From the moment we walked into reception to the lovely and friendly reception team we knew we were going to have the relaxing holiday we were so desperately in need of. We were taken to our cottage immediately, walking through the beautifully maintained gardens. We were so lucky to be given Conch, we had requested this cottage via e-mail before hand and the view was just WOW! This cottage is right at the very edge of the resort and sits above Valley Church beach. It was charming and had an authentic caribbean feel and the bed was so comfortable. The cottage was thoroughly cleaned daily by the lovely Daphne. The mini fridge, complete with open freezer section was stocked daily with soft drinks and beer. We spent all our time on our comfortable sun beds on our deck and in our splash pool looking at that amazing view. The pool was in sun almost all day and was not cold in August.

Rafters restaurant sits overlooking the turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea, just perfect. The food is of an excellent standard and the menu is á la carte and on a 14 day rotation so even staying as long as we did we never had the same menu twice. As we were in a premium cottage the premium options on the menu were included. However, the menu is so good every single evening you really don’t need to. The staff in the restaurant are working so hard underneath those masks and are doing so with a smile. Nothing is too much trouble and they are all so kind. Denise was so very kind to me one day whilst I was in pain, she really is a lovely, kind lady. As this was a delayed celebration of our 30th anniversary we chose to have an evening meal at Sheer Rocks which sits directly underneath Cocobay and is accessed through the resort. I have to say that yes the meal was very nice but perhaps we were spoilt with the food from Cocobay as we really didn’t think it was much different. This in no way reflects badly upon Sheer Rocks but reflects very favourable on the food served at Cocobay.

Cocobay sits on both Ffryes beach where there are free to use sun beds, and you can hire jet skis from there too. The beach is lovely and the sea is beautiful. The sun beds on the beach would benefit from cushions being made available to guests as I found them very uncomfortable having spine issues. To the other side of the resort is Valley Church beach. It is a bit of a walk out of the hotel and up a track in the hot sun but oh so worth it. The beach is lovely and very often you are the only people there. We even saw a large turtle swimming by! During our time there we also saw lots and lots of lizards, hummingbirds, pelicans, a barracuda, and many different birds and fish. It truly was a tropical paradise.

The cocktail menu was good and they will always try to make you something different if you asked. The alcohol was fine and plentiful and served with a smile. Light bites were served in the afternoon’s by the bar. We only went a couple of times as the breakfasts, lunches and dinners were keeping us very well fed.

We decided not to go on any excursions this time due to COVID but they were running and boats were picking people up directly from Ffryes beach. We did go out on the hobie cat one afternoon for about an hour which you book in reception at a cost of $45 each.

We were so sad to leave this amazing resort. Very often it is the small things that make the difference between good and amazing. Cocobay Resort delivered over and above any expectations we had. Thank-you Cocobay we will be back again one day!

Perfect honeymoon destination

Review by HippelJill

My husband and I stayed at Cocobay for 8 nights in June for our honeymoon. We had a lovely time. We stayed in the Tamarinde Caye (TC) premium waterfront pool suite, which felt 100% private and secluded...

The views were unbelievable - we slept with the curtains wide open and let the sun wake us naturally each morning, then enjoyed the beautiful views on the deck. It was fantastic.

The main restaurant, Rafters, was great. There were new rotating options every day, plus some basic items as well for picky eaters. My husband is a big eater and we never were hungry. Dinner had four courses, and you can order as much as you like. One morning at breakfast I ordered two French toast entrees because it was so good! We were very, very impressed with the food. The paninis at the pool bar were great, too!

The resort has a very chill, serene vibe which we really enjoyed. If you are looking to party, I suggest looking elsewhere. There was a live band by the restaurant a few nights during the week, and we thought that was the perfect level of entertainment for us. The main draw for the resort, for us, was the romantic vibe.

We did book some of the extras and enjoyed them all. We did the breakfast in the romance pool, tapas in the black rock pool, two private poolside dinners, and two massages. All were fantastic and well worth the price. The only tip I would offer is to do the black rock pool for breakfast OR tapas on a day that Sheer Rocks is closed - we did the afternoon tapas when Sheer Rocks was open, and there were people from the restaurant looking down at us, which made it feel a little less private.

Overall, we had a wonderful time. We absolutely will be back!

Great honeymoon!

Review by J4492HXnicoled

Visited Coco Bay for our honeymoon and absolutely loved it. Took a taxi from the airport and although they drive a little recklessly, we made it safe. The hotel itself is absolutely gorgeous and the staff at the front desk is so nice and helpful...

The one inclusive restaurant they have serves all three meals and the food is usually very good. I would say out of 8 days, we only had two meals that were just ok and and every other one was amazing. So overall great review on the food. The drinks at the bar were very good as well. The staff at the restaurant was typically very nice but there were a couple that if you asked them something, they would either not even look at you or act very unhappy to help you. Ive found that this is to be expected at an all inclusive but most of the time, the service was very attentive. Jermaine, Sasha and Mr. Gore were the nicest we met! The one complaint is that there was so many bugs so bring bug spray. I would definitely recommend doing the floating breakfast or lunch. So fun and a great experience! The restaurant attached to the resort but not included in the all inclusive is Sheer Rocks which is very good as well. The menu is in Eastern Caribbean dollars so keep in mind when looking at the menu pricing. We were confused at first thinking it was super expensive but it is not when you convert to US dollars. Overall we loved Coco Bay and will be back for sure. Its a great, safe spot with great food.
