Honest review: If you want peace and quiet then this is your place , it’s along way from anything and a long expensive taxi ride to anything meaningful. Food: on a whole was pretty good but sometimes was a little lukewarm but the service especially Maxine was excellent. The à la carte might be a bit restrictive for some and if there’s nothing that takes your fancy then it’s $37 for steak or 1/2 lobster. Breakfast was good with a good variety Afternoon tea was a few sandwiches and some salad so get there early The beach and beach bar: short hop across to the beach via shuttle , beach is nice and raked daily unfortunately for us there was an algae bloom and the bay was pretty murky and you couldn’t swim. Pool bar was maned by the excellent Enrique, bar had a selection of drinks and panini or wraps daily. Rooms are just as the pictures you see with the pools and are lovely, only downside is when you arrive you have 2 bottles of water you need to keep these and refill them by the bar as they are not replenished without a cost. Pool area: Small but perfectly functional with a nice pool 1.5m depth decking and tables could do with more chairs at one point there was only 8 so we borrowed a few from the restaurant once they had stopped serving. Trips: these can be expensive and often require an additional cost for a taxi so be aware, we hired a car and that was €65 a day plus you drivers permit on top, the island is small and definitely worth an explore. Summary: overall I enjoyed my time at the Escape
The Escape at Nonsuch Bayside Resort was absolutely perfect. Food was delicious. Rum Punch & Pina Colada were among our favorite drinks. The atmosphere was chill & relaxed. Rooms & pools were clean. Shout-out to the amazing, very hospitable staff who made us feel right at home; Randy, Enrique, Hanah, Donamae, Ivanna and Dianna. 🌸 Thank you all for making our experience so unforgettable!!
This resort has the best room in the entire Caribbean! The private pool is each room is amazing - perfect for couples! The entire staff is welcoming and friendly! We can’t wait to return!
I cannot describe how welcoming & fabulous the staff are here. It’s pairs back elegance. Meals are à la carte. The choice is always great but there are alternatives like steak available too.
We had a car and spent days at stingray city, valley church beach, and various beach clubs. I recommend a car as the hotel is isolated but something we valued as a sanctuary. The epicure supermarkets are great to pick up bits out and about.
The rooms are all the same - upstairs have vaulted ceilings while downstairs are the same without the high ceilings. The rooms are so well laid out. The patios all look out over the woodland. Delux have a bay view. But no matter which room you get - I am sure you will be delighted. Comfy beds, cool air conditioning and fabulous outdoor space.
It was my nieces birthday while we were here and the restaurant kindly arranged a cake & champagne for me.
The evening vibe suited me. Guests mingled , chatted and enjoyed quiet drinks on the dock before the bar cleared around 9.30pm & all went to rooms (important to nite if unlike me you like to party).
For outings I recommend Catherine’s cafe at pigeons point, Shirley heights, the bar at valley church beach, Dickinson bay, the urchin or pizza place at jolly harbour. For hire car I recommend Pete’s cars at Freetown. He delivers to the hotel and picks up.
In summary a fabulous short break and we loved the vibe & applaud the staff culture which is to be nurtured & commended.
Thank you!
Just returned from 9 nights at Escape…what can I say! I would return in a heartbeat! Went with my parents and my son for a complete rest and relaxation holiday and that is exactly what we got!
It isn’t your usual all inclusive which others have explained in their reviews and suited us perfectly, drinks are plentiful and the food was delicious - we never had a bad meal there. You get a QR code to download the days menu and you book in your meal times at breakfast which is well organised. I am vegetarian and I would just say that there wasn’t always a veggie option on the menu but you just ask and the chef will provide you with something yummy!
The room was great, spacious, simple, clean and comfy and the pool in the room is a great addition, gave you a little sanctuary to chill out and have some quality time together. The dock area was also nice to get away from the main pool area, there was seating available and you could take a drink down there.
The staff throughout the resort were amazing from the restaurant staff to the maintenance staff, the cleaners, the security man on the entrance and the reception staff! Everyone was helpful and friendly; always a wave and a smile as you’re walking around!
We rented a car (plenty of parking space at the resort) and we didn’t go mad but added in three or four island exploration days and was lucky enough to watch the first day of the second test of Windies v Sri Lanka which was a great experience (organised this ourselves). We also did the excursion to Green Island which was like our own private beach, spent 2 hours snorkelling and was lucky enough to see some turtles! This was organised by reception staff and was easy to book!
We went out to the beaches more than attend the one attached to the resort but when we went that was fine, the water had a lot of seaweed but the beach was relatively clean of it! It was extremely quiet and there is a free shuttle and I would DEFINITELY recommend getting that as the walk can be brutal in the heat!
It is exactly how it looks on the website…if you want a quiet, relaxed holiday away from the hustle and bustle book it, you won’t regret it!!
