Boasting the ultimate location on the Platinum coast of the island, Fairmont Royal Pavilion, is setting new standards of ultra-luxury in the Carribean and beyond, retaining a sense of serene seclusion with a unique beachfront position unlike any other resorts on the island. A multi-million dollar renovation at Fairmont Royal Pavilion has dramatically changed the hotel's guest rooms and raised the bar for luxury hospitality in Barbados.

It was the perfect getaway: an oasis of tranquility. Wonderful location on the West Coast. Every bedroom faces the sea which is yards away. Great pool and bar. Loungers on the beach and a floating dive platform. Great staff, friendly and professional. Good food. The perfect relaxing holiday.
A couple of weeks before a serious birthday, we decided to travel to Barbados. I used Trailfinders to do my bookings, and asked them additionally to buy the meet and greet service having read earlier reviews. I can honestly say this service is the best money spent n a long long time...
The airport was like a zoo - full to the brim of people. I was through in 35 minutes of landing.
The hotel is well kept, very clean, and the whole team are kind and do there best to make your holiday worthwhile. I bought half board, as this is my first trip out of the UK since the COVID crisis. Everyone wears masks around the place to keep each other safe. I don’t want to leave tomorrow, but I will be back, and have thoroughly enjoyed my time here.
Rooms are good and an excellent nights sleep was enjoyed by both us.
We stayed here as a couple for 7 nights in September 2021. Previous reports have suggested that the hotel is looking tired. Possibly it needs a lick of paint in a few places but we thought the room was very good, light, airy and spotlessly clean...
All rooms face the sea so you are assured of a stunning view from your balcony or terrace. The lounge, bar and pool areas were also very nice. Yes, possibly a little “old fashioned” but that is usually the way in the Caribbean and adds to the charm. If you want a brand new looking hotel, then you need to go to somewhere plastic, like Las Vegas.
Another reviewer posted that the hotel should be avoided because of the COVID precautions. In fact, we had no such problems. Being both fully vaccinated, we took the arrival test on landing in Barbados (the test is free at the airport) and then simply were confined to the grounds of the hotel (ie. our room and balcony, the pool and the restaurant areas) until we received a negative result about 36 hours later. The only no go area during this time was the beach. Only non-vaccinated persons have to quarantine in their room for the first 5 days.
The hotel also offers an expedited arrival process at the airport whereby a Fairmont representative will meet you from the aircraft and facilitate your egress to the front of the queue through the immigration and COVID testing procedures. This needs to be booked in advance with the hotel but is well worth arranging as it allowed us to beat a very long queue of hundreds of people waiting to be tested.
Breakfast was plentiful and of good quality, taken in the open air restaurant. The only negative was that breakfast service was patchy. Some days, they’d forget to bring your pastries and fruit plate. Other days, they got the order wrong. Most of the breakfast staff were friendly, a couple were less so. This really is the only area where I think they need to improve.
The drinks were expensive at the hotel - £5 or £6 for a soft drink in the restaurant and the pool. But this is what you would expect for an international brand hotel, especially so in a place like Barbados where pretty much everything is more expensive than its equivalent in the U.K.
The housekeeping staff and pool attendants were, without exception, warm, helpful and friendly. I gave the housekeeper a tip at the end of our stay, which I know she appreciated. Some reviewers have commented previously that hotel staff and the local people were unfriendly. With the very odd exception, we did not find this to be the case. Everyone smiled and said good morning or good afternoon. I have to say that, if you treat hotel staff without manners and courtesy, then you cannot expect them to go out of their way to help you. We observed a minority of British guests speaking to hotel staff and waiting staff in restaurants in a way which suggested they viewed them as their “servants”. One should not be surprised if one does not get the service one expects if one doesn’t have the basic manners to say please and thank you. I’m always embarrassed to be British when I see some ignorant Brit who seems not to understand that having a few basic manners goes a long way.
Overall, we thought this hotel was very good and we would return in the future.
This was our 2nd visit having originally visited in 2019. The beach front location is outstanding - words cannot describe the beautiful views over crystal clear waters, which you will enjoy from bedrooms or either of the on-site restaurants. The staff are wonderful and make every effort to accommodate your needs...
Michael leads brilliant pool/beach team; Alison, Shakem, Aamir and Keisha looked after the family at breakfast, lunch and dinner and Nicole walked thousands of steps each day keeping us hydrated !! House keeping standards are very good, with twice daily visits and replenishment of hot drinks, water, etc. For those worrying about COVID protocols, from the moment you step into arrivals, through Airport testing, and throughout our visits we were impressed with protocols across the island. We were tested at the Airport (free) and had results in less than 24 Hours, and also opted for expedited arrival process which is great value for money and a lovey way to start your holiday. If your looking for a piece of paradise. Most definitely re-visiting in 2022.
