Very comfortable stay - worth the sea view room

Review by agoeri687060 London, United Kingdom

Had a really nice stay in Radisson in Jan 2022. Upgraded to an ocean room view on 6th floor, totally worth it, good view and you can watch the local jockeys exercise the horses in the sea from your balcony. Food is not gourmet like restaurants along the West coast but it’s and breakfast buffet is what you’d expect from an international hotel...

Location pretty good as you are between the West coast (fancy) and South (more buzzing with cheaper restaurants and nightlife). Only downside is pool a little dirty hence docked a point but literally nobody uses it as you’re right on the beach anyway. If you want to do scuba then I’d recommend walking to the Hilton 5 mins away and booking through their scuba shop, it’s reasonably priced despite the actual Hilton being double or triple the price of Radisson. Would recommend Radisson and stay if could get another bargain.

MOMENTS THAT TOOK OUR BREATH AWAY

Review by Denise G Wakefield, United Kingdom

Just returned from our two week holiday staying at Radisson Aquatica located on one of the worlds best beaches on the beautiful island of Barbados. Having read reviews before going on this holiday we were determined to keep a positive open mind and write our review in an honest factual manner.

On our arrival we were warmly greeted by Shaun (Desk Concierge) and his assistant. We were immediately offered a choice of welcome drink of which we chose a rum punch obviously which was gratefully received after a long flight...

The check in process was quick and simple, we were escorted to the lifts and advised that our cases would follow, which arrived moments later. Our request was to have floor 5 overlooking the beautiful Carlisle Bay Beach which was duly granted. Just amazing !

Although the hotel is a little dated in it's appearance and furniture this is surpassed by the amazing location, views of the ocean and coastline, scrupulously clean with lots of reassuring Covid-19 safety procedures in place, masks were worn at all times by all staff members.

The main and only restaurant is located on the pier which stretches into the ocean which creates the perfect ambiance for a delightful meal setting to view the ocean and beach which is to the left and right of your table through the open plan windows which allows a beautiful sea breeze to flow through the restaurant.

The food served to us was from the A La Carte Menu with a good choice range and was always served piping hot with fresh ingredients being used to create flavoursome meals. Breakfast could be A La Carte or buffet style with plenty of options to choose from.

We were fortunate on our second night (Old Years Night) to attend the Gala dinner with the restaurant being adorned with special table ware and decorations and entertainment being laid on all evening where all who attended revelled and danced into the small hours. A bonus was seeing the fireworks on the beach next to the hotel through the open plan windows to the restaurant, immensely enjoyed.

A shout out to all the staff who were warm, friendly and professional and made it easier for us to reciprocate the warmth and friendliness in return. A special mention for the following staff members:

Sophia - Restaurant Manager Customer Experience - Truly professional in her approach and ability to train and encourage her staff to excel.

Rodney Sealy - Events Manager - A true gentleman who knows the art of being a professional senior head of house to the restaurant.

Fabian Adams - Waiter - New to the art of waitering but a beautiful, bubbly personality wanting to only please, was a delight to be served by him.

Jemina - Waitress - The most bubbly, friendly, full of life true person which was a delight to see and have her serve us.

Deborah - Waitress - (In the know ! - she'll know what we mean ha ha) An infectious giggle and a superb new addition to the team in the restaurant.

Everybody else that we came across (Unable to remember all the names, sorry) were always polite and professional always had a Good morning/good afternoon/hello for us/or a wave ! So thank you.

On our second night we had an issue with the shower being too hot and too cold with a slow flow of water, the plumber was booked and he came first thing in the morning. He fit a new shower head and rectified the temperature with new parts being installed - all rectified, very speedy and efficient service, thank you.

Mid way through our stay we were unable to access our room when using our card, we went to reception to report and immediately Shaun had the engineer come to our room to re-programme all sorted within 10 minutes, absolutely amazing first class and prompt service again, thank you.

Overall our experience has been excellent and have re-booked our second stay for the same time this year, can not wait !! See you again soon

Former Holiday Inn needs renovation

Review by yrechnam Chicago, Illinois

Check in was easy and quick and the rooms are large and comfortable. This hotel was formerly a Holiday Inn before changing to a Radisson - the rooms are in need of renovation - the AC is loud and consists of individual room units, the bathroom lighting is from the eighties and the entire decor is dated. The restaurant is a disaster - the two items I ordered for lunch had to be returned as they were dripping with oil - service in the restaurant is slow or non-existent. Breakfast took an hour with the wait to order and to receive the 2 fried eggs that I ordered (cold by the time I got them)...

The menu selection is poor and the entire restaurant needs new management.

Back to the Future

Review by dpR6394ID United Kingdom

One day if we're lucky all stays will be this way. It's not the Ritz and doesn't spend time trying to be the Ritz - it's a large, comfortable bedroom overlooking the nicest stretch of beach on the coast, with a crew like family away from home.

Find Sophia in the restaurant (Radisson Rihanna!), get your local food tips from Ebony or Jemima, wind Kevin up about the cricket. The real treasure of Barbados is its people and they all here.

Pro-tips: if you like hot sauce, ask for 'One Drop' in the restaurant...

For street-foodies the best dhal-puri roti outside of Trinidad is on the nearest corner by the main road. Also a fine kebab joint there.
