cobblers is cooler !

Review by alanEastSussexUk Hastings, United Kingdom

Yes as people who have stayed at sandy lane many times in the past we have grown to appreciate the calm and tranquil beauty of Cobblers. we stayed in our favourite sute , the colleton , of which a former urbane manager said of residents of this suite people go there and they rarely leave the room !- its that spacious with a plunge pool and large terrace with lovely views of the sea and the hotel surrounds . its nice to see many of the previous staff in the hotel and we had a lovely 2 weeks which we didnt want to end . Excellent breakfasts - calm !- with everything you might want, very good lunches particularly when lobster swam into the net - the best lobster - dinner was something to look forward to with our only cavil that many of the starters were not to our taste but the mains and dessets were all enjoyed as was the white wine from Francis Ford Coppolas vineyard , a particular favourite The gardens of the hotel are pretty the setting here is perfect , the staff like to have a laugh as do we , which is one of the main reasons we return to barbados - laughter is in short supply in most london restaurants and hotels ! We will certainly return next year and look forward to it

Garden Suite

A very small boutique hotel within a great location in Barbados. The pool is small however, this in my opinion is not important due to the prime location to access the beach. It has a great sea view! We where with a group of friends who had the main suite, sea view suite and garden suites...

Overall I think the upper floor garden suites are best value along with the upper floor sea view suites.

The service levels can vary day to day but generally are good and is very relaxed which is a common theme throughout Barbados.

The breakfast is average, I had every meal and the best option by far is the French toast. Just request some honey with it! The smoked fish with a poached egg is also delicious.

For lunch/dinner I would recommend getting either the club sandwich or the curry. Overall it is overpriced though for what you get. The bar is great and they serve great cocktails! Alongside this on Sundays they put up some great entertainment and Wednesday they do managers drinks.

The water sport is also a great option and keeps you entertained! We utilised this quite a lot and asked the boat to take us too a few restaurants such as the lone star.

Lastly, we utilised the nanny service. The lady we had was called Cherry, I would highly recommend as they where very friendly and very accommodating with our son. Although it is not geared for babies or toddlers the hotel staff made us feel very welcome as they always addressed ourselves and son by our names.

Overall we really enjoyed our stay and thought it was good. However, it is costly and do think you can find equally as good accommodation cheaper although if likemyself you utilise the water sport everyday, you probably do get your monies worth. They where also very accommodating and made you feel at home. Also as the hotel is small you do speak too other guests

Great to be back in Barbados

We’ve just stayed for the first time at Cobblers Cove Hotel for 9 nights; a hotel that I’ve followed on reviews and by who stays there. As there had been some refurbishment, we decided to book.

One of the smaller Barbados hotel, our Ocean View suite was a bit of a disappointment- leaning over the balcony to get a glimpse of the sea, very noisy throughout the day from maintenance, cleaners and the neighbouring boat area so no place to rest or nap during the day. We got the impression that the Garden rooms were quieter and I believe, less pricey...

I did speak to Joanna, the very friendly General Manager, who did her best to put things right. Perhaps some glazing to the windows overlooking the pathways and work areas might help instead of just wooden shutters.

Service was excellent by all staff we met, perhaps not as quick as some guests might have liked but we felt it was part of the slower paced charm. Complimentary afternoon tea was a nice touch too.

The age group was mixed, some children as it was school holidays, mostly couples. The pool is quite compact and central and can get noisy with children but plenty of sun beds away from pool area. There is limited beach directly by the hotel which is a pity.

There was a wedding scheduled while we were there, with wedding guests rather taking over the restaurant, pool and bar areas as they arrived. This did slow things down considerably and perhaps a heads-up before we booked might have been nice. It is a small hotel and space for events such as a family wedding is limited. We weren’t too bothered but some guests were extremely upset at the level of service and inconvenience, especially at such an expensive hotel.

The breakfasts were excellent, the dinner menu wasn’t very exciting and to my taste, over spiced! Needs to be changed more often.

Overall, a

One Week at Cobbler Cove

Review by CHARLES H London, United Kingdom

My wife fell in love with the hotel, the helpful and wonderful staff, the relaxed old school atmosphere. By chance I bumped into two aquaintances who had been coming for years. Good rooms, excellent service, free waterskiing and other watersports, so good for teenagers...

They also did their PADI exam down the coast each day. We will be returning.

Dinner

We had dinner at Cobblers Cove the first time and it was so good we just had to return for a second visit before we left Barbados. Although we weren’t staying at the hotel, we were staying a bit further along the beach, during dinner we couldn’t have asked for better service from the staff and the food was as good as anywhere we ate on the island. We can’t speak highly enough of our experience there.
