We had booked to stay in the Neptun but were actually given a room in the Ariston, which was fantastic. We didn't have a sea view but this didn't bother us at all as the room was so fantastic. The facilities are very well kept, and there is plenty to do and see around the Lapad area, so don't worry about not being directly in old town - Ubers to the old town cost about 80 kuna (£9 ish) and only take 10-15 mins...
We had told the hotel it was our anniversary, and after coming back from our first half day, there was a complimentary bottle of prosecco and some chocolates as well as a lovely letter - nice touch! The pools were all fantastic, particularly the rooftop one.
As mentioned in other reviews, breakfast was disappointing. We only used the breakfast facility for 4/7 days of our stay because the choices were so limited and repetitive. It is a bit of a free - for - all, which I can understand with it being buffet style but I would totally recommend using the smaller dining hall if you're not so comfortable with people being on top of you. It wasn't bad by any means and all food was tasty, just a little boring and too crowded for our liking. Don't let it deter you from staying here, just perhaps prepare to eat out/ go early in the morning as there is a mad rush at 9am.
We found some members of staff fantastic, and some quite rude and unhelpful. However, we found this to be the same across Dubrovnik so not a criticism, just a general comment. We particularly liked the on the rocks bar, and the rooftop pool bar for day time drinks - the mango slushy is a must try. We were particularly disappointed with the housekeeping, despite the fact that they replenished towels daily, they made the bed (very loosely), but just left the throw cover and pillows strewn all over the floor. As a housekeeper myself, I found this so disappointing, particularly as we came off season. However, the housekeepers are always friendly and are the first to say good morning and how are you, so that did make up for it. The room on arrival was spotless as well.
Other than these minor issues, we had a thoroughly fantastic time. The staff at the rooftop bar work incredibly hard, as well as the reception staff who couldn't do more for us. A little tip that we didn't know - we had booked half board, and one of the nights we ate off the half board menu in restaurant Zoe - and had a disastrous experience. We went to La Castille one night, and they told us we could eat off the main menu and the cost of the half board meal would be taken off our bill, meaning we got a far larger choice, better meals and far better service at a very reasonable price.
Overall, the facilities are fantastic, staff on the whole are very pleasant and helpful, the location is great (particularly if you like a bit of peace and a retreat) and the views are to die for. I would definitely come back.
Rooms and location of the Hotel are perfect, sunset is stunning. Service at the reception, guest relation and housekeeping also very well. Service at the bar however has room for improvement - at least by some young ladies. It's a pity that currently there is no gym.
Amazing room and the view was FAB. Did have a few maintenance problems in the room but the lady at reception called Mjai who went out of her way to get these sorted for me. The other staff at the reception were really helpful too.
The staff working in 'On the Rocks' bar were fab, thank you all you are amazing and just made my holiday...
Nothing was a problem. They all work very hard.
I would go back to this hotel but agree with some of the other comments, especially around the beach area.
Hotel and facilities were excellent. Stunning views and cleaners did excellent job.
The WiFi and breakfast have been greatly improved (I believe) reading other reviews.
The service itself however is miles off...
Really poor service from bar staff to hotel. Never greeted you with a smile and generally all round very poor, stinks of a lack of training.
Surprisingly it’s the cleaners who were always friendly, greeted you with a smile and hello and always seemed happy to help with any queries.
I thought the rudeness and poor service was maybe a cultural issue, perhaps expectations of manners were a bit too high but when we went to have dinners in old town this proved to be completely incorrect.
Masks and COVID restrictions were not enforced- however I think this not the hotels responsibility.
Amazing hotel with the best views in Dubrovnik!
We stayed for 3 nights and the room was impeccable, not to mention the fantastic staff who catered to our every need. The resort has 2 beaches and we rotated between the two. Both had crystal clear water and a relaxing ambiance!
Tip: If you want to add an experience to your vacation, the resort has a speedboat you can hire for the day to take you to the Elaphiti Islands and the Blue Cave...
Best experience! And the skipper Robi is amazing as well :)
I highly recommend this hotel and resort as a whole, we will be returning on our next vacation!
