Walking in to the lobby is breath taking with sky high windows and a view of neighboring islands and the bluest of blue water. Check in was fast and easy and the staff very friendly and helpful. The staff maintains a strict Covid protocol and we always felt safe...
Walking distance to a number of great beaches including Coral beach, Copa Cabana beach and of course the hotels own beach/pool. The beach/pool features lounge chairs and complimentary towels. Access to the Adriatic is easy from beach/pool area. Also a nice feature we enjoyed is the walking path from the hotel to Lapad with a number of great restaurants and bars along the way. The hotels restaurants were excellent with a wide variety of offerings. The royal blue also features a complimentary breakfast every morning of your stay. Our favorite hang out sopt though was the roof top pool and bar! Great views and a unmatched vibe! We would recommend this hotel while visiting Dubrovnik again and again!
Well located, super clean hotel with stunning views of the sea and islands. Rooms are spacious and comfy. Breakfast buffet very rich and fresh...
Hotel had own access to the sea. We paid for sea view and that was very worth it. There is a bus stop 3 mins walk and bus can take guests to Dubrovnik old town in less then 20 mins.
Royal blue is part of a chain of hotels which are linked together. Royal blue was the standout from them all. If you’re staying here then book a sea view room...
You will not be disappointed. Staff were very helpful with anything that we needed. Rooms were clean and there was no noise. Omg the beds, I don’t know where they get them from but the mattress was like sleeping on a cloud, so so comfy!
Location is great, 10 min walk down the promenade and you have a number of restaurants and shops to choose from. Old city is always a hour walk away, which we did a few times, in a Uber it’s like £3 which is pretty cheap all things considered.
Breakfast was the only thing which I would say was poor. There was a mad rush all the way through, once food items finished they didn’t fill them up again . Certainly not a 5* experience. Me and my partner skipped breakfast a few times as we didn’t fancy a fight over food! Seen as it’s served from 6:30-10:30 you’d think it would be more civil but that was far from reality.
All in all, when we visit Dubrovnik again we will certainly stay at royal blue.
We stayed here for a week in September and overall I would say that we had a really lovely stay. The hotel staff are all very friendly and accommodating. As the hotel is joined to and spread across other Royal Hotels, there are plenty of pools and beach areas to choose from so it never felt too busy or crowded and we could always find a couple of free loungers...
We ate at Zoe's and La Castille and had really lovely meals at both. We also got the bus into town a few times, which was great, although I would say that the hotel needs better signage to the bus stop.
The room was huge and the bed was comfy. We were disappointed that we weren't able to get a sea view room. We had a partial sea view (to the side) but otherwise overlooked the car park and the road which was busy enough for us to keep the doors shut as it got quite noisy. So I would definitely recommend going for a sea view room if you can.
Breakfast could be a bit of a scrum if you arrived at a peak time. On our last day we arrived earlier (before 8am) as we needed to get to the airport, and it was so much nicer and calmer, so I would recommend getting there as early as you can to avoid queues and ensure all the stations are fully stocked. Otherwise it was very nice and there was probably something there for everyone.
My other recommendation would be for the hotel to offer a wider variety of lunch options. Everywhere seems to offer the same menu at lunchtime, which is quite limited unless you're really into pizza. I would have liked more lighter options, e.g. salads, sandwiches, etc. Having said that, the pizzas are quite nice and the burger they do is really delicious!
My other niggle is that the bars don't open until 11am. It's not that I need alcohol before this time! But it would have been nice to get a cold drink or some water before then, but there was absolutely nowhere to get anything at all to drink before 11am.
COVID-wise, they have hand sanitizers everywhere and most of the staff were wearing face masks (although I noticed that a lot of them were only wearing it over their mouths). A lot of other guests were not wearing masks indoors, despite guidance that you should. Apart from that we felt fairly safe and obviously took our own precautions, so we got back safely and healthily - and generally feeling better for getting away to some proper sunshine!
Apart from that, it's a lovely resort and I would recommend it to anyone who's willing to venture abroad in these strange times.
Awesome hotel with a great location for access to old town Dubrovnik and everywhere else you need to go, if you even need to go anywhere. A lot of amenities in the resort make it easy and convenient to enjoy your time without having to leave. Will be visiting again!
