Fantastic. Would recommend.
Fantastic holiday at the Lacroma. Hotel was lovely, clean and well managed and maintained. Plenty of sun loungers throughout the day and lovely garden areas around. Pool was very clean, a great size with background music at a nice level and gorgeous views. Easy to jump on a local bus into Dubrovnik and a pretty transfer route to and from the airport. Rooms were a good size for the 3 of us, very clean. We had a side sea view with balcony on the 5th floor. We enjoyed half board for our 4 nights, plenty of choice of meat, fish, salads etc. We asked for tap water with our meals and that was fine. Some drinks ( especially soft drinks) were on the expensive side but it was easy to pop to the local shops for drinks and snacks during the day. Nice relaxed atmosphere at meals outside and we had no problems getting a table. Good pizza place 5 mins walk from the pool area. We would happily recommend and return.
Really pleasant family holiday
A new experience staying at the Valamar collection. They seem to be the premier range of hotels in Croatia. Th important thing to note about this hotel is that it's part of a compelx of a 'collection' of 4 valamar resorts in this location and as such you have the benefit of being able to use some of the facilities of the other hotels during your stay such as the pools asn beaches. The Lacroma itself is a lovely, fairly new and well kept hotel. Spacious and did not feel too crowded even in the peak of August. Staff were good, rooms good and pools good. There's a ;ovely bar to sit on an eveneing which stretches out onto the oprn terrace which is equally if not more pleasant to sit out at and enjoy a drink and some live music. Its really well located and has plenty of buses running into Dubrovnik old town, which is only 15-20 mins away. The main beach itself on the resort is only about a 10 min walk and is really good - although a stone beach - like all beaches in Croatia. The one thing which I would say was a let down and I thought was very poor was the buffet restaurant for evening meals. This may have just been my personal taste because others seemed to be anjoying it but I thought the quality of the food was dreadful, really didn't like it. For the 35 Euros without any drinks included at all this just didn't seem good enough for me. We ate in the other places available there and it was nice, as was breakfast. We actually paid for the upgraded V Level experience. This provided a few main benefits, which were actually all pretty good as follows. The best perk was a completely seperate private breakfast restaurant with table service which was so much better than going into the buffet in many ways. There was a seperate sun bed area by the pool, which was much much better and provided all sorts of habanas and bean basg cushions and extra shade etc. In this area you also had availability to free iced water, juice and coffee all day as awell as fruit plus from 5-6 there were V Level snacks put on (not much but a few small sandwiches) but best was unlimited prosecco for the full hour. Other V Level benefit of note was a pricate section of the President Beach that had better sun loungers and habanas as well as free water, juice and fruit. All in all a really nice hotel and stay. It's quite a lot per night though and wouldn't compare in quality terms to some similarly priced hotels elsewhere in the world of 5 start status, so just depends what yur budget and expectations are.

An honest review from a wellbeing consultant... Wouldn't rush back!
Good overall experience 6/10, but I wouldn't rush back...
We had a long que to check-in and was given a basic room with no balcony. We booked for x10 nights and were told it was too busy to move rooms as they were fully booked. Fair enough but for a x10 night stay, a standard room with a balcony would have been better. The air-conditioning was not great either, it kept us just about cool enough. I was asked to check every morning if a different room was available which seemed arduous rather than them leave a note in our room or call us. It's the first hotel room we have ever stayed in WITHOUT a balcony. We paid nearly £4k for half board, plus extra for the lunches/drinks around the hotel, nearly £4.5k in total.
The hotel is VERY expensive for lunch and drinks which is rather off putting. Again, we have stayed at high-end resorts which didn't charge as much for drinks/food etc,. You get the feeling they were always trying to make money every minute.
Customer service really needs some work! It shows when they are at full capacity, the staff become stressed. I would say having a good way with people of all cultures should be a standard in the hotel industry, regardless of English, French, Italian etc.,
The food could do with more variety, especially the puddings selection. They would run out of things often and be very slow to refill.
The pools are nice, the communal parts of the hotel nice, our room felt dated with carpet and no coffee machine... The gym is nice but very small. Lots of under utilised space in the hotel.
Atmosphere was OK, although an air of tension was always at play with people staying in the hotel too.. A somewhat strange holiday experience but lovely. Hotel Tirena seemed quite a bit better overall I would say!

location is good. breakfast is amazing, but could do with extra coffee station and water dock. service is excellent,. the lounge bar is lovely at night, excellent bar,cocktails,jazzbar and music,particular shout out to our fabulous server Sania, who was there every night,remembered us and was just all round fabulous. she was fantastic.
Very clean & great location
Just returned from a 5-day visit to Croatia, and overall, we really loved our stay.
The hotel was exceptionally clean, and all of the staff were very friendly and welcoming. I had seen a few reviews mentioning that the drinks were expensive, but personally, I’d say they were only slightly above average and certainly not what I would consider crazy prices.
The breakfast buffet was excellent, with a great variety of choices and plenty of fresh food. One thing I would definitely recommend, though, is upgrading to a sea-view room with a balcony if you can. Our room itself was a great size, but unfortunately, we were placed on the ground floor facing the car park. We did ask if there were any other rooms available, but sadly there weren’t.
I had also emailed beforehand to let the hotel know that we were visiting as part of my 30th birthday celebrations. Unfortunately, nothing special was offered, although I completely understand that it was high season and the hotel was very busy.
The location is great, and getting into the Old Town is really easy, with buses running approximately every 10 minutes. The indoor pool and spa area are also stunning and were a lovely place to relax after a day of exploring.
Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend this hotel. There were a couple of small things that could have made our experience even better, but overall, it was a lovely hotel in a great location, and we had a fantastic time in Croatia.
