This charming and comfortable venue is located directly on the clear blue Adriatic Sea in the Bay of Lapad. The popular promenade is within walking distance, and a bus that goes to the Old town stops just in front of the hotel. Dubrovnik Airport is approximately 23 km away. The cosy and comfortable are carefully decorated and equipped with details that make all stays pleasant and priceless. The restaurant features one of Dubrovnik's most beautiful terraces with magnificent sea views and serves tantalising dishes, with a wine list to match. Those who want to enjoy a light Mediterranean meal and a chilled drink can visit the Lido beach bar, it is also the place from where to grab a colourful cocktail during the day while enjoying the pebbled beach.

The location of the hotel is great, right at the beach and next to the bus stop that will take you to the old town in 15 minutes. The beach is nice and perfectly located just outside the hotel. The breakfast was also good and it was wonderful to enjoy breakfast on the terrace by the sea...
You could see the sea from the room balcony, so the promised sea view existed, which was great. The price is very reasonable for Dubrovnik, 150 euros/night with a sea view and location right at the beach. The room is a what you would expect from a 3-star Croatian hotel, a bit worn-out but overall ok. The bed is kind of bad, everytime you roll over, it squeaks loudly. As a small downside, there is no luggage room in the hotel, so you just have to leave your luggage at the front desk together with 50 other baggages and hope they will still be there when you come back.
Unfortunately, the horrible staff ruins this otherwise lovely and good hotel. One night we went to the reception desk and we had 3 things we needed help with. The man at the desk helped us with our 1st issue and then completely pushed us aside and ignored us and began helping other guests who came way after us to the desk. Then we had to wait for 10 minutes for the staff to deal with these other guests before we could get back to our issues. We were at the desk before them! Why on Earth is the staff suddenly completely pushing us aside and ignoring us for other guests? This hotel has an attitude of favoring Croatian guests and being rude to foreign guests.
The check-out is at 11.00, the cleaning ladies stop working at 14.00 and the check-in is at 15.00. So we asked the staff if they could arrange for us to have a late-check out until 14.00. Regarding the above-mentioned, you would think that this would be easily arranged. But no. We offered to pay extra to stay until 14.00, but it was a rude no. Then we suggested that they could ask the cleaning ladies to clean our room last, at 13.45 and so we could stay until that, the cleaning ladies could go home on time and the next guests would have a perfectly clean room at 15.00 when they arrive. But no, this was absolutely not possible either.
This 14.00 check-out could all be so easily arranged. All it takes is a bit of organizing skills and a customer-service oriented attitude and a will to help the customers to ensure the best possible experience for all the guests, those leaving and those arriving. But no. Even the manager didn’t care at all. They claimed that only 11.00 check-out is possible, because the cleaning ladies spend 45 minutes cleaning each room. This is absolutely not true, because after the daily cleaning, there were papers and bottles all over the place (see picture) and the cleaning ladies had not brought more shampoo and shower gel so there wasn’t any in the room and we had to specifically ask for it. Hard to imagine that more than 5 minutes was spend to achieve a cleaning result like that, let alone 45 minutes. All the cleaning ladies had done, was to make up the bed.
They said they don’t care about bad reviews, because the whole city is so fully booked, that they will get plenty of customers anyway, no matter how rude and bad the service is. So therefore they don’t even bother to try. We recommend rather sleeping in a tent with a sleeping bag to avoid this hotel when the city is fully booked. Or visit Dubrovnik during low-season, when you can choose any other hotel, because lousy customer service like this should just not be encouraged due to lack of choice in other hotels. We booked this hotel ourselves because everything else was already booked, but didn’t expect to face all these problems.
The only member of the staff with the right kind of customer service attitude was the young dark-haired boy at the lobby. Thank you for wonderful service, the help with the luggage, bringing the soaps, everything. Maybe they should make him the manager, because the boy understands what customer service is about and has a great helpful attitude.
I visited Hotel vis in august. Apart from the location (it’s by the beach), the service is very poor. This is an old building conversion which is poorly renovated. On the second day , the toilet unit broke and started leaking...
No water kettle, no iron provided even upon requesting. The breakfast was okay but overall very poor service for the price you pay for. Not recommended.
Hotel Vis is in a bit of a 1970s time warp - but that’s no bad thing,
The rooms are basic, but impeccably clean and functional.
The wifi works even on the beach and at the bus stop outside!! Many a 4 & 5 star hotel fail on that point!!
Hotel parking was painless, with your own spot for the duration.
Breakfast buffet was generous, simple honest fare, with all the classics...
As self proclaimed foodies we didn’t take the half board offer, but it didn’t look bad for mass catering !!
The hotel has a private beach, swim in the morning before breakfast, catch the #4 bus outside the door and head into Dubrovnik for the day, bus back take a swim and enjoy the sunset.
What more could you ask?
Remember to pack your water shoes as the beach is pebbles so getting in and out of the water was challenging.
So glad we didn’t pick an old city hotel, not least because of access issues - who wants to wheel their case though the crowded streets and struggle up and down cobblestone stairs ?!!
I would come back in a heartbeat, give it a try.
Divine mojitos with glorious view from the hotel bar. Most amazing service by Mario, very professional and helpful! Excellent service, and great value for money. Such a relaxing location and and experience.
We stayed here as a couple for a week at the beginning of August and we really enjoyed. Despite the issue we had at check in it was quickly resolved by the hotel manager and we were given the room we had paid for. We had a double sea view room and the view was stunning, the best view we’ve ever had on a holiday...
The room was basic but spacious, the bed was comfortable and the air-con worked perfectly. Breakfast was lovely and had a great selection with a beautiful view. We enjoyed the private beach although we had to buy water shoes as the pebbles were pain getting in and out of the sea. We did miss not having a pool though so one day we went to Hotel Uvala across the road and paid something like 100 kuna to use their pool and spa facilities, we made the most of it and stayed there the entire day, the food was good there too! We also took an Uber to a few of the beaches around Dubrovnik and to the old town one evening. After reading not so great reviews about the hotel before we arrived we were anxious but overall we enjoyed our first holiday in 2 years and the hotel was good for us!
