Stayed here from the 8th to the 15th of July 2020 (during the covid-19 pandemic) and must say I have very mixed feelings about this place.
Other things which added to our disappointment:
The night we arrived (late check-in at around 03:00) we experienced a lot of noise and music coming from the room next door...
Arriving after 2 hours’ drive + 4 hours flight + 1-hour drive again (with a small child) to be met with this, was quite distressing - but it can happen, I understand. The problem is that we called the reception which sent a guard/employee to inform the people to turn it down - but nothing happened. We had to walk in there ourselves, with a tired/crying kid on the arm, in order for them to stop partying. So already from the beginning I had a bad feeling about this place, which unfortunately stayed with us throughout the majority of the stay.
Another thing is the way the general manager attended to us in regards of our complain about the closed breakfast buffet. He apologized about the situation, again referring to covid-19 as the cause (like I stated before, completely understandable, but then tell people before hand in stead of stating the buffet will still be open), offering us a complimentary meal in the Japanese restaurant. We accepted this, and had it been done the right way, I would have considered giving a 4-star review, but again we felt they tried to lure us into something we didn’t agree on. We were told we could eat for free, ordering from the a la carte menu on that particular night. After putting down our order (which went fine, no issues at all), the waiter came back some 5 minutes later, informing us that we were not allowed to pick for us selves, but had to go with a pre-arranged menu, consisting of what seemed to be the cheapest and most uninspiring dishes from the menu card (miso soup, plain maki rolls with avocado, cucumber, California, some fried chicken dish with rice and some sort of dessert I don’t remember). Having eaten at the same restaurant some days before, we knew that especially the basic maki rolls were nothing special, and we weren’t in the mood for some Chinese wok style fried chicken with rice – which I told the waiter. And all of a sudden, we were allowed to have what we initially ordered from the menu. This whole thing kind of ruined the whole experience, which could have made a good out of the bad, we had already experienced up until now.
Luckily we got a deal on this stay – had we paid the full price I saw on Booking.com, I would have felt completely ripped off.
So all in all, an okay hotel – but by no means a 5-star resort.
Would I go again, or recommend to others? Yes and no – if you are okay with 3-star quality on rooms, food and some aspects of the service, go – if you expect a 5-star resort experience, with superb food, the very best service all around and luxury rooms of highest quality, forget about it.
3 stars (being generous) from here.
My husband has been chasing a refund since March and we have had lots of false promises of a refund from the hotel. Now the hotel will not respond to any of our emails and each time we call and ask if they speak English we get the phone put down on us. Very unprofessional and extremely stressful.
Recently visited this gorgeous hotel. Stayed for 10 days - wish it could’ve been longer. This hotel is truly special....
gorgeous views & rooms. Food was gorgeous shame the pool was so cold but that’s because it’s March what do you expect! they have a fab indoor pool and an AMAZING spa you have to go to!! Had 2 massages they were lush! I would say for sure the staff are some of the nicest I’ve ever experienced- normally hotel staff can be friendly but quite cold? Not these guys.. SO friendly so sweet always having a laugh they are truly a credit to this hotel!! If you go to Limassol there is simply no better hotel. Thankyou to everyone at the royal appolonia for making our stay so special xx
I always chose the Royal Apollonia in Cyprus as all the staff are all friendly and go that extra mile with all the customers, this was my 6 trip to the horel and i had the same room which is good, and as always all the staff made me feel welcome from when i arrived and up until i left, it was good to see all the bar staff again and new members of the team and also not forgetting the best restaurant staff. I can not say how much of a pleasure it is coming back to the hotel each year and seeing all the fantastic management who i have become friends with
We recently stayed for 4 nights in an ocean view room with balcony. As per previous reviews the hotel itself is beautiful, the location around it not so much.
The staff are very friendly and on arrival the glasses of fizz and chocolates are a nice touch...
The breakfast choice is fantastic and the setting wonderful, inside/outside available. We always chose outside.
We had hired a car on arrival at Larnaca airport (Sixt) and it’s an easy drive to the hotel (40 minutes) we had sat nav which was very helpful especially when we had a cloudy day and drove around the island.
We were on a bed and breakfast rate through BA holidays. Lots of people were all inclusive thru various tour operators.
Our first dinner experience was in the Japanese style restaurant. Sadly my food was cold and looked nothing like the dish I’d ordered, I had to ask for it to be heated up. At the time we didn’t get an apology from the restaurant. I think the staff were more embarrassed, it was surprising as we were the only two in the restaurant and after reading the reviews I was really looking forward to it. (I spoke to hotel management the next day and they apologised and were investigating, although we were on our way home by the time they responded ) It might have been a nice touch to give us a free drink or bill reduction whilst we were there. Anyway, for the rest of the trip we went to the buffet style restaurant which was great, lots of choice and the staff are always helpful/smiling. Overall we really enjoyed our short stay here and would recommend the hotel.
