I would like to express my deepest and most sincere gratitude for an absolutely wonderful and unforgettable stay at Aktea Beach Club in Cyprus.

First and foremost, a very special and heartfelt thank you to Melpo, the Reception Manager, for her exceptional, dedicated, kind, and professional service. From the very first moment, we received the warmest welcome, and Melpo went above and beyond to make sure that every little detail of our stay was taken care of. Her kindness, patience, warmth, and genuine care made us feel truly welcomed and looked after. She is truly an incredible person and a wonderful representative of your hotel.

A very big thank you as well to Flori from Reception, for her kindness, helpfulness, and always pleasant attitude.

A special thank you to Nela from the Entertainment Team, for making our time at the hotel so much fun and enjoyable, especially for our children. Her energy, warmth, and dedication added so much to our experience and created wonderful memories for our family.

We would also like to thank the lovely ladies at the hotel supermarket, Vivian and Anna, for their friendly service, kindness, and warm smiles.

Aktea Beach Club is truly a wonderful hotel, and we highly recommend it. You created an atmosphere where we could completely switch off, forget about everything, and simply enjoy our time together as a family.

On August 1, shortly after midnight, we arrived at the hotel with a valid reservation. The night receptionist, John, asked for our passports. We expected the usual procedure: scan them, make a copy, or enter the details into the system and return them immediately. Instead, he informed us that our passports would be kept at reception until the following morning because he didn’t have access to the hotel system overnight.

We politely explained that we were not comfortable leaving our passports overnight and suggested several reasonable alternatives, including making copies, writing down our details, or completing the registration in the morning. He refused every option and simply told us that if we didn’t leave our passports, we could find another hotel.

When I asked under what legal authority they could keep our passports overnight, he couldn’t provide any explanation, legal basis, or written hotel policy. He also refused to call the manager, saying he was asleep and that he didn’t want to wake him.

The situation quickly became hostile. He said he didn’t know how to “get rid of us,” and when I asked to read the documents we were being asked to sign, he literally pulled them away and asked, “You now want to start the same sh*t with this?” This is completely unacceptable language for anyone working in hospitality.

The final straw came when I suggested exchanging IDs instead—he could keep my passport only if I kept his ID overnight. He then threatened to tear up our passports if I didn’t return his ID exactly at 7:00 a.m. At that point, we no longer felt safe leaving our passports—or staying at the hotel.

We were left with no choice but to book another hotel.

In all my years of traveling, I have never experienced such unprofessional, aggressive, and intimidating behavior from hotel staff. Whether this reflects one employee or the hotel’s policy, I sincerely hope management investigates this incident, because no guest should ever be treated this way.
