Could be so much better.

Review by Ross T Telford

I notice the last 2 reviews are not too good. We booked as all the reviews at the time were really good. The truth is this easy, the last 2 reviews are correct...

We booked with First Choice this means you go straight onto the A/I plus gold band. Honestly not worth the plastic it's made from. I see a few mentions of staff who are not too pleasant. There are dozens, it could just be that's their way. It could be the result of working in an A?I hotel for so long. My wife wants to specifically mention a few people she spoke to and got along with. Pares is a very happy person and chatty. Get Katrina to open up, she's from Northern Ireland and can be very friendly. We liked to sit in Monica's station in the restaurant. Looks mean but she was very efficient. Kosta & Kosta in the bar are good lads. The highlight of the night was Victoria and the kids disco. Apart from the Bulgarian couple who sang one night, the entertainment was shocking. Even when there was nothing on they played rubbish music, could easily have played stuff to dance too. Receptionists to a person were not nice. How these people have customer service jobs is anybody's guess? All inclusive premium did not get you every drink in the bar. For instanceKeo beer, pay for it. At least half the drinks on the menu are not available and even less for normal A/I Here is the premium list. 1 Safe deposit box. Okay this saves you 2 euros a night, it is a key you have to carry with you everywhere. 2, Coffee making facilities. We arrived to find 2 tea bags, 2 green tea, 2 lemon tea & 2 coffee sachets. The ingredients were never topped up in 2 weeks, but the kettle was there so the claim of coffee making facilities is not a lie. 3 Bathrobe and slippers. They were there but never used them. 4 Stocked mini bar on arrival. One bottle of water, 2 small cans of beer, 2 small orange juice, 1 pepsi, 1 seven up. Again never topped up. 5 Bottle of wine and fruit on arrival? Rancid cheap Spanish wine and a plate with some random fruit 6 .Imported branded drinks, this is correct. 7, Bottled wine with meals? Nobody offered us that 8.Ice cream?, little cheap tubs. 9, Levels beach bar, yes they will give you a drink. I'm going to stop going through the list as it was rubbish. Even the free meal at the seafood restaurant has a 30e limit per person, 25e for italian (Which is not a restaurant as such) The seafood was very good. Food in the dining room was quite acceptable. Done to a theme each night and could be much better. You have to use what are single use gloves to go to the buffet, if you want to go back they allow you to re-use them, how pointless is this? Remember this, although classed as Ayia Napa it is 4 to 5 kilometres from Ayia centre. The swimming pools are nice, the beach is lovely but needs free sunloungers. The cleaner in our room did a very good job. This hotel with a good kick up the backside, could be really good. As it stands it is, at most, average, probably below. Staff you have to remember that people who come there have spent a lot of money, probably saved hard for that holiday. To come and see you lot scowling at them, take a good look at yourselves and consider a career elsewhere.

Don’t waste your money! Not all inclusive

Review by nicholzara Leeds, United Kingdom

I got married here and the day was amazing, Suzanne the wedding planner is fab and she goes above and beyond for you. If it wasn’t for her this hotel would of got no stars. There’s a charge for absolutely everything!!! It’s the most basic all inclusive hotel I’ve ever been to and I’ve been to loads. You get breakfast, lunch, dinner and house drinks...

That’s it! The house drinks are awful! The rosé looks like red wine and is vile, the white wine tastes like turps and the soft drinks are of a very poor quality. If you’d like a decent glass of wine or any decent beverage you have to pay. Even with orange juice on a morning. Orange cordial is free but if you want fresh you have to pay. We had already upgraded to all inclusive plus which was a waste of money because besides a dressing gown, slippers that would be too big for the BFG, a kettle and mini bar which was only stocked once, the charge for AIP isn’t justified. You get that as standard at other all inclusive hotels. With the AIP package you are meant to be able to get some international brand drinks but we got none and when asked for others was told we had to pay. At meal times you can have large bottles of water but if you go to the beach bar you have to pay for it. What all inclusive hotel charges for a bottle of water. You have to pay for sun loungers on the beach. Fair enough the Bali beds but charging your customers for bog standard loungers is ridiculous. You have to pay for the snack bar so don’t expect to get snacks between meals and there’s 3 cocktails included in the AI. The rest you have to pay for. There’s no money changing facilities at reception but there is a cash machine on-site. Food was ok, always found something and it was all fresh. A la cartes are a joke, with the AIP your meant to get 1 visit to each of them included. This didn’t happen. You get an allowance per person and anything over that you have to pay for. Avoid the spa! The lady with the black hair who works there is a con woman. Charged us to use the steam room which is meant to be included with this non existent AIP package. When we questioned her and actually showed her the paper work you get given from reception she said it’s old and has been chargeable for 2 years. We paid but something didn’t seem right so we went back to question it again. The spa manager was there this time who was lovely, apologised and gave us our money back as it was included. The other lady who charged us pretended she didn’t understand and it was a mistake. Very sneaky! The staff……where do I start!!!! The good Katrina and Paris from the cocktail bar, absolutely brilliant people. So kind and friendly, always said hi and made the effort to have a chat. Our room cleaner, she was amazing, spoke very little English but always tried. She loved our children and always made a fuss of them. The guy on the beach, so friendly and helpful. Suzanne my wedding planner, unreal from the start and the guys serving drinks at my wedding. Really lovely people who made such an effort but that’s it. I’ve never been to a place with as many rude, ignorant and miserable staff. My children who are 5 and 7 could teach them a lot about manners and kindness. You could talk to someone and they’d blank you, ask for a drink and there’s no interaction at all you just get your drink put on the bar. The reception staff are just awful, so rude, unapproachable and aggressive. Very very unprofessional and not what you want when you’ve had a long day travelling. You expect to be met with at least a smile but here they all look like they’re sucking sour lemons! Makes no sense at all. If I could do it again I’d have my wedding there because the day was amazing from start to finish but stay elsewhere. It costs nothing to be polite and this hotel struggles with the basics. I gave the manager my customer service form directly and he wasn’t interested at all. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone. This hotel claims to be a “boutique” hotel but in my opinion it’s far from it. Food 4/5 Staff 0/5 Cleanliness 5/5

Stingiest Hotel I ever stayed

Review by sako40 Kuwait

I guess I paid much more than what it worth, I dont know it was hotels problem or travel agent being missinformative, but this hotel should be downgraded for 3 starts for the service they provide, you have to PAY for EVERYTHING let me explain:

  1. You have to pay for safe box! (2 euros per night).
  2. Water provided only upon arrival! (Taking in mind they are beach hotel). 3...

No mini bar ! 4. No Tissue Box provided! 5. No coffee /tea and hot water kattel provided! And when I 1st expressed my disappointment to the hotel, they told me refer to the agent you've booked from, they supposedly to inform you, instead of making up for the customer in any way possible! So disappointing!!! It wasn't the stay I was expecting for after my 2 years of waiting for vacation due to pandemic. The staff and hotel management should know that visitors are coming for vacation and not to serve military service! Location wise, it was far 10 minutes by car from the centeral €10 for each way by taxi. The only beautiful thig was the beach, Makronissos beach is the most beautiful beach I have seen, I really enjoyed the beach. Also and to be fair, breakfast was good and specially the cheif there were helpful enough in providing me with gluten free breads every morning. Room cleaners were also helpful and always smiling too.
