Protaras

Constantinos the Great Beach Hotel exudes a real sense of style. Its beautiful design is key to that – the hotel is light, airy and modern. From its superbly equipped gym to its glittering swimming pools, every facility is a delight. Looking out from the upper levels over its beautiful, pillared foyer, out over the immaculately presented heart of the hotel, you'll fully appreciate its uniqueness and chic, contemporary style.

Protaras – one of the country's newest resorts and an increasingly popular one– is a stroll away. And Aiya Napa a few minutes by car. Protaras itself is a compact resort, boasting sandy beaches, and wonderful little tavernas and restaurants that are dotted about, just waiting to be discovered.

Experience five star luxury at one of the premier hotels in Cyprus:

Welcome to holiday heaven! It may sound like a grand claim, but Constantinos the Great Beach Hotel lives up to the hype.

Constantinos the Great Beach Hotel features a large outside freshwater pool, with extensive terraces – you can while away the days right here in perfect contentment. And if you fancy a change of scene, from here, you can wander down to the smooth sandy beach and take a dip in the enticing sea.

There are plenty of other facilities on offer to keep you amused. Why not enjoy a game of tennis, or even visit the on-site hairdresser for a whole new look? The comfortable air conditioned/heated twin or double rooms lead on to a furnished balcony, and provide all the amenities you'll want, including satellite TV, minibar, radio, telephone and hairdryer... and yes, you can select a stunning sea view room for a small supplement.

We'd also recommend taking your time over a meal in the restaurant. It's another wonderfully light, bright space, and perfectly conducive to relaxing. And if relaxation is what you're after, then you'll want to make full use of the sauna and steam treatment baths and massage room.

Stays at Constantinos the Great Beach Hotel are wonderfully indulgent affairs. In luxurious surroundings, with the best of food and facilities, you'll be treated to a five star experience – one you'll want to repeat.

Gym review as a non resident

This hotel allows non residents to use the gym. At €5 per day, it's well worth the money. The staff were friendly on approach...

Gym is well equipped with several treadmills, other cardio equipment, punchbag and free weights along with weight machines. Music is played which is current. Covid restrictions in place mean that water isn't on offer but you can take your own. If paying by cash you can pay at the gym reception, otherwise you need to pay at main hotel reception if paying by card. I would definitely recommend using this facility.

3rd time lucky!!

Review by Cynonpuss Aberdare, United Kingdom

After 2 covid cancelations we finally got here for my friends granddaughters wedding where I was a guest The hotel is literally on the beach. Very impressive building, inside very reminiscent of a cruise ship with mezzanines and ornate staircases. Very impressed with the uniformed Porter taking bags to the room ! ( usual holidays are apartment based ) Standard room with lovely side view of the sea, comfy beds and essential fridge! Bath robes and slippers, good range of bath products and crisp white towels provided...

I did however have to buy a shower cap... usually standard in hotels of this calibre TV useless as usual .. no English-speaking channels except world news I would have liked a bedside lamp which should have been standard.. I like to read at night but my friend does not .. she bought an eye mask. No balcony light either. We were half board basis .. breakfasts were good and plenty of choice covering all tastes. Evening meals were a bit hit or miss. We like to eat early but even as first in the hot food was often just warm .. a microwave would have been welcome. Meats of all description in sauces to match theme nights Chinese etc and carvery meat, and delicious fish which I had most nights as I only eat plain cooked chicken. Strange vegetables some nights which were not always fully cooked .. brocoli in orange sauce? Okra ?? Desserts instant whip stuff Greek baklava etc and fresh fruit. No icecream or sauces We did not use the snack bar by the pool We were here for a wedding, chaos for a couple of days for the bride and groom but the ceremony was beautiful with a stunning backdrop and a well catered reception ❤️ Leisure time we spent by the pool.. not in it as it was absolutely freezing as was the indoor pool by the spa area. Pool and beach towels provided ..collected from Adele... an English lady who runs the gym and spa. Adele has lived in the area for 4 years. A lovely lady who enjoyed a chat and was very knowledgeable about the area, where to go etc.. and was my go to if I needed advice. Although excellent at her spa duties she would be a great asset on reception or as a location advisor. ( if your reading this Adele.. I forgot to say I made it to the little church !) It was Greek Easter weekend when we were there .. but there was no celebrations, decorations or any mention shared with guests which I found strange as Easter is a big event. There was no evening entertainment except for a kiddy disco .. again for a high end hotel a bit disappointing. The main strip was literally minutes away with bars, shops etc as a change from sitting in a vast quiet lounge area. All in all a lovely hotel but I would not rate it a 5*

All in all a lovely hotel, I wouldn't say 5* .. maybe 4*

Lovely Relaxing Break

Review by kasSouthWales South Wales, United Kingdom

I had booked our break back in October 2021, a few days before we were due to travel we were informed our chosen hotel was not available and were offered either a refund or a change to The Constantinos, looking at the pictures we accepted the change. I then looked at reviews and felt a bit worried. But we decided to go and be open minded, and we were pleasantly surprised. On arrival upgraded to sea view which also overlooked the pool...

The room was clean, a bit tired, but we weren't spending the week in the room! Breakfast, plenty of choice, I enjoy omelette so that is my normal go to, and I couldn't fault them. Hubby enjoyed the cooked breakfast, Lunch - lovely, well presented, hot and tasty. Dinner was a bit hit and miss, but catering for many more than lunch time as not everyone is All inclusive. We ate out one evening as it was hubby's birthday and on recommendation used the Taverna just outside the hotel, food was lovely and very reasonably priced. Entertainment, people need to remember that the season for this area of Cyprus doesn't really start till after Easter which is a week after ours, but Hubby enjoyed his daily game of Boulle with Stan. We spent our evenings talking to other guests and we also take travel games with us. Rooms were made up everyday, staff constantly seen cleaning and doing there best. Bottled water as someone else has said is not provided, but water is available in all bar areas and they will give you water and drinks in plastic cups to take to your room, so we didn't see it as a problem. Just before we left we had a chat with a manager, voiced the concerns that we had had prior to arrival and how pleasantly surprised we were on arrival and facilities. We mentioned about the evening meal not being as good and the reviews that I had read, to be informed that he and a couple of others had been bought in to rectify issues that they had been made aware off, so believe me the company are concerned about guest experience and relations. We wouldn't hesitate to return, it couldn't be that bad as 3 weddings took place while we were there and another couple getting married just after we left. Staff very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The biggest issue for us and I don't dislike children, is that the families being put up by their company should be told to have more control over their children charging around in the evenings.

5 STAR EXPERIENCE- STAY AWAY !!

Review by RossiJo Hereford, United Kingdom

I would not rate this as a 5 star hotel, i would more rate this as a 3 start hotel.

The hotel itself is a fantastic building with a good family size room in which we stayed in.

Room- i cannot fault the size of the family room and the facilities in the room. What let the room down was the lack of service from the maids. Bed sheets were stained and had not been changed by the maids until we had this requested...

Housekeeping was sent to our room to fix this, but upon further inspection the bottom sheet was still not changed. Following a further request and having to show the maid this was then changed. Cleanliness of the room seem to not apply to the housekeeping staff: the bathroom mirror and tap/sink was filthy and was not cleaned daily (easily wiped down), sweeping of the room was not undertaken (some debris was under a chair and this was not swept one once during our stay, toilet roll- this had ran out and wasnt replaced until this was requested at reception, shower gels/shower wash- nothing was replaced (luckily we took our own to use). Lots of dust under the bed, again beds not moved and swept/cleaned. Balcony doors were dirty and looked like they had tried to clean them with a dirty cloth.

Entertainment- website does state daytime and evening entertainment, however, there was no entertainment at all. This was non-existent. If you have young children i would suggest not staying at this hotel.

Swimming pool- Swimming pool was of a good size with plenty of sunbeds to laze during the day. Swimming pool was clean and cleaned daily however it was just so cold that children could not swim/play in it during the day.

Food/Beverages- Website states two a la carte restaurants, these were not found. Food for me personally was average but had a reasonable selection with different themes each night. The buffet style breakfast and lunch was fine, but again the same each day which was expected. Day time snacks consisted of burgers, toasties and chips. Selection of ice creams as displayed on the website was just one ice cream. Local beverages was included in the all inclusive, however at sister hotels all inclusive included premium beverages which surprised me considering this a 5 star hotel. No bottled water was free within all inclusive (previous 3 star hotels i have stayed in bottle water had been free).

Staff- All staff were fantastic, nice and pleasant, the housekeeping staff were the complete opposite.

Air Con- non existent in the hotel!!!!

The hotel star rating needs to be reviewed, and in my honest opinion i would not rate this hotel more than a 3 star.

Personally for myself, i would not return to this hotel in future.
