The hotel was nice and great location. There is a very steep hill to get down to the sea and if you’re not very mobile or you have very young children this is not the hotel for you. The breakfast and lunch were ok(as expected on all inclusive) dinner was great and served in the upstairs restaurant which was great! Pool area was good, didn’t have any lunch snacks which you usually get on an all inclusive...
The entertainment was pretty non existent, the entertainment staff were mostly lounging around near the beach bar area or snorkelling. There was no group activities, nothing for the young kids in the day and absolutely nothing in the evening ( my children are teenagers so not a problem for me) but felt sorry for those with younger ones! The adults entertainment in the evening was terrible, mostly bingo and all felt unorganised and half hearted. In general I think this is a nice hotel and a great location but maybe suited to people that want a quiet holiday. I wouldn’t stay at this hotel again but would definitely go back to coral bay!
We went on a short getaway with friends at the end of Nov 2019 and found the hotel very nice. The staff were exceptional and could not do enough for us. We found the food very good and plentiful...
Our room was very spacious with fantastic views across the bay. The sunsets were something else, wow. Breakfast, lunch and dinner next day were excellent, great selection, all the food was hot and again staff and waiters were great. Then it went down hill for the next 3 days. There was a convention for approx 500 people, so all of the non convention guests were moved into a smaller restaurant, and have to say the staff were excellent yet again, but the quality of food not only dropped but was mostly just warm and the selection dropped. From about 2100 to 0100 the noise from the outside convention site just kept everyone awake, our friends phoned down to reception and they said there was numourous complaints had been had. But nothing was done for 2 nights, we think the local police had been informed as a couple of officers arrived on the last evening which was going to be a last night party outside 2100 to 0300 and after complaining again a manager said the party had been moved inside and luckily the noise was not heard from our rooms. After speaking to other guests we all thought we were brushed aside for the convension. If we were told about the convention we would have booked earlier or later. We would go back to the hotel definitely but ensure there were no conventions on at the time
Myself and a friend stayed at Ascos for 7 nights at the end of October. On arrival the hotel was well presented and the rooms were clean and spacious. Unfortunately there are a lack of plug sockets in the room with only one next to the beds and one under the dressing table...
We were half board and chose to eat lunch rather than dinner at the hotel most days as the food was lacking in range and flavour. As a vegetarian I struggled to find much to eat apart from salad, many of which contained meat as well. Luckily the main strip of coral bay is only a 2 minute walk up the road and has a fantastic range of restaurants so we didn’t go hungry. We found the extra charges for various things at the hotel (Even for all inclusive customers) to be quite cheeky- extra charges for simple things like fresh fruit juice or an iron, more shockingly extra charges for WiFi. The most shocking part about our stay was the hotels response (or lack of) to an incident that happened to my friend and I whilst at the hotel. The incident involved a man in the hotel building (presumably Cypriot as he had a foreign accent) fully naked, exposing himself to the pair of us whilst masturbating. He then made a rude comment to us. We immediately reported this to reception as we were worried who else he might do this to considering there were children staying at the hotel and a child playing on the grass within a 10 metre vicinity of where the incident took place. We were met with an extremely blasé response from staff who told us that this was an ongoing issue and that they had had 5 reports of this in the last month (and that it had normally involved girls younger than ourselves). They told us that they had contacted police but there was nothing they could do as they hadn’t caught him in the act. They stated that they believed it to be a local that was entering the hotel and exposing himself to guests, I questioned that if this was the case then why they had not made the hotel buildings more secure or put up cctv cameras. This seemed to be brushed off and instead of any real action being taken we were simply given the number for reception and told to ring them if we see the man again. It felt as though the incident, which we believed to be very serious, was not taken at all serious which is again worrying when there are young girls and children staying at the hotel.
For the most part the hotel is clean and in a good location however, I would seriously think twice about staying here again considering the incident that took place whilst we were there and the lack of any real action following it. I would definitely avoid if bringing children or teenagers due to the incident not being taken seriously, giving this man free rein to expose himself to whoever he wants.
