- Lido Corfu Sun Hotel
This hotel is located towards the south of the island, in the famous tourist area of Benitses, 1.5 kms from the centre. It enjoys a quiet setting near the main road, with easy access to the beach and public transport links, which are just 50 m away. It is 15 kms from Corfu Town and 14 kms from Corfu International Airport. Renovated in 2009, this family-friendly resort hotel comprises a total of 33 rooms. Facilities on offer to guests at this air-conditioned establishment are adequate to ensure the comfortable stay of all its guests. The very quiet standard rooms are clean and offer sea or mountain views. They are equipped with in-room amenities, which include a satellite TV and a balcony or terrace. This hotel features an outdoor, heated swimming pool and in addition, the hotel puts on entertainment programmes for adults and children.
Head down to the water and enjoy a day at the private beach, or take advantage of other recreational amenities including a fitness centre and a seasonal outdoor pool. This hotel also features complimentary wireless Internet access, a television in a common area and tour/ticket assistance.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
I will not repeat the negative comments of my predecessors found on web site, because most of the negative reviews that are worth reading were confirmed on site. The hotel is located close to very busy road, without a sidewalk and possibility of walking in the near area. Exit from the hotel directly to the traffic street, which creates a risk when walking to a nearby village or to the hotel beach. Noise coming from the street makes it very difficult to rest. Room. The first feeling after entering the room was the smell of mold and fungus from the air conditioning, which had to be turned off during all period of stay. See attached photo of the mold on the wall and under the bed. Dirt and dust presence on the bed area. The bathroom does not have ventilation. Fungus/mold in the shower cabin and in the joints between the tiles. We had to clean ourselves mold/ fungus in the bathroom. Unpleasant smell from the bathroom sewer grate. Access to the beach leads through above mentioned street, next to containers. The beach is a wooden pier surrounded by boulders and a piece of a rocky beach polluted with plants thrown up by the sea. Only a dispenser with chilled water from the network is available on the beach. No service on the beach present. The beach is very small, neglected with rolling deck chairs/umbrellas. Temporarily and provisionally repaired corroded barrier (danger) to the descent into the sea. Nails protruding from the platform that could create a risk of personal injury. Unfortunately, the hotel manager did not find time to talk. I confirm positive opinions reviews about the food (without much choice). However, I will strongly advise to other to not stay in your hotel.

We had a fantastic experience at Lidos Corfu. Unfortunately, our flight was cancelled, which left us in a difficult situation, but the manager, Makis, was incredibly kind and understanding. He allowed us to stay longer at the hotel without charging us any extra, which we were extremely grateful for.
The hotel itself was also exceptionally clean, and it was clear that a lot of care is taken to maintain it to a high standard.
A big thank you to Makis and all the staff for their kindness and hospitality during a stressful situation. We really appreciate everything you did for us and would highly recommend Lidos Corfu!
Unfortunately our stay was not as expected. The hotel description is somewhat misleading. It is a 3 star at best.
The hotel is very quiet, ideal for the older clientele. There is no nightlife. There are a number of stairs. The private beach is a 10 minute walk along a very busy main road with no footpaths. There is a steep slope down to the beach which in fact is a wooden deck with sunbeds and umbrellas. To get into the sea is down a ladder. You will need sea shoes as it is very rocky.
The tavernas and shops are a 30 minute walk into Benitses, again along the busy road. The hotel does offer a free shuttle bus into the town but it is an old 7 seater which leaves at 10 am and picks you up at 1pm. Then again at 8pm and picks you up at 10.30pm. There is the No 6 local bus service which runs to Benitses to Corfu Town. Approx 30 minute journey. Nice day out but very busy.
The buffet restaurant is open for 2 hours at a time, breakfast until 10am, lunch until 2pm and dinner until 9pm. Outside of these times there are no snacks. Ice creams are not in the all inclusive package. The food is average. It’s self service at every sitting. Breakfast is the usual cereal, fruits or cooked breakfast. Most nights dinner is a repeat of lunch, with food tasting bland and lukewarm. Drinks are from machines including the wine. There is a restaurant five minutes walk up the road which is very nice. Bit pricey but worth it just to have some nice food and drink.
There is a pool bar but no indoor bar. So drinks are served in plastic cups and you have to sit around the pool all night. There is also no daytime/nightime entertainment!
Rooms are clean enough but trying to watch the TV gives you a sore neck as it is high on the wall and the bed has a high wooden headboard which is uncomfortable to lean on. The balconies have a table and chairs but are not private as there is no screening between balconies.
I’ve tried to give an honest review but I honestly don’t know who wrote the five star reviews. I suppose we all look for different things in a holiday!
Absolutely wonderful stay. The location, staff and private beach were second to none. We arrived late to receive food in the room. They accommodated us with an extra bed at very short notice. The entertainment was very good and not expected. The shuttle Into Benitses was great. There was even a beautiful chapel in the grounds. The food was varied and always fresh and topped up. Great salad selection with olives and feta. Immaculately clean with water in the room each day. Cannot recommend enough. Sad to leave. We will definitely return.
