Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
Beautiful hotel, fantastic service, we got the standard room with a huge balcony and no plunge pool as we prefer the beach. Room fantastic great facilities has a free safe, coffee machine,kettle with a good selection of glasses and coffee cups. Bathroom design is lovely but didn't like having a clear glass door to the shower due to lack of privacy. Great touches like the towels for the beach and pool are huge comfy and they bring you a carton of water and glasses when you get there. The sunbeds on the beach are the most comfortable I have ever used and the staff in all departments are absolutely fantastic.
Location:
We stayed in the lowest tier of room (the junior suite) on a B&B basis. Lots of good restaurants in the area.
This meant we did not have a plunge pool but we did have a nice upstairs balcony area (in the shade in the afternoon).
The Room:
The room was very comfortable. Good bed, quiet and effective AC, turn down service. Good bathroom facilities. There were hair straighteners available (not mentioned on the hotel website). Cleaning was good and often was completed by early afternoon. We did have some noise pollution from a neighbouring hotel but this did stop by 2330.
The beach is the most sandy in the resort.
The Beach:
The beach is probably one of the most sandy in the area. Whilst other folks can stroll across the beach area, they cannot use the bed-chairs, which are there for the hotel guests. Guests were provided with free water and extra towels whilst on the chairs. Access to the sea is a little pebbly, but Ionian sea was warm and calm and was a joy to swim in.
The Pool:
The pool was fairly empty when we used it (typically 4pm daily). A nice long pool, good for swimming and not too deep. One of the best features of the hotel
Breakfast:
The breakfast was a little disappointing based on the many resorts we have stayed in of similar quality. Coffee was served by cup and it was difficult to attract attention to get a second cup made. The food selection was OK but did not vary particularly day by day. We totally understand that vast buffet-style breakfast selections can lead to a lot of wastage, but this could be addressed by providing more items on the menu e.g. fish, more cut up fruit, meats etc. Hence the 5 stars becomes 4.5!!
All in all, a great place to stay - and in a nice relaxing resort too.
Lovely 2 bed suite. Comfy bed. Clean and beautiful grounds. Beach area and beach bar very relaxing. Great cocktails. Pool perfect size to do your lengths. Breakfast had lots of choice. Great à la carte to choose from aswell as helping yourself at the buffet area. Only negative would be the size of the gym as once 3 plus people in there felt too crowded in my opinion. Great number of restaurants in walking distance.
From start to finish this hotel was wonderful. We were warmly greeted and the guy that took us to our room was very friendly and helpful. We stayed in an executive suite with private pool and it was everything we hoped it would be. The room was spotless and the pool was a lot bigger than I had imagined-although it was freezing! The room had everything we needed and the air con was great. We only had breakfast here but the choices were excellent and quality was five star. Staff were all friendly. The beach bar had great food which we had a couple of days but then ventured out to some local restaurants which were all good. The beach was well managed and I liked the added touch of the water that was provided. The sea was a lovely temperature too. The sun beds were the most comfortable beds we had ever sat on. There’s nothing negative I can say and would highly recommend.
It was our first stay at Olivar. We missed it last year, so this year it had to be.
We arrived early, around 10 AM. Check-in wasn’t possible yet, but they made every effort to make us feel welcomed. They offered us breakfast and let us know that our room would be ready at 1 PM, even though the official check-in time is at 3 PM. At 1 PM, we were in our room. We immediately felt the care and the great hospitality they offer.
We stayed in a Junior Suite with a Private Pool and overall, we were very pleased with the room in every aspect.
Breakfast has a fantastic buffet with a wide selection including a few traditional Greek options and some delicious à la carte choices as well. After the third day, they already knew our “routine” and anticipated our choices, which I personally appreciated a lot.
The whole team is amazing — from reception to the beach and bar staff, breakfast team, housekeeping, even the pool cleaning guy was so nice. Everyone was super attentive, ready to help and genuinely focused on making everything smooth and seamless for you.
The attention to detail in general is amazing.
The cleanliness throughout the hotel is maintained to a high standard, something we noticed and truly appreciated.
The spa is also great — professional personnel and it has a very relaxing and cozy atmosphere.
The location is wonderful and so well maintained in every aspect. With so many plants and so much vegetation around, it’s not easy to keep everything looking so beautiful and well cared for, we really appreciated the effort that goes into it.
Everything put together makes this place unique. It has a special feeling, something that is difficult to explain but there is definitely something special.
We had dinner once at the Flya Restaurant… the team is super attentive. The food was great as well. One small minus: we were still eating our starter when the main course was served. It felt a little bit awkward and unexpected for this standard, although it didn’t bother us too much. A little more attention to the timing would improve the overall experience.
It’s rare to leave a place feeling that every little detail, every interaction and every person contributed to the experience.
We will definitely be back. Olivar has that special something that stays with you even after you leave — and for me, that says it all.
