- Vasia Ormos Hotel

The hotel enjoys an ideal location, set in extensive grounds between the blue sea and the fertile hills, in the settlement of Ormos in the northern part of the city. It faces a pleasant bay, offering guests a spectacular view of Aghios Nikolaos, with easy access to the beach, shops and taverns. It lies only 10-15 minutes' walk from the city centre and only some 200 m from the nearest bus stop. The Knossos Minoan Palace, Lassithi Plateau and the Heraklion Archaeological Museum are all some 70 km away. It is also 70 km to Heraklion Airport
This air-conditioned beach apartment hotel features a 24-hour reception and 24-hour check-in/check out service, a hotel safe and a currency exchange facility, a TV room, a breakfast room and car parking facilities. The 2-storey buildings are set at a distance of approximately 30 m from each other and comprise a total of 85 rooms. Access to rooms on the ground floor is via 4-5 steps. Rooms on the 1st floor may be reached by stairs only as there is no lift access.
The spacious rooms are tastefully designed in local style, and most come with built-in beds, whereas some have bedsteads. The twin-bedded rooms are on one double built-in base with two separate mattresses and are made up as two separate beds. All rooms feature a private bathroom with a shower or bathtub and a toilet. The rooms are also equipped with a telephone, a hairdryer, a radio, a mini fridge, a safe (extra charge payable on-site), air conditioning (extra charge payable on-site) and a balcony or a veranda with a view of the sea, garden, mountain or swimming pool.
The hotel features an outdoor freshwater swimming pool with parasols and a poolside snackbar. Hersonissos Golf Course is only a 30-minute drive away.
Guests may select their breakfast from a lavish buffet.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
What a fabulous stay in this wonderful hotel. Set in a beautiful location with stunning views. The rooms were clean, light and the air con worked perfectly. The staff go above and beyond to make your stay relaxing and are always on hand if needed. We were welcomed (after midnight) with a meal of cheese and ham and a plate of fruit and a bottle of wine were waiting in our room. The two pools were lovely and it was so easy to get a sun bed. A very quiet, peaceful hotel with supermarkets and restaurants close by. Superb buffet breakfast each morning and a lovely food and drinks menu in the snack bar. Will definitely be back! A big thank you to all the staff especially Sofia, Cha and Shawn.
This was our first visit to this wonderful hotel. It is located in the small but stunning, St Nicolas Bay, which hosts a number of small, tethered boats that bob up and down on the turquoise water. The Bay is lit at night, and Vasia Ormos Hotel rests on the bay looking out towards Agios Nikolaos. The view from the hotel and especially the restaurant during breakfast, and evening meal, is beautiful as it looks over the Bay to Agios Nikolaos. The walk into Aghios Nikolaos is about 25mins - pavement, safe and well lit. There are supermarkets nearby for supplies. Supermarket Kriti Fragkiadakis Giorgos has everything (turn right). We hired a car and visited a different beach daily, combined with mountain villages. Well, now to the hotel and team. Nico and all of his team are a bunch of incredible people. Really beautiful hearted and where customer service is at the forefront. From Nico himself, who is always front of house and present, alongside Maria (with beautiful curly hair) to the waitresses - Marianna, Maria, Sophia and the Filipino ladies. You are treated like one of the family and they will help with anything. The receptionist was also lovely and gave us a map with ideas of where to visit. But, possibly one of the most talented member of the team in Manos, who leads the kitchen team. His culinary skills are something else. He is passionate and I have never met someone who cares so much about whether you are enjoying your meal. He is an asset to Vasia Ormos and I do hope that they recognise his capability because he can do wonders for the brand. I am a diabetic and so is Manos, and he sat and chatted to me one evening, and even said if there was anything I would like, just to ask. We really enjoyed the wide range on offer at the breakfast buffet, catering for all tastes and diets. Cereals, pastries, meats, cheeses, breads, cakes, bacon, eggs, beans, toast...the list goes on. The biggest surprise was the evening meal - it is tradition Cretan cuisine with a choice of breads, two salads, three appetisers and a choice out of four main courses and a dessert. When I say we couldn't move afterwards, I mean it! The choices were always different and delicious. Regarding the inside and outside of the hotel, it is spotless and if you take time to stop and look, it is beautifully laid out. The cleaning is exceptional and the room very comfortable with great beds, air con and hot water. Kristina also deserves a big pat on the back as she is an exceptional cleaner. They had some nice touches too - a bottle of wine, a welcome letter, slippers, changes of towels including beach towels daily etc, an expresso machine, fridge with water to start you off, shower gels etc. There are plenty of sunbeds scattered around the pool areas and you don't need to race to put your towels down, because many people hire cars and after breakfast go out touring the island. I really could go on and on. If you want a peaceful holiday then Vasia Ormos is the perfect hotel. Thank you Nico and everyone. We loved the whole holiday and I hope that we will be back. Keep on keeping on. Metin & Jo
Second visit to this wonderful hotel, located in the peaceful and picturesque St Nicolas Bay. Nico and all of his team are incredible, you are treated like family , nothing is to much trouble. The hotel is spotless in all areas inside and out. The gardens are beautifully maintained. There are plenty of sunbeds scattered around the immaculate pool areas. We thoroughly enjoyed the wide range on offer at the breakfast buffet, catering for all tastes and diets. The evening meal is tradition Cretian cuisine made up of a bread basket, two salads, three appetisers a choice out of four main courses and desert. The gentle walk into Aghios nikolaos is about 20-25mins. There are local tavernas and a supermarket stocking anything and everything you could ever need within 10 minutes from the hotel. Vasio Ormous is the perfect hotel for a peaceful relaxing holiday. Thank you Nico and everyone ❤️
Stayed at Vasia Ormos Hotel for 6 nights
Very friendly staff, adult only hotel. No problem sitting around the pool, plant of sun beds available.
Plenty on offer for breakfast and a good snackbar between the 2 pools
My sister and I stayed at this lovely hotel for 1 week from 30/06/26 to 07/07/26. We arrived in the early hours of the morning on the 01/07/26 and were met by a very helpful and friendly gentleman who checked us in then offered us a light meal and a drink before taking us to our room. (402) The room was much smaller than we expected for a superior double and I queried the size and location with him. He said that he would leave a message for the manager. The very next day we spoke to the manager Nikolas who is so nice and he arranged to move us to a larger room which still had a very good sea view. (220). Nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff. They were all very friendly and helpful. The buffet breakfast was lovely (thank you Cha) and rooms were cleaned by Christina to a very high standard. We ate lunch every day at the poolside bar and everyone was attentive and friendly.(Sophia and Mariana) The atmosphere was always happy and the view was superb. The hotel is located about half an hours walk from the town centre and although we walked in once we decided a taxi was the best option for us. We will definitely return to this hotel when we come back to Crete. It is so lovely and the staff and the beautiful well kept grounds make it the perfect choice for a nice relaxing holiday.
