Mirabello Bay Luxury Resort

Would not class this as a 5 star resort. Beautiful views and lovely hotel with some great facilities but a few things that let it down. One in particular was the unhelpful ness and rudeness of some of the front desk staff. The room we had I would not class as a family room with poor uncomfortable beds for our children to sleep on and very small space. The customer service at the front desk was not very friendly at times and rude in response when an issue occurred. To argue with the guests is not what you expect regardless if you or they were in the wrong. Miss communication on check out after requesting two shower rooms one for ourselves and one for our friends to which we had two separate bookings but only given one room for eight guests to be excepted to use. They did not resolve this situation nor apologise infact try to blame us as the guests. Mistakes happen but this was not an acceptable response. Disrespectful and rudeness to us was not appreciated. Understaffed at times so slow on service. Not enough seating in the main buffet restaurant nor in the evening down near the beach. Would suggest opening up the Bahia beach area for the evening as it was a beautiful set up and view but a wasted space.

We were nervous about coming to this hotel as the reviews are very mixed …

1. Hotel is beautiful - like its hands down 5 star setting. Rooms are clean, modern, and comfortable. We had a private pool and like some of the other reviews we ended up with what we think was the smallest one on the complex. Some are much bigger. Now lots of people complain about this but I think it’s jealousy - realistically you take a dip in it - you aren’t swimming lengths in any of them.
2. Food - we have stayed at lots of 5 star resorts and truly the food is plentiful and tasty. We thought the choice was excelllent, great salad bar, breads, olives, at least 3 choices of meats per eve, 2 fish, veggie options. Also maybe hotel have taken feedback as everything was labelled when we were there.

People complaining that there wasn’t anything for their kids to eat, how?? Pizza, chips, pasta with choice of sauces are on every day. There is then a kids station with rotation of chicken, fish fingers, meatballs, etc then fresh ham cheese. 3. À la Carte - we ate at Bahia grill for lunch which was nice enough, setting by the sea. We did Italian for dinner, everyone raved about this but we found it just very basic, then the Cretian for show night - brilliant experience. 4. That’s where it ends for food and we thought it was very poor that there was no where to get food other than the meal times. The snack bar is a self serve area that’s basically a million slices of cake and a few pizza slices. It’s not acceptable to pay what you pay and not be able to get food should you miss lunch etc. 5. Entertainment - it definitely needs some more wow for a 5 star, one of the main reasons we knocked it down. However it isn’t non existent as people make out. Latin night was one of the best shows we’ve seen in Europe and everyone was up dancing. The Cretian night mentioned below also an excellent show! Magician was good, probs more for the kids but still entertaining. Then they have a karaoke night, DJ night and some extravaganza. Again was okay, but for five star you’d expect 7 nights of good shows. 6. Kids club - girls running kids club were great, our little girl went and begged to go every day. Did a range of things from kids pool party, painting, board games, mocktail making etc. Mini disco is on every night 8-8.45 - thought this earlier time was great as lots of resorts it’s not on until 9ish and with two little ones this can be a lot of waiting around 7. Drinks are good, lots of cocktails to choose from. Wine is drinkable and beer isn’t watered down.

Other things to note… Hotel really needs to have the bar in splash area open, if you’ve got kids and you’re there all day you shouldn’t have to walk up and round a large ramp to get a drink.

It’s a very hilly resort; not suitable for people with mobility issues. They do use golf carts to take people to and from rooms in the village which my kids loved as it was like a ride. But there are lots of steps around.

Beach party on Sunday everyone raves about. It was a DJ playing songs 1-4, but let down for us. We thought it would go on longer and the staff would have had it feel like a beach party.

Our top tip - book the Cretian restaurant on Tuesday as it has a full on Cretian show in the area, was 10/10 experience. It’s also like a set mezze menu of Slouvaki etc.

Overall a lovely stay, great staff, pretty hotel just needs some tweaking on the round picture for the entertainment to really make it 5 star.
