Elounda Krini

Well placed Hotel about a 10 minute walk into the centre of Elounda. We were greeted warmly by the owner and another lady and shown to our room. Our room was quite basic but perfectly adequate and clean. We had a lovely sea view from our large balcony. Unfortunately, we had problems with the hot water and could not get a shower on the first night; we informed reception and they said because the water is heated by solar panels and it had rained, they changed it over to a manual system but throughout the week this did not make much difference and the temperature varied - mostly lukewarm although I’ll admit it did get hot but not until almost the end of our stay. The staff were very apologetic and this is not a reflection on them but I don’t think it was good enough not to have constant hot water - this is 2026 - not the dark ages. We were on a room-only basis so can’t comment on the meals. We walked into Elounda every day and dined there as there are numerous fabulous tavernas but found the hotel to be very quiet on our return every night, although in their defence all the action is in Elounda itself so people are naturally going to gravitate to that. But it was a little too quiet for us when we returned at night and we usually just sat on our balcony admiring the view. Our room was cleaned every day with fresh towels and bedding every day which we liked. The cleaning lady was lovely but she had no English which is perfectly understandable - our knowledge of the Greek language amounts to about four words 😉 But we said “Kalimera” to each other. The owner(s) are very kind and even loaned us an umbrella when we walked into Elounda in the pouring rain and kindly gave us a complimentary coffee when we were waiting to leave. Overall we had a pleasant stay, thank you.

Great hotel with very friendly staff who would do anything to help. The location of the hotel is great only a 20 minute walk to the main square but the walk is flat with good scenery. The breakfast was very tasty. The gluten free options in the evening were limited as it is a small hotel buffet. However I wouldn't hold this against the hotel as lots of the restaurants do gluten free options. All in all a great place with great people.

Our stay at Elounda Kirini was so much more than just a holiday. It was an experience filled with warmth, kindness and unforgettable people.

The staff are truly people with great hearts — kind, helpful, attentive and always smiling. From the very first moment, we felt genuinely welcomed and cared for. Their hospitality made us feel less like guests and more like friends.

A very special place in our hearts belongs to Biljana, the best guide we could have asked for on the island. She showed us Crete not only as a beautiful destination, but as a place full of tradition, soul and wonderful people. Thanks to her, we discovered the real Crete — the one you remember long after you return home.

And the olive oil we received from Biljana… ❤️ For us, it became the heart of this trip. Every time we use it at home, we will remember Crete, the people we met, the conversations, the laughter and the incredible warmth we experienced here.
