Stayed here as a couple in our 50s for 11 nights from 19/6. We arrived late at night and were warmly greeted by Michael, who offered us a welcome drink at the pool bar. We met the character that is Billy, while Michael’s son, the hard working Manos, took our cases to our room. We had booked a junior suite, which has a bedroom and a lounge area, with a single bed, table & chairs and sink, kettle, fridge & kitchen cupboards. There was a hairdryer stored in the wardrobe, but I’d brought my own so don’t know how good it was. Our bathroom had a proper shower cubicle & good shower. The rooms were very clean & we were lucky to have 2 balconies. Only thing missing was an airer. This is a family run hotel & the whole family & the rest of the team were so friendly & worked non stop. The friendly family lab was an added bonus - no cats to be seen! We don’t normally go half board in Greece but we booked this, thinking we’d maybe just have breakfast. Our first full day was a Saturday, which is bbq night. This was included in HB. A great night - the grilled food & salads were plentiful & tasty. Later on a duet played a good mix of songs. During the break Michael’s teenage daughter & her friends encouraged everyone to get up & do some Greek dancing. Lovely to see this tradition carried on with younger people. The next Saturday was similar & great fun. It helped create a friendly atmosphere between the guests. The food exceeded our expectations. Breakfast was the usual fayre, with a lovely lady cooking fried eggs to order. After the bbq night we decided to give the evening meals a go & ended up eating there several times as well as in the restaurants in town other nights. The lamb cutlets were a stand out meal. The menu for the week is put up outside the restaurant so you can decide if you want to eat there or not. The chefs work so hard & the starters are buffet style & varied. I just had the starters one night as they were more than enough. The wine is good & v reasonable. We tried the onsite snack bar a few times during the day, which was very good. I have slight mobility issues, but there’s a cut through to the town that takes only a few minutes to walk. Stalis itself is lovely with plenty of bars, restaurants & gift shops. Sweetworld is brilliant for lunch or ice cream for a break from the beach. There’s an Irish bar very near to the hotel, which has live music several nights a week. The beach is great, with plenty of beds on offer. Some bars offer free beds if u buy food & drink. We chose to pay for really comfy wooden beds for €15 for 2 a couple of times. The pool area at the hotel is lovely with really comfortable beds. Always beds available and the pool & snack bar are always open. There’s a very relaxed atmosphere in the day time. The pool has steps down, which was welcome. There’s a second pool at the other building. I’ve seen a few comments about Billy. He keeps the pool bar running from late afternoon til the last guest standing goes to bed. He can be loud but, if you don’t want to hang round on one of the bar stools with him, he is happy to serve you quickly & doesn’t harass you. Lovely man. Overall, we had a fabulous holiday. Filia was a great base & we will definitely return. After spending over 15 hols in a similar resort in Rhodes, we have been converted!
Just came back from our visit to Filia and as always it was fantastic, The family are so kind and welcoming and will always try to make your stay as comfortable as they can, nothing is too much trouble for them and they work day and night to do this. Regarding the comment from the other reviewer she was offered elsewhere as the hotel did everything they could for her, but to be honest nothing would have made her smile as we saw everyday. We were treated as family as usual and will be back in September.
Firstly dropped off up the road not near the actual entrance by jet 2 transfer, found our way to reception. Greated genuinely by owner, the asked "oh you booked with jet 2 " whilst he was checking his computer screen, which i felt you probably didnt get the best rooms (the rest of the week he struggled to smile at us in passing,) he showed us to our room which looked nothing like the picture. 2 single beds pushed together on a mezzanine floor up some wooden steps, no drawers smelly wardrobe, and the smallest bathroom, the shower cubicle had a curtain which stuck to you because the cubicle was tiny, water was always on the floor, no soap, a shelf that was constantly in puddles of water because it was so near the shower, the first night we were there we'd had 3 hours sleep due to early morning flight, but the bar played music till 3am, no sleep for us! This was the case every night till the early hours. We were half board, food was mediocre, so we ate out most nights, bbq was ok on the Saturday, our bed sheets were never changed all week, we had clean towels 3 times, the room wasn't swept at all that week either, €20 euros per night for air conditioning and €20 for the safe and the lovely dog that walked around used to poo near block 3 and it was just left, i booked because of other good reviews, but wouldn't recommend to anyone, and didnt think it was worth the cost we paid, and we will be passing this all onto jet 2, we would definitely visit Stalis again though.
Paid for an executive suite at Filia apartments, what I got was a room with no visible window in the living area as patio window is around the corner from sitting area, you need the lights on at all times my view is looking at bathroom door and the fridge, you have no view of outside at all like being in a prison celll, this is room 213, there r 2 other executive suite that jet 2 display on there website which are very nice a different class to what I’ve been given, was offered another room which was a downgrade to what I have paid for with no refund of difference, Spoke via tx website to Claudia who offered no solution just said it states all rooms may differ in shape dimensions which yes I agree with but not to the point there is no visible window in the room also she stated Michael hotel manager offered other room as a free upgrade at no extra cost, I asked her to check Jet 2 website the executive suite is the dearest so it’s not an upgrade it’s a downgrade her reply he told her it was dearer not willing to check, am I wrong but I’m the paying customer to jet 2 not the hotel manager who lied to them about room pricing, the Rep came today who said I can be moved but will cost me £150 admin fee to do so to no fault of my own. I skied why do Jet2 only show the 2 best excecutive suites and leave the third out could not answere my question which I already know why as no one would book it, also if you are coming here with children not much of a play area for them I slide little wooden boat +
Once again we weren't disappointed with Filia resort hotel , it being our 9th maybe 10th stay here and back again in September. It is exactly what we like ,lovely family run place who look after you so well. It is spotlessly clean , we have breakfast here and it is quite adequate for us . We eat out at night so can't comment on evening meals. However the mid day snacks are really good with lots of choice . Looking forward to our next visit .
