Me and my partner stayed in this resort the last week of April and I can honestly find no fault with this place from the moment we arrived we was treated amazingly by the nothing is to much trouble for them they go above and beyond to make your stay excellent the food was fantastic we tired 4 of 5 restaurants out favourite was the Mexican but all was fantastic the drinks here are not like not like other places we have been they are strong and not watered down the 2 of us came for a nice relaxing break and it was perfect we met 6 amazing friends while here and have all planned to come back to Stella island to enjoy a holiday all together

We also would like to add our holiday would have been a total different experience if it wasn’t for 2 staff members in particular 2 sisters Maria & Catalina and if anyone from Stella island or the Stella company reads this hold on to the two ladies as they are a credit to the company they are so friendly and do everything they can for you it was like getting along with your own friends I hope both girls get better positions or better pay as they deserve is great employees to the company

Words will do it no justice

Out of this world experience, stayed here recently for my partners 40th, and really words don’t do it justice. From the minute you arrive to the minute you leave you want for nothing, the staff, the service, the food, you could go on and on, absolutely flawless. Such a laid back relaxing vibe leads to allowing yourself to be totally self indulgent, and as parents to 4 children, this was as indulgent as you could get. Waited on hand and foot, you really were spoiled, which for once was a remarkable feeling...

Already looking to book for next year, and can’t recommend this venue enough.

If only you could give 10 stars!

Review by JackRapp London, United Kingdom

To say this place is wonderful would not give it justice. If you are considering booking, just do it! Equally, book direct with the hotel if you can as the transfer and the perks are very much worth it!

There has been a week delay in my writing this review because I wanted to give a fair review which would have been impossible after coming home from a week in paradise.

Once you get past the Instagram nation that ascends on this place, you are met with impeccable service, incredible people, and luxuries that surpass expectations...

We booked a Bungalow on the sea, a jacuzzi room and also had the standard room for a few hours before our flight so we experienced all of the rooms and can say, while the Bungalow is where dreams are made, all of the rooms are amazing!

The beds are comfy, the pillows are proper, the amenities in the room are new and purposeful and the overall site is lovely.

A few tips on the town: The cash point is in the centre of town by the pharmacy in the grocery story If you can, grab some cat food at the grocery store and feed the cats and kittens that live up the road. There are only a few of them and they are so very loving but also very hungry. The old lady on the corner will not be impressed but the kittens will love you for life! Rent a car from the local car place and drive around and see the sites, it is so worth it ( do not go looking for that stupid waterfall on tik tok...we did it, don't!)

A few tips about the hotel: TIP your bartenders people!!! Cash point already mentioned! Go all-inclusive, seriously, it is worth it The hotel shop is lovely and everyone there is super helpful Tip your housekeeping!!

While everyone was a star in our eyes, there were a few people who made our trip amazing: Ieva- Front desk Pari- Front Desk Boss Lady Maritea- Cabana Georgios ( There were two, both awesome!) Gabi- Umani Eva Eleni Irini- Cabana Raf ( We hope your hand is ok! )- Everywhere! That man is making drinks everywhere! Natasa- Matuki Georgia- Concierge Evfmira Mr Mikos

The people at the cubana bar are incredible. They work flat out all day with constant orders and keep up the pace all day and night.

Makuti is a lovely atmosphere with great bar staff and the best drinks.

The spa is stunning. One of the most amazing I've been to. Shame we couldn't use the pool and jacuzzi but I could tell they'd be amazing if we could. The staff are super helpful and I got a great pedicure and massage that saved me after an injury hiking.

The people at the front desk and the concierge desk bent over backward to help us.

This place is lovely and everyone there is lovely. I hope to return one day if only to have one of Raf's old fashion cocktails and an awesome cake club sandwich!

Thank you to everyone!

An amazing holiday, loved it❤️

Review by jstaines_x Benfleet, United Kingdom

I had the best time on holiday at Stella Island, let me walk you through my stay:

We landed at the airport & collected our luggage, we were staying for a total of 8 nights so there was a complimentary transfer booked from the airport to the hotel. The guy was waiting at the exit with a sign saying my name, and we walked with him for about 5 minutes to reach his car.

The drive to the hotel only took around 15-20 minutes. On arrival at the hotel we were shown to some seats in the main reception area & were given some drinks from the bar...

Check in was busy, as it was prime time (3pm). It was also only the third day the hotel had been open for the start of the season, so it felt like they were still getting to grips with things. It took about an hour for us to get fully checked in & be taken to our room by one of the little golf carts with our luggage.

We booked a premium swim up room (and before coming to the hotel I had read reviews about how many of the rooms dont get the sun all day, so had specifically emailed requesting a room that gets sun most of the day - they said they cannot guarantee anything but I do think this went in our favour). The room was amazing, lovely big bed, seperate room for the toilet, shower room, a walk in wardrobe type of thing, a little dressing table, a weird sink with a tap coming from the ceiling, a fully stocked mini bar, a nice big tv, and best of all our deck with 2 beds & a table & chairs. We stayed in room 441 and had the sun from around 11/12 all the way through until sunset, which was just amazing. Couldn’t have asked for a better location room, we were also right next to the little pathway which led round to our favourite bar the Umbra! There were a few issues with the room, one minor issue was the safe did not work, it was locked on arrival & we phoned reception who sent someone down later that day to fix it for us to use. The other issue which was pretty inconvenient, the aircon wasnt blowing out cold air, again we phoned up reception who sent someone down to look at it, they informed us that the aircon was on heating mode, and they could not change it onto cooling mode as it was for the whole block and others did not want it on cooling mode. It was annoying, but in the end we just slept with the door open because we got too warm in the night.

I would highly recommend going all inclusive at stella island, because if not it will get expensive! So lets talk about food & drinks:

Breakfast is served in the main buffet near reception (Kimata) as well as in La Parilla which was our go to restaurant as it was the closest one to us. We tried the main buffet (Kimata) for breakfast one morning, but honestly wasnt worth the walk as it served the exact same stuff as the buffet in La Parilla and it was so much quieter in La Parilla. My favourite thing for breakfast was the pots of greek yoghurt which you add your own toppings on to (my go to was sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, walnuts, dried cranberries, raisins, oats & honey - havent stopped thinking about this since ive been home). There was a good selection of sweet bits, little cakes, loaves, doughnut bites, waffles, crepes, croissoints, biscuits. My boyfriend had a cooked breakfast everyday consisting of bits like eggs, sausages, bacon, tomatoes, hash browns (and put pesto with everything). The orange juice is a must, its just amazing.

Brunch/Lunch theres a few more options to choose from, all of which are included in the all inclusive and could eat at as many times as you wanted. We never ate in the buffet for lunch, just because we had a buffet breakfast & some evenings a buffet dinner so didnt want to over do it. Our favourite lunch place was La Parilla as they had a great menu with lots of choices, we usually had a main course each, a greek salad to share and a dessert (OMG the dulcey ice cream is to die for). We also at at the Cabana bar but this wasnt the best as we waited forever for our food. The Mukuti pool bar was good, however it was often quite busy and we struggled to get a table, but the food was great, the chicken gyros was lovely.

Dinner is typically the buffet, which has a wide range of choices & i’m sure theres something for eveyone there. Large breads selection, salad station, different meats and dishes, freshly cooked bits, pasta, pizza, & best of all a massive desserts section. With all inclusive, you are able to visit each of the restaurants at the hotel once in your stay (with stays up to 9 nights i believe).

The first one we visited was La Parilla, and it did not dissappoint. I had the bruschetta with prosciutto for starters, and asked without mushrooms which they were able to do. My boyfriend had the beef tartar which they prepared at the table. For mains I had the rib eye steak, which was cooked beautifully and the chips were good with it. For dessert I had (yet again) the dulcey ice cream.

The next restaurant we went to was Umami, now im not a fan of fish or sushi so I did struggle with the menu slightly. Unfortunately there were no seats next to the window, which was a shame we didnt get to look out onto the lovely view over stella island. For starters I had the veggie spring rolls, very nice. For mains I had the yakitori chicken which I enjoyed but found the flavours quite over powering. Then finally for dessert I had the namelaka which was delicious.

We went to the Vegera restaurant on its opening night, this one is situated up by the main reception, so it was a bit of a walk from our room to get there. The service was a bit slower on this evening, but I do not doubt that this was only because it was their opening night. In Vegera you choose 3 meze dishes to share for each 2 people as your starters, we had the dolmadakia which was stuffed grape leaves, smoked aubergine, and kavourmas which was my fave. We then each chose our salad (went for Greek salad obviously), and then a main, I had the roasted lamb & I have genuinely never seen or consumed so much lamb in my life. Then we forced down a dessert of classic cretan desserts, with baklava style pieces, fruits and ice cream.

We didn’t venture to the fish restaurant Oceania as I don’t like fish, but when speaking to a staff member in reception about this she offered to book us in to another one of the restaurants for a free meal there. We chose to go to La Parilla on our last evening and didn’t have as great experience as our first time around. I chose to have the same starter dish which was the bruschetta and prosciutto, however was not as good as before as the bread was rock hard. When I informed the staff member of this, they were quick to apologise and take the food away to remake it with different bread which was nice. For mains I tried the beef, lamb & pork kebap which tasted lovely, and for dessert had to go back to my fave the dulcey ice cream.

The drinks selection was great, I spent the week working my way through the whole cocktail menu, all of which tasted amazing! There was one specific cocktail I wanted to try but unfortunately they didn’t have the ingredients to make it, but were apologetic about this.

Most days we would go for breakfast & then relax on our deck, it was lovley when the sun got round to us, but we had an umbrella just incase we wanted some shade. We walked down to the shop just along the seafront (you can get out of the resort along the seafront down by the restaurant by the sea, and it was also easier for us to walk to the Matuki bar going via the seafront and re-entering the resort by the big bungalows), and brought ourselves a rubber ring floatie. The pool was freezing but thats only because it was the first week of April, I reckon it would be warmer later in the season, but with the rubber ring it made the pool more bareable. Just as a side note, the White Store or whatever its called which is the shop on site at Stella Island is a bit over priced, we found many items cheaper in the shop down by the sea.

We wanted to do a trip whilst in Crete and so asked at Reception if there were any recommendations, we sat down with a nice lady who showed us the brochure for lots of amazing trips. Unfortunately the cost of these was too much for us, so we took it upon ourselves to find a trip online. We went on a nice boat trip for the day & went around Spinalonga. There was also one evening that we went out of the hotel for dinner, they were able to arrange a taxi for us which arrived within 10/15 minutes.

When checking out of the room, we had to be out by 11am and had spoken to them the day before and arranged that they would pick our luggage up with the golf carts. We also arranged the day before the time for the taxi to pick us up to take us to the airport, we wanted to be picked up at 11:30am. Unfortunately the check out was badly organised, mainly just the taxi situation, there were so many people waiting for taxis to the airport and just no taxis turning up. We annoyingly waited for 30 minutes for our taxi, which luckily didnt make us late for the airport but was quite frustrating and probably could have been managed better.

All in all, a great holiday!!
